Disney's Magical Express

Being able to 'check-in' at my resort for my return flight is a huge deal for us. We can be rid of our baggage first thing in the day and not have the hassle of dragging it to the airport. Since we fly Song, it will work for us. I can only hope that Disney will get this to work efficiently. Most of Disney's things do work well. Yes, you sometimes have to wait for a bus to the parks from your resort. But considering the numbers of people that Disney hauls around (please excuse the wording Tyler!!) I think they do a pretty good job.

Could I lose my luggage? I guess so. But, I think that Disney can figure this out. Yep, count me among those that are happy about this and are looking forward to giving it a shot. Now, if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to post, with my head hanging waaay down.
 
We generally just bring a couple carry-ons and a stroller, so we wouldn't be checking any luggage at the resort for the return trip. Do you guess this would be a problem with carrying it on to the bus? :flower1:
 
Since our trip is not until June 7th I will have a month to monitor all of those who will go before us!
 

I'm glad I'm not going until July, maybe by then some of the bugs will be worked out! As for the grocery stop, I am going with the shop that will deliver my groceries to the hotel!
 
this is a nice service if your on a tight budget, but if you can spend the extra bucks rent a car from budget and join the fast break program. walk into airport got to directly to budget FASTBREAK counter located literally across from the terminal and skip all the long rental car lines in the terminal. FASTBREAK is a great program and it's free. hit the budget website and check it out. we love having a rental car. we find it easier to drive to all parks, except mk where we take the wdw bus, and you can go off property to eat or shop if you like. give it a try. good luck!



 
My husband and I are taking our 4 yr old grandson to Disney World in 11 days our vacation was planned more than 4 months ago after doing lots of research and haering about the magic express we decided not to rent a car but now just 11 days before our vacation disney has told our travel agent and myself that we are not going to get the luggage tags and travel booklet for the magical express service before we leave well i guess th magic express really isnt as magical as disney is hyping it up to be after all

Welcome to the DIS. I don't know how that makes it less magical. You will still be able to use the service. I would have the travel agent check again about the tags.

Welcome, first-time poster momeagle36!

You may still receive your Magical Express packet with barcoded luggage routing tags, especially because your trip is 11 days off (regardless of what Disney told your T.A.).

In any case, Disney has designed the system so that they can provide the Magical Express luggage transfers and transportation service whether or not you receive the packet. It's in Disney's interest to get the packets out to everyone because it's more costly to Disney to perform the manual processes that are necessary when a guest doesn't receive the packet.

Don't be alarmed by some other new posters who are saying terrible things about Magical Express (some of which are downright absurd). These posters appear to be pretendng to be Disney guests, when they're really folks with an economic interest in steering guests away from Magical Express.

There have also been plenty of legitimate reports of start-up problems with Magical Express, especially on the first day. But things seem to be improving quickly.
 
I got my tags today....I am going next friday...May 20th. I even recieved two packages in the mail(fed-ex) today...so I got 2 sets...not the 1!!

yes, they had a rough start...but eveything is like that. I cannot wait to try this service...it is saving me over $100 bucks!!!! :flower:
 
We leave on the 18th and haven't received ours. I wish they'd come but will cope IF our luggage gets to Pop sometime that day. I was told to go to A-1, find the Magical Express desk and present our luggage tags and our ressie #.
 
We leave on the 17 and I got mine yesterday via fedex. Everything was in perfect order. No problems at all. I will let you all know how transportation goes when I get back.
