Disney's FORT WILDERNESS CABINS & CAMPGROUNDS Thread

I have a question guys. We are staying at Fort Wilderness Resort and campgrounds. Saturday morning we have a 7am reservation at Crystal Palace. We were told the boat runs at 6:30am. That seems like that is cutting it too close to get there on time. Is there any other way to get there earlier so we aren't late? Thanks for the help.

There is also a bus that goes between FW, WL, and MK. Pretty sure you catch it at the settlement. Maybe ask what time it starts and exactly where to get on.

So excited for our 3rd stay at the cabins in Feb. I love it there. We were at POFQ in September but it wasn't the same. I love everything about the cabins. My adult kids love having a golf cart to ride around in too.

Excited to be booking 3 cabins for our family in May! Any suggestions on setting up the PnP or little kids sleeping situation? One of the reasons for picking cabins is the ability to put our almost-2 + 4yr olds to bed + have our own space.

I'd like to take my 4 year old on the wagon ride and do the campfire. I don't think he can stay awake until the 8:30 ride. Would it be possible to do the wagon ride for 6 pm and make it to the campfire for 7 pm?

The second part of the question if it's not enough time I may do the private carriage ride instead. Do I need advance reservations?

Thanks

Hi all,
We are planning to visit for the day to do activities and stay for Mickey BBQ. Thought it may be fun to rent a golf cart for the day. I read you can pick up at 1 pm, but can we drop it back the same night? Is the office still open at 9pm??
Any advice would be great. Thanks

Hi Ruth
In my experience you can drop your golf cart off anytime. Our flights are usually really early and even if we leave at 4 in the morning there's always someone at checkin. Also there's a cart drop off where you can just leave the cart and drop the keys in a drop box.

Thank you hangwild that's really helpful. Do you think it would be worth hiring one? I fancy a drive round the site as well doing activities.

For myself the golf cart is a must for a leisurely day at the fort. It just makes getting around very easy, and it's fun too. I pick one up when I get there and drop it of when we leave and I wouldn't have it any other way. But that's just me.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the fort no matter which way you decide to go.the main thing is to have FUN.

Hi! We are considering a stay at the cabins for our family of 4 in December. I have a few questions.

1. Do the boats to/from Magic Kingdom run late on special event nights? Like would we be able to take the boat back to Fort Wilderness after the Christmas party ends?

2. I have never used the boats as transportation, so just to clarify:if I take the boat from Fort Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom I will bypass the need to take the large ferry or monorail from the TTC, correct? Where is the boat dock at Magic Kingdom?

3. I am considering an off site golf cart rental. I read through this thread and see that it is sort of hard to make happen now. If anyone has recently rented from an offsite company and would be willing to PM me about it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

1. Yes.

2. Correct, you will bypass the TTC. The boat dock is out by the water in front of the MK gates. Instead of going right to the Monorail or left to the Buses, head straight towards the water.

3. Sorry, can't help with this.

1. Yes the boats run as late as they have to to get everyone back after the parties. We were there til 1 am last December and caught the boat back, no worries.
2 the boat dock is straight down from security under a canopy in case it rains I guess and yes you bypass the ttc.
3. We've only used the on site carts so sorry , can't help you out on that one.

Hello! The disers on the camping board can give you more info on offsite golf cart rentals although it seems to be a challenge. We have rented only from disney as well. We could not do without it. Makes everything so much easier. We stay in early May (crowds are low by most standards) and they always have the sign up at check in saying they have no available golf carts. So reserving ahead of time is a must. We love using the boats and we go to MK every night and just park the cart at the marina and take the boat!

How far in advance do you tend to rent the golf cart?

I rented mine today for the end of February.
If you wanna give em a cal the bike barn # is 407-824-2742

When you call to reserve the cart do you have to put a deposit down or pay in advance? Or do they just take your credit card number and charge you when you pick it up?

They just take you cc number.
They don't charge your credit card til you pick the cart up or drop it off. I forget which.

Nothing in advance. The just take your cc# to hold the reservation. They never have asked for our cc at FW we just had to show them the paper we got from check in. I know they have always said we would be charged 24 hours prior. I have never looked during the trip but it is always there when we return. I think we have always made the res after booking our package so we have made ours five at the earliest months and two at the latest in advance.
