Disney's Hilton Head Resort - Just Visiting?

Our family is considering a relatively last-minute trip to Hilton Head in September. There is no availability at Disney's Hilton Head Resort, either points or cash, and we would rather save points for a 2020 WDW trip anyway. We are going to stay elsewhere on the island.

That said, we would love to drop into the Disney resort and look around. I am thinking that, as with other Disney resorts around the country, this is allowed. As DVC members, is there anything we should be aware of if we plan to visit, look around, hit the gift shop, etc.? Any activities that DVC members can participate in, even if not staying at the resort?

We are heading back in a couple weeks and are staying where we stayed last year…right NEXT to Disney's Beach House. We have visited both there and the actual resort many times while not staying there. We have even gotten Dole Whips and Mickey Ice Cream Bars at the side windows. We have also visited the gift shop at the resort. The only thing you cannot do is enter either of the pool areas.

Have fun! Hilton Head Island is so beautiful!

DD and I visited when I picked her up from a summer program at SCAD in Savannah. We rented bikes from the HH resort and had no problem. We ate at the quick service at the main resort and walked through the gift shop. It was a nice Disney fix!

You can walk around the resort, shop the gift shop and order food. Just park in the public parking lot just outside the resort and walk over or hit the buzzer at the gate and let them know you are a DVC member and would like to look around. They'll buzz you in. Parking can be tight so we usually park in the public lot. You can't swim or participate in the planned activities that I know of unless you are there in the evening when the movie on the beach happens. People come and go all the time to that event without notice so I don't think that would be a problem.

Thank you, all, for this helpful advice! DD is a huge fan of Dole whip, and this trip is for her birthday, so I think we will definitely visit. I'm thinking we'll drive over (we are staying at Marriott Grande Ocean, which is about 5 miles away) get Dole whip, explore the grounds, and do some Disney gift shopping.

Hmmm. The evening movie sounds so fun, but if it's technically only for resort guests, I don't want to break any rules. Does anyone know if it's technically okay to join for the movie? Do they do this on the beach/at the Beach House, or up at the actual resort?
