Disney's Fiscal Year End DVC Sale .... Questions [NEW UPDATE (post 1)]

All I am trying to do is verify what the purchase price is. It has nothing to do with waiting things out. My DH and I have been wanting to add on for months and I have been stalking resell everyday. When anyone is ready to buy they want to get the best deal possible at that given time.

Maybe, just perhaps, you could consider this salve to your current add-on-itis. Just maybe it isn't the right time??

When my DH and I are presented with a 'hot deal' that doesn't impress us ... we thank the salesperson, turn around and breathe a sigh of relief. It wasn't our time.

When it is the right time -- you'll know it with deep, unavoidable certainty. Until then ... any chance you could just wait things out?

Got'cha. Best wishes!

Having initially purchased my DVC in 1997, one thing I will say with certainty. Promotions may come and go, and change but your best price will be what you get today. Waiting, whether it be weeks or months will pretty much mean you will pay more.

Now, you may find different contract prices if you are looking at resales, but direct from DVC probably means the price will go up. In fact, I just received an Aulani mailing that states the price per point will rise again on November 1, 2010.

So, there may be different offerings, developer points, park passes, cruises, etc. but your bottom line price should not drop considerably if you wait months. Again, unless you seek out resale where you will find some fluctuation.

DVC Guides do not have leeway in arranging prices nor promotions. They are written in stone with DVC, and no matter what, the price you pay with them will be fixed by DVC. No negotiating on new DVC contracts.

I'm a little grumpy that they decreased the incentives before adding the "$2 off sale." To add on 50-99 points is now $114 after discount instead of $112 - and not eligible for the extra $2 off. The $2 sale is only good on 100+ points, and they lowered the regular incentive, so it actually costs more than it did before the sale. *sigh* Kicking myself for not adding on back in June before the price increase and not-great incentives.

This illustrates the point I was making above. Prices will go up over time. Promotions come and go, but your bottom line price will always rise with time.

Also, I have not seen anything from DVC regarding a "$2 off sale". I will check this out when I see the many DVC Guides who are coming up to Chicago for this week's DVC event, and will report back here. :)

Carol - agreed that points cost just keeps going up direct from DVC. However I continue to be shocked at how much the increases have been along with decreases in discounts over the past year, in light of the economy. But if DVC sales are going well enough that they can raise their prices, I can't really fault them. I'm not grumpy with DVC for raising prices in general. Except I'm a little irritated that they actually decreased incentives and are calling it a sale. We'll probably be adding on in the next week or so anyway. I have a call in to my guide to verify everything.

Another interesting thing, with the current incentives, BLT and AKV are now the same price direct.

I also just heard from my guide that it takes a purchase of 100+ points to get the extra $2 off. When they were reading the promotion to me there never was a mention of a minimum. I had been wondering if anybody else had been given this information too. :sad2:

I agree with you 100% about increasing the price then calling it a "sale".

I talked to my guide on Monday and he never mentioned that the $2.00 promo was for 100 points and above, but then again I told him I was looking to get 125 points and maybe that is why he didn't mention it. To add 125 points, the price would be $12 off of the base price of $120.00.

Another way to look at it:

An extra $2 off of 100 points is an extra $200 off. If it applies to 50 points, then an extra $100 off.

Compared to the total cost and especially compared to the maintenance fees over the life of the contract, this is a very small amount.

If you have decided to buy, is that amount really worth agonizing over? If the answer is yes, then ask yourself if you can really afford the purchase.

I think my DH and I are the only one that would have benefited from waiting! When we bought BLT the incentive was 5.00 off, not knowing any better we bought 160 points. Since Feb I have not seen the prices that high anywhere and 8.00 - 12.00 off seems to be the average with each incentive.

With that being said AKV base price was 112.00 with a 15.00 incentive for a price of 97.00 per point. Which at the time we wanted location (even though we loved AKV)

Such is life..... Still happy we purchased.
