Resort Thread Disney's GRAND FLORIDIAN Resort & Spa + Construction Updates!! **LOBBY REFURB STARTED 4/14**

For what it is worth, we just returned yesterday from a stay at the Grand Floridian last week. The lobby is still pretty much as mrsap
pictured above. Check-in, checkout & other customer service was just fine. I did ask one of the front desk people if they knew when the construction would be finished, and she did not know. She was also clearly irritated not to have been informed as an employee about the timing. She did add however that they all believed the gingerbread house would definitely be in place this year. Time will tell I guess.

I have found GF employees assume they know the answer but usually are wrong. I was told the walkway to Poly was closed a few years back. Nope I actually just walked it 10 mins ago.

Why is it so hard to communicate! WDW needs to work on that. We on dis generally are better informed.

I’ll be at poly this weekend so I hope to pop over to gf at some point.

Arrived at GF, and guess what? CL has been closed for 2 weeks while they ripped out what was left of the birdcage. I knew nothing about that, but honestly, good decision. The lounge doesn’t open until 11 am today. I don’t do breakfast, so that’s fine by me. One of the CMs told me they had a few convention attendees with guaranteed CL rooms, and they had to modify service to resemble a room service situation. I’m sitting on the third floor right now, the lobby is pretty empty, and I’m the only non-CM in the club area.

Holy Toledo, that’s next level incompetence to spread gossip that is direct contradiction to your company’s publicly released info! You know someone is gonna believe they got inside intel, book a holiday trip and then rip holiday CMs a new one when the display isn’t up this year. I cannot facepalm this enough.

Good lord. Don't blow it out of proportion. All she was doing was expressing her own person opinion. Kinda like you are doing right now in this forum. So sorry I added my comments to this post now. Moderators, feel free to delete everything I've ever written on this forum.

Even saying seemingly innocuous things like that to the wrong guest can have very bad ramifications for other CMs down the line. It was terribly irresponsible. Hopefully it was a one off.

Grand Floridian Lobby Refurbishment: Work Continues on Garden Tea Room and Former Front Desk Area

When visiting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort today, we saw that Disney has continued to make progress on the lobby renovation.

From what we could tell, the work is currently focused on the Garden View Tea Room and the former front desk space.

Here is a closer look at the Tea Room area.

Additionally, with the lobby’s iconic bird cage gone, there is now a gap in that area.

Thanks to the lobby’s second-floor balcony, we could see another angle of the construction.

You know, I never really paid it much attention until these photos, but it kinda looks a bit like it's covered in cat hair. Not that I would know about this!

I feel like it looks way worse in pictures then in person but not by much. Definitely looking forward to new carpet which will be the best part of this lobby refurb imo.

It is pretty bad! Reminds me of the time I checked into a hotel in Vegas with my daughter and her friend. We walked into the room, my daughter looked down and promptly said, "this carpet makes me angry". And that carpet was way less hideous than the current GF carpet. I hope it gets replaced!

Just booked a cabana for July 20 this morning. We've done this before at both the GF and the Contemporary.

I might be mistaken, but this was the first time I remember having to pre-pay.

I was able to get a 15% AP discount!

Glad you snagged your cabana reservation. Yes you pre-pay, and won't say forever but it has been that way for a very long time.

Yes, you can. Not sure of the hours, never actually did it, but always see people there.
