Disney's New "Magic your Way tickets" and 2005 Packages

Does anyone know if you would be able to book any of these options if you are doing the land and sea trip? Adding on meals in the park would be great!

Our hotel is already booked, and I am probably going to go buy 4 day PHP before January 1. THEN I will see what they can do for me with the new pricing, since apparently whatever we have already paid can be applied to the new packages. I am REALLY interested in the dining option, but if my hotel and park passes will be significantly more expensive then I might just leave things the way they are. I didn't see the vouchers making a lot of sense for our family, but this dining option deal would be fabulous! I don't understand why they won't start booking for things NOW with the understanding that they won't begin until after January 2? At least I will still be within my "no penalty" cancellation frame for the hotel if I do switch it. Confusion, confusion...

i have been doing so much research on this lately and it really looks to be an exciting and good deal. sometimes you get so much in your head you cant make heads or tales out of it but this seems pretty strait forward and easy!!

Based on the info on wdw.com and mousesavers here is what I came up with.

To make things even, this is going to look at 10 days on the new basic Magic Your Way ticket with the hopper option added on, vs 10 days on the old park hopper pass. The only difference is the park hopper doesn't expire.

Magic Your Way tickets:

10 days = $209, + $35 for hopper, + tax = $260

Park hopper pass:

10 days = $530 ($265 for each 5 day pass, since there are no 10 day).

Yes you lose the non-expiring part, but your paying $260 versus $530 for basically the same thing. Actually you end up paying less and basically getting 5 days for free. Even if you added $100 of the non-expiring option, you are still looking at a savings of $170 per person.

Obviously you wouldn't do this, but to look at it fairly, I think this is the best way to show the savings.

I just priced out 2 adult tickets at the current prices and then priced the new base price with the options we would add. DH and I are not interested in the water parks so we would want just the option to park hop. That being said we usually go for 7 days. Currently the most days you can get on a park hopper pass is 5, which would mean we would have to buy the park hopper plus to get 7 days. At the current rate it would cost us $632 for 2 adult park hopper plus 7 day passes.

With the new system, I would pay the flat rate of $199 each then add $35 each for the option to park hop. This only totals $468. That would mean a savings of $194!

I hope I have read this right. IF I did, I am very excited about it. I haven't priced out a childs ticket yet, but I like the savings so far!

I do believe you have forgotten the tax of 6.5% on the base rate. So, $199 plus tax is $211.94 (rounding up). Add the $35 to park hop = $246.94. For 2 adults = $493.88. Still a savings, though!

But, Mousesavers now has the advance-purchase prices. It appears that they only offer the 5,6,7, or 10-day as advance-purchase, and you must add on the park hopper option, the Magic Plus Pack, or both, to qualify for the savings. In your situation, the 7-Day with park hop option would be $223 + tax = $237.50. For 2 adults = $475.

I am so confused. Can you buy your ticket in advance ( lets say the 7 day ). Add on no expiration, hopper option and then add the dining option, but pick out your own resort opt. with codes ? Or is the dining opt. going to be like length of stay passes are now ( in otherwords will I have to select a room pkg. in order to get the dining option ) ? Did anyone understand that ?

As I understand it (which may not be worth much!) you have to purchase your hotel, park passes, and dining all as one package. I am POSITIVE that everyone in your room has to have all the same "stuff" (tickets, dining, etc.) On another thread someone said my hotel will increase to rack rate if I change to the dining option package. If I pay rack rate for my room and pay for the "new" 4 day park hopper then my cost (for a family of 3) increases by $145. While we could get better food with the dining package, our overall cost increases substantially. If I add the increased cost of hotel and passes to the $80 per day for the dining package and then figure that a couple of days we will still probably pay something for additional food somewhere, we are looking at about $500. For four days for three people!! That is just insane! DH would have an absolute cow, no, a HERD of cows, if he thought we were going to spend $500 on food! I think I will stick with my original plan. I will definitely call WDW once the packages are available just to make sure all of my calculations are correct, but from what I can see right now we should leave things alone!

I'm guardedly excited by the new options because it looks like they can save money. But they might change the way I tour. I might for instance have to think about what "hopping" is worth to me. Right now I do it because I can.... but if it saved me money I could stick to one park, one day. Maybe. And usually with the PHPs we ended up with more options than we could use.. we generally use 1 or 2 out of the three options. But we always liked knowing we had the freedom to have the others... and also the freedom to not use a day on the hoppers and save them for a future trip... for me the urge to save the money might lead me to buy a more restrictive ticket and have a more rigidly scheduled vacation... not sure if I like that or not.

Forget my last post, looking at the chart it seems very clear, and I see that you buy the "pluses" as a pack, not one by one. It certainly is an amazing deal... the price differences between a 4-day pass and a 7-day pass are negligible!

This is great stuff... I guess it is time to start planning my next vacation!

this is a bit unrealistic - there is a 10 day ticket available which is very similiar to the new tickets in that it expires after 21 days - it's not sold in the US, but it is sold in Europe. We have bought them for £199 which is $382 - that's probably a better comparision figure. Or do a comparison on the 7 day hoppers - comparing against 2 x 5 day hoppers is unrealistic as you wouldn't buy them you would buy an AP instead

I still think if you are willing to give up hopping and no expiration then you can get a really good deal with these new passes but I'm not sure if I could give up the flexibiltiy of an AP - it's going ot be a tough call.

(I need to get one more ticket) I really doubt I will use the plus', we are going in January, don't think it will be that warm then, so I will use those for a future trip, I looked at the 10 day ticket added the park hopper and the never expire option just phoned Disney to get the advance price on that, and it looks like it will cost $71 more than my 5 day ticket.. here is where the options come in lol.. SHOULD I get that and get 2 trips out of it, or save my money now and just get the 5 day for 221 and forget about the never expire option, and save $40.00 instead of spending a little more now.. what do you all think?

This is my take on the new plan--first, you can only do the add ons if you are staying at a Disney Property. I priced out tickets, including tax, for 5 days (4 nights). The base MYW plan for admission tickets, pp over age 10 is $197.03 (includes one entry/day), MYW/unlimited park hopping $235.37, MYW/PH/2 meal/1 snack add on $283.29. An unlimited park hopper pass without any add ons is $275.84, so a savings of $40.47/pp. The meal add on is only $7.45/pp more then the now ultimate park hopper--so for $7.45 you are getting 2 meals and a snack at Disney. The savings would be even better on longer stays. I think this is a great deal for those not using the points for shows, etc.

There was a disclaimer on the passport website that said all tickets already purchaced would be honored but if you want to change your reservations/tickets and the price is LOWER then what you currently have, they will NOT refund the difference.

what was the ADVANCED PURCHASE PRICE for the 10 day +hopper +noexp for? how did they break it down for you?

She told me it was $13.00 less than the at gate ticket, so it was 209 and it would be 196.00 + $100 for the no expiry, and then + $35 for park hopper = $331.00 + tax.

I don't think mousesavers has posted the adv purchase price for a 10 day yet.

So it might seem, if I'm correct, that you can get a 10 day myw w/hopper and noexp for the same price of a 7 day PHP, not bad! 3 extra days. This breakdown works well for people that don't need the plusses.
