Just me being stupid but - It does come naturally - USAIRWAYS and United share booking and flights out of Philly. United is participating in the ME program and USAIRWAYS does not. Can anyone explain this to me as guests to WDW booked throught United are on the same USAIRWAYS planes. Thanks

I'll try to answer this question.

I believe Disney stopped dealing with US Airways when they were having all their problems. They won't book them anymore when you add air to your package. I think they didn't want to be responsible if they went belly up and people were holding worthless tickets.

Anyway, United and US Airways do code share, but they're booking is separate. So if you are booked through United you can checkin at your resort as part of ME. US Airways is not participating probably for the reason I mentioned earlier.

Hope this helps.

Normally if you book a code share flight, you check-in at the airline that is operating the flight. If the flight is being operated by USAir, I'm not sure the ME desk at the resort will have access to their check-in system even if you booked it through United. I would call and ask.

ME costs the airlines money. USAIR has no money LOL! SW doesn't spend money freely.... so these guys (amoung others) are not paying the service to check thier luggage. (There is a TSA approved service at Disney doing baggage check, it's not Disney)

Actually, I think it would be a wise financial investment for Southwest to participate. It would certainly help alleviate some of the congestion at the airport if people could check bags remotely.
