This sounds great! Can you tell me what company? Did you reserve this ahead of time? We are heading to HHI in a week and a half and this is right up our alley.

Yes, and the top floor of the lodge, IMO, has 4 studios and the most beautiful views. I'll check for photos when I get home.
Can you request the top floor of the lodge? Those views sound great.
Yes, and whenever we've put in that request, we've gotten it. But warning-one time MS encouraged us to request a specific room-"It's a small resort, and if there's a specific room you like, request it and you'll probably get that one". Well, that one time we got a room furthest away.
Try to stay away from rooms on the left side of the Lodge. They are mostly "tree" view rooms. You want to be on the right hand side and higher up is better IMO. If you are not in the Lodge, you may or may not get a decent view. It all depends on what is available when you check in. Also be advised, when making a specific request, you may be putting yourself in an HA room. The problem is there are just not that many Studios (or 1BR's) at HHI.
This is too funny, but the left side are the rooms I want. I have stayed in a 1 BR on the left side of the Lodge and a studio on the right side. I much prefer the left side BECAUSE of the tree views. It was very shaded and I felt so secluded. The balcony on the right side did not have any shade (it was NOT completely covered) and we had the morning sun--and much of the afternoon! We could not use the balcony until late afternoon/evening, and we love just sitting on the balcony and chilling, so we were pretty bummed. Of course, this was July and it was hot!!!
)AHA! Now I understand why you don't like the right side of the top floor but we love it- We go in November when we welcome the added warmth of the sun. But I know only too well what the sun feels like when it's hot already, so I can understand. We've stayed on the top floor of the Lodge on both the left and right, and although we prefer the right side views, either's OK. We also like the views from building 18 (although be aware that you're on the first floor and footsteps from above seem very loud. We were blessed with great sleepers). Building 12 was just fair, and we didn't really like building 28 (but we can't say we disliked it-it is still Hilton Head, after all)
Next year, we will be staying in a 2 BR. I'm thinking about requesting Building 18. I know the 1 BR/studio is on the bottom floor. Would the dedicated 2 BRs be on the top floor or are there dedicated 2 BRs on the bottom floor as well?
GVs are located in bldgs# 16,18,19, 28 and 30. In each of those buildings, the lock-off 2BR is located directly under the GV. I think there is also a dedicated 2BR on the first level and another on the second level. The upper floor of the GV is the only thing on the third level of those buildings
We are going to HH for the first time for 3 nights in October. What do we need to know? We have booked a studio, but have not requested a particular view. Do we need to? Also, I have heard we need to reserve bikes. Where do I do this? What about food? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for the info!![]()
we are checking in on 10/10 too! and don't have to check out til 10/15. It's our first time to HH and trying to find out what to do in HH with the wife for our 15th Anniversary trip. Any tips, anyone? When are you going? We'll be there for 4 nights from 10/10 thru 10/14. Our first time, too!![]()

Simba's Mom, I just noticed this thread was resurrected. We had discussed the pros and cons of the different sides of the main lodge. I noticed in this post you said you didn't really like Building 28. I'm curious what you didn't like about it. We arrived last night and are in Building 28. I had requested marsh view, 2nd floor. We were able to get 2nd floor but not marsh view. We actually had a problem with our villa and were offered to take a marsh view today but we would have had to pack and unpack again, plus lose our home for the day, so we decided to stay and they fixed the issue. I haven't decided if I like Building 28 or not. I can't put my finger on it, but something is making me not fall in love with it. I really don't mind the island views just because like I said in the previous post I like having the trees around. It makes it feel more secluded. This building definitely has great access to the pier which my boys love for the fishing, so I'm not sure what it is about this location. At check-in, I was offered Building 20, which I think I might have liked better. I just don't know why.![]()
The reason I didn't like Building 28 was that the balcony faced several other buildings, so "private" was pretty much the opposite of how I felt. I don't know how 2 BR balconies feel, but the 1 BRs and studios that I've been in have very private feeling balconies. Here I really felt "open to the world". I guess some of the reason also is that we usually stay in Live Oak Lodge and love it there. However, we stayed once in Building 18, and although we were disappointed that it wasn't Live Oak Lodge, the beautiful marsh view made up for it.
You can call the resort and they'll fax a copy of the current activity schedule. The activities don't change that much from week-to-week and the pricing is also very stable.
Here is the resort phone # (843) 341-4100
Enjoy!![]()
