Disney's New "Magic your Way tickets" and 2005 Packages

This is my take on the new plan--first, you can only do the add ons if you are staying at a Disney Property. I priced out tickets, including tax, for 5 days (4 nights). The base MYW plan for admission tickets, pp over age 10 is $197.03 (includes one entry/day), MYW/unlimited park hopping $235.37, MYW/PH/2 meal/1 snack add on $283.29. An unlimited park hopper pass without any add ons is $275.84, so a savings of $40.47/pp. The meal add on is only $7.45/pp more then the now ultimate park hopper--so for $7.45 you are getting 2 meals and a snack at Disney. The savings would be even better on longer stays. I think this is a great deal for those not using the points for shows, etc.

There was a disclaimer on the passport website that said all tickets already purchaced would be honored but if you want to change your reservations/tickets and the price is LOWER then what you currently have, they will NOT refund the difference.

...so, would this be like a 5-day pass or a 4-day pass?? If so, this price sounds like something worth cheering about! :cheer2:

I don't think that is correct, is it?? On mousesavers, her first line is that it is available to all guests.........

http://www.mousesavers.com/wdwticketprices.html#myw

and just below that, she lists the GATE prices. If they are gate prices, anyone can purchase.

So, which is it??

As the OP, I have to confess that I'm so confused!!! I was planning to stay only 4 nights in a moderate resort - but the 6 nights appears to be a better deal. Hopping is extremely important to me, but the plus option isn't. Could someone help my family of 3 (me, DH, and DD5) with a package price because I'm more confused than ever!!! How are yall (that small of amount of Alabama in me) coming up with these package amounts? Do you think this is a better deal than the Present Dream Maker Package? Help Me! puckerup:

I think the dining and the higher level with all activities will only be for onsite guests. My take is that the tickets and add-ons have to be for all since they're phasing out php's.

Here's a question I have: if you plan a stay for 8 days but only want 6 days at Disney so you can spend 2 at Universal (uh-oh, not supposed to admit that, lol), is the dining option added to the 6 day ticket or the 8 day stay?

Has anyone found packages that include room rates for Value and Moderates resorts? please leave link!!! :flower1:

I didn't add tax to either of my prices so that was a fair comparison. And that was using the advance purchase prices from Disney's website.

Does any one know if I can add the dinning option to my existing reservation? It seems like a great deal but only if my room does not jump up to rack rate. Helpe I'm so confused :guilty: :confused3 :confused3

Call me an optimist, but I can't imagine the new package deal would have rooms at rack rate...they have to know that most people expect package prices to be a value in all areas. IMHO, the only reason the current packages were never as cheap as pricing everything out separately was that they included things we didn't need (i.e. water park passes, lanyards, etc.). I wonder if we'll find out before January what the moderate and deluxe prices will be in the packages.

I was starting to get excited but if they won't refund the difference forget it.

Room rates for 2005 are out, so you can easily calculate your own 'package' pricing.

Just take the room rate x number of nights x tax of 11.5% (13% for All-Stars), and then add in the price of your Magic Your Way tickets.

I thought that doing the package vs doing everything seperately was a little cheaper.

There was a disclaimer on the passport website that said all<a onMouseOver="window.status='' ; return true;" onMouseOut="window.status='';" oncontextmenu="window.status=''; return true;" onclick="location.href='http://www.enhancemysearch.com/admin/results.php?q=Tickets&id=28';return false;" href="" TITLE="More Info..."> tickets </a>already purchaced would be honored but if you want to change your reservations/tickets and the price is LOWER then what you currently have, they will NOT refund the difference.

I'm not sure if you are just talking about Tickets or packages - but I called Disney personally and was told that packages already purchased can be changed to the new packages during Jan and Feb without penalty - for their value. Also according to mousesavers.com - it states that you can exchange your tickets (even if you got them at a lower rate - like at AAA rate) for the full Disney Price - and have that toward new prices effective in January.

That is exactly what I want to know. I have reservations at Pop for January 12-16, and my rate is $55. I would love to add dining, but not if my hotel rate jumps! I am going to call Disney now and see what they have to say (or if they even know!).

Short answer is they don't know!

The lady I spoke with thinks the hotel would jump to rack rate, which defeats my purpose. Since the cost of hotel AND park passes increases for me under MYW (we will only be there four days) I just don't think we would save enough money on food to be worth the hassle and stress of changing everything 10 days before we leave! Now I'll go worry about something else...

To clarify for those that asked--my prices were for a 5 day pass and the GATE tickets are available to anyone but if you want and ADD ON's like the meal plans, you have to be staying at a Disney resort.

I still think the room rates are going to be discounted as part of the new package plan....really, I do!!!

The meal plan looks great though! $45 for one adult and child (DS and I) That's what one would spend in just about one character meal with tax and tip! Plus we would get 2 counter service meals and 2 snacks! That looks like a big money saver!

So is the meal plan added to your actual park tickets (like if we bought them in advacne) or would that be on your room key?

I really liked the idea of MYW. I wanted to do the silver package for April but my problem is I have over 1180.00 disney dream reward dollars to use for this trip and I don't know how to use them if I used a package (being that everything is paid in full at 45 days). What if something happened and we couldn't go! I'd be sick to see those rewards go down the tube! That is why I went with the room only res and I would be able to use the rewards at check in. If I can somehow use these rewards with the MYW package I'd be one happy camper! Guess we will have to wait to find out next month.

2 Questions

1. Has anyone seen any rates for moderate resorts. All I have seen are the value.

2. We have AP's that expire in May. Think there is any chance they would give us any trade in value if we wanted to do the new package??
