first, i must say, i am tickled to death that they are finally going back to the traditional musical animation they are so known for. honestly, im over the computer animation junk. its a sweet idea with a cute storyline.

but i heard that some people are getting upset over this.

any thoughts?

Sounds good. They're finally! getting back to there roots!

I think it's cute sounding, as far as the princess being black, it does not bother me in the least. Actually I think it's a good idea.

party: yes! no more sequel crap! [sorry! XC ]

I think this looks cute!

Looks Cute! I dunno if her style will fit in with the other "Disney Princess'" but I think Disney will make it so that whenever you think of Disney Princess' you think of her.

Kudos to Disney.

i'd.
look at it.
if my computer.
wasn't.
a piece of crap.
i can only.
get on the DIS.
google won't even load.

And, when I try to troubleshoot with MSN the page won't load, so I don't know what's wrong.

I'm glad they're going back to the original stuff, I miss the musicals.

That looks really cute.
I'll definately go see that.

I can't wait. Honestly, no one knows how happy I am, that they're making a movie starring an African American princess.

It's going to be 2 years before it comes out.
o.o

Finally getting back to their roots, I like that idea. I think I could see alot of controversy over the first black Princess, but I think it's about time. As the article said, there is a Chinease, Indian, and Middle Eastern Princess.
Yay for Disney!

I can not wait until this movie comes out. I am so excited that they are going to be doing animation again :]]]

Looks...odd.. I don't know... I don't see why people got so upset about there not being a black princess........

Wh-wha-what?! *spazzes* Dang, I hadn't heard of this yet, but huzzah! Finally a movie that's not a sequel or thrown-together computer animation! Ths story sounds so cute, and I like that example of art. Is there any concept art or character designs besides the princess available yet? Ooh, I wanna know what the style will be like, I don't remember a Disney movie with a setting like that before (or if there was, I just forgot. Hah.) What about the head animators, are they already established animators or newcomers? Have their names been announced yet? *Crosses fingers for Sergio Pablos to be heavily involved* Do we know any of the lead character animators, or heck, background animators as well? What about the directors, the writers, and the producers? How many of Disney's animation team and other producers are actually still working for them? But I'm mostly concerned about the writers right now than anything else- I want names! At this point, the one thing I want more than anything else in a movie is a decent story, which I KNOW Disney is still capable of doing, even if they don't often do their best. Here's hoping this movie's creators expend more energy on making the best movie they possibly can as opposed to making one that's marketable, because the potential is definietly there.

I can see where the controversy may be coming from, though; a lot of people are likely to be troubled by the setting, I mean... New Orleans? That's still a very sensitive subject to most people. But if it's handled in the right way, sensitively and not awkward, I do think it could be alright.

...Also

GAAH! RANDY NEWMAN! *twitchspaz* He's absolutely brilliant, the icing on the cake! *Now very much wants to hear the soundtrack* <3333333

EDIT: *Smacks forehead* Heh, I just read the last part of the aritcle that apparantly I missed the first time reading through *stupid*. So they actually chose New Orleans as a setting to pay tribute to and help the city? That's just plain awesome. But I have to wonder then... where's the controversy coming from? Weird. Oh, and Clements and Musker directing and writing? For the friggin' WIN! Although I also just saw the release date... 2009. Oi. But with any luck, the lengthy wait will mean that theey're taking their time and putting as much effort as possible into the film. My faith in Disney's movie making area is being steadily restored. :goodvibes:

Okay, I probably shouldn't double post, but I found a few of the pictures shown at their recent press conference and wanted to show them here.

^This one you've all already seen, I presume. This is Maddy, the heroine. Lovely design, I must say. :goodvibes:

^As far as I can tell this isn't the same person, and after shecking the cast list on Wikipedia I'm going to venture a guess and suppose that this character is Charlotte.

^Concept art! It's set in the French Quarter, and this is just a scene showing the city. A beautifully drawn and undeniably nifty scene. ^^

^Not exactly sure what this one is supposed to depict, bsides it being a parade, but it's pretty anyway. :P

~And here's the logo for the film, which I think looks very nice.

Also, I found out that the producer, Peter del Vecho, worked on the production team of Hercules! Hopefully he'll bring some of that wonderful off-beat stylization of Hercules to this movie. Oh, and there's going to be singing alligator. Yeah.
