Disney's New Theme for 2009/2010?

I have on very good authority that the new theme will be "Thank You for Coming to WDW Even With the High Gas Prices." They'll go back to only horse-drawn transportation (note that the horse-drawn wagons will add to travel time between parks and resorts), have free parking for hybrid vehicles, close down Test Track to convert the cars to ethanol, and grow ONLY corn during Flower & Garden (see Test Track ethanol conversion, above). CMs have been instructed to say THANK YOU every single time they see any guest, and Disney management will be available for M&Gs at certain times each day to fawn over guests and beg them to come back next month with their entire extended family.

It'll be fun. You'll like it. :thumbsup2

Oh, great! It took us a long time to get the Iger slobber off my wife's purse after our last trip. Now this! :scared:

it is also Mickeys 80th birthday Nov. 28 2008. Maybe that is why they are talking about celebrations. Bring back the old Mickeys bday show in toontown!

They could also NOT have a theme. There has not been a theme every year the past ten years.

Although, they may need one, to keep people coming with travel costs.

We really didn't see many winners either of the times we visited. One week was the last week of Sept 2007 and the week starting May 17, 2008. I guess with all the hype, I thought there would be more sightings. We saw a few fast passes and less ears. We will be back the end of Sept beginning of Oct. Hope we see something more than what we did. I think WDW spent more on advertising than the prizes!!

Maybe some of the dreams weren't things that you could witness. I know with us, there were a couple of times that we got wisked away by a CM and we didn't even know what was happening until we got to where they were taking us. (i.e. special audience with Cinderella, front-of-the-line access at the Safari along with our own vehicle and driver, etc.) Then there were other times that it was obvious - like when they handed us celebration mouse ears as we were getting off Snow White.

at another disney website the RUMOR was that it was going to be an emphasis on people celebrating special occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, ect. "magical celebrations"

I too have heard this rumour.

I think they usually have a theme if only for the sake of the three o'clock parade and merchandising.

I love the idea of celebrating Mickey's 80th birthday. It would go along with the rumours I've heard about Magical Celebrations. Wouldn't it be great if Toontown became Mickey's Birthday Land again? :goodvibes

I sure hope it is better then YOMD. This one really stunk. Never seen anyone get anything during my eight day stay. I was not expecting anything as I never get nothing free but it would have been nice to see someone experiance the magic. Guess there was no magic to be given out.

i love year of a million dreams ive gotten dream ears and dream fast passes

I was wondering, too, what (if anything) they're going to do for Mickey's 80th birthday in November. ::MickeyMo Does the YOAMD promotion end in October or December?

Please note that at this time this is only a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by Disney Corporation.

The next promotion after the Year of a Million Dreams is rumored to be "Magical Celebrations."

The emphasis will be on marketing the Disney parks and resorts worldwide to guests celebrating special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, graduations and the like. It supposedly will be a scaled-down version of the YoMD promotion, with fewer prizes. Like anybody has seen a lot now, right?

More rumor, this will be a smaller scale celebration until the launch of Walt Disney World's 40th celebration in 2011. Nothing has been confirmed by the Walt Disney Company.

An official annoucement should be expected sometime around August when the 2009 package rates are released.

I have heard that Disney is sending out surveys that poses the question - (Would you want to plan a trip to Disney around your birthday, if it was free?) This would certainly go along with the idea of "Magical Celebrations".

It seems like this topic comes up about once every few days now! :upsidedow

I can't imagine their celebrating the birthday of Cinderella. Frankly, I'd be a bit miffed since they did not celebrate the 70th anniversary of Snow White last year. :sad1:

In Disney's defense, there WAS an entire exhibit at the Magic of Disney Animation at Disneyland all about Snow White's 70th Anniversary (and I believe there's going to be another exhibit for Sleeping Beauty's 50th). But other than that, you're right, Disney didn't celebrate the occasion.

So have I. http://www.allearsnet.com/aa/aa060208.htm#ques4

I can't really see Disney making Toontown into Birthdayland, especially since Toontown is supposed to be permanent and when Birthdayland was originally built, it was meant to be temporary. But who knows - anything can happen at Disney. :wizard:
By I too think that Mickey's 80th definitely needs to be commemorated SOMEHOW. The way they made all the statues for his 75th was cool, I also remember they had a full article in Disney Magazine about it and then a special on ABC. Something along those lines might be nice. :cake:

LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!:lmao:

I like the "Magical Celebrations" idea, mainly because I am getting married at Disney later this year.

2011 will also be the 40th anniversary of WDW. I wouldnt be suprised if they tried to stretch that into a 2 year thing, starting late 2010....

I called today to upgrade reservations from to a vacationpackage and was told by the agent that 2009 will be something to the effect 'Celebrations Come True' and that they'll still do wish giving with an extra emphasis on special celebrations. She then made a big deal out the fact that my daughter's birthday is during the trip and that it's my son's first visit - both celebration-worthy.

Now - I don't know how officially it is - just what I was told.
