Disney's Frozen Strategy

Apparently Disney is taking a page out of James Cameron's play book. Frozen Bluray is not available in 3D. But, just wait... After everyone has bought the initial release, they'll eventually issue the 3d version to get us all to buy it again. I'm having flashbacks of the versions of Avatar that were trickled out.

Yup, bad form indeed. We're skipping today's release and waiting for the rumored fall 3D release. I'm just glad my daughter's old enough now to understand and even agree with me about waiting for fall. Shame on you Disney!!

Then, after the 3D Blu-ray comes out in time for Christmas, they'll announce early next year the "Ultra Deluxe Pack" with some of the deleted songs animated and added back in.

Then, by the time that comes out, 4K Blu-ray will be available, so they'll release it again in 4K.

Then it will go into the Disney Vault, so hurry up and buy!

Not sure what's up with the 3D blu ray, but I bought the digital 3D version via VUDU a couple of weeks ago -- works beautifully. Actually bought the 3D/2D combo and downloaded the latter to iPads. Kids are loving it in both 3D and 2D. I'd assume that if one has a 3D-enabled TV, it can also access a service like VUDU. Maybe the 3D market isn't what some expected and some are determining that it's not worth producing the 3D blu ray? Don't know...

Glad I bought my digital copy three weeks ago. My kids would never make it any extra handful of months to buy it.
