Disneys First 10 Night Cruise

MoranClan is correct! Disney has never offered a 10 day crusie before. Due to the hurricane the Magic altered its schedule and they gained 3 extra days!

This December the Magic will do another 10 day cruise do to the holidays falling.

Sorry to burst your bubbles....but spending the night in port in Galveston is not exactly cruising.

I agree with disaddiction828........

And somehow I get the feeling that the title of your thread was a deliberate attempt to upstage the cruisers going at Christmastime.
I seriously doubt that they are jealous.

Glad u All had a Magical time on Your Cruise 7 nights plus 3 nights

Thanks again for the live updates From the Ship..

And The Car Was Fine ???

Great pictures. I, too, enjoyed your posts while on the cruise. It was nice to put a face with the name. Your kids are cute. Love the picture of the blue "frog".

Thank You so much for posting the pictures. I especially liked the pictures of the Magic in Galveston - many of these pictures reminded me of our vacation in Galveston a few years ago. I also enjoyed reading your live reports last week. Sounded like an adventure to always remember.

maybe you have no time on your hands..But what we went through on our cruise..Not knowing when we would get home, how our cars were, was a bit hectic..I understand that our cars and way home in now way is as important as the people in the storms path..But give me a break...

I am not trying to upstage anyone..this is what I was told by the ships crew..maybe its you and the other person that are jealous..

All I stated on this thread was that it was DCL's First 10 night cruise...

Maybe Galveston texas isnt exatly cruising..but When the Sun Sets and then Rises the next morning, dosent that constitute a Night?..Just Curious..

and by the way...We arrived in galveston at 7:30 am and departed at 2:00Pm...So you tell me...Where does that night fall into place?..Again Just curious?...

Like I said..maybe its you who are jealous..

Thanks for your comments

Bobby

Yo Bobby...you causin' trouble? Just kidding!! It was really cool to meet you and your family. I'm glad your car was okay...mine too. Even the little mickey topper made it through with no problem. I had visions of all of our cars being swept out to sea.

Being on the ship for 10 days was cool...and visiting Costa Maya was a neat experience. I wonder if Disney will add Costa Maya to any future cruises?

Anyway, I'd be glad to have been able to get off the ship after 7-nights, if that meant that all those folks in FL (and the Carribbean) could have avoided Frances. 10 days did give you enough time to do alot more, see more movies, and hang out with crazy DIS folks. Hopefully more people also got to eat at Palo...since they had the extra brunch and dinners.

the "other" Ginny

PS --- Galveston was cool...for a brief stop. I really like the quaint little shops in the historic district.

PPS --- Don't let any flames from others get you down. You were telling the truth... and with the 10-night cruise did come alot of other things.... worries about home (we had friends onboard who are from FL and who couldn't reach anybody to find out about damage to their homes), etc. Yes, we had a great time -- it is a Disney cruise --- but the uncertainty of what awaits you (and NO way to find out) is surely something that will cause a number of folks to rethink hurricane season. We're thinking of Eastern - Sept 3 for next year...but now we know what those little disclaimers really mean.

Thanks for sharing the pictures! That is an amazing thing to see the Wonder & Magic together. I will admit that I am jealous about that opportunity. :)

Good grief! I am laughing at the nonsense that is brewing in this post. I would be happy spending 7 nights on The Magic going up and down the channel. As long as I am on the ship I am cruising & having a great time. I'm sure that noone on the ship set out to be the first 10 day cruise on The Magic and if they truely had their way, they would have disembarked in a noneventful way on the Saturday that they were scheduled to be back in PC and gone on with their lives as they had planned. It sounds to me like they are making the best of the situation that they didn't ask to be placed in.

Hey Bobby ... Don't let these idiots out there get to ya, they're just jealous because they weren't able to be the FIRST to be on a 10 Night DCL cruise....we enjoyed ourselves and Galveston very much and appreciate the extra 3 nights FREE courtesy of Hurricane Frances as well as meeting you and your family and hope to do it again soon .... Andy

You guys had the most fabulous 10 night cruise of all! It wasn't planned, It was completely spontaneous and it sounds as if you all handled it like pros. Congrats to all of you. We did a back to back and was on the ship for 14 nights and I must admit by day 9 and 10, you do start getting a little stir crazy!

Glad you made it back safely and here's hoping that all the other cruises do the same. I was confident that the Captain would keep you all our of harm's way.

Bobby

It was so nice to meet your family. Your kids have the sweetest faces. They ALWAYS waved to us whenever they saw us. We loved it.

10 night cruise? Well, the way I count, 9 comes after 8, and then comes 10. I can assure you that I woke up 10 times in Cabin 7056 on the Disney Magic.

I think we all made the best of it and we all had our share of concerns. It was a relief to see our rental car sitting unscathed in the Radisson lot. I also remember wandering around deck 10 with my cell phone searching for a signal, praying for a signal. I have 2 boys living in FL and I was so concerned for their safety. Capt Tom kept us out of harms way and I am grateful for that. I also had to make my own flight arrangements because Spirit would not talk with Disney (that's another story). We decided, worse case scenario, we would just drive the rental home to NJ. Glad we didn't have to do that! And I worried about all our DIS friends who were driving home.

I had a ball on our extended cruise. But the uncertainty of it all was a little unsettling. We didn't know when or where we were getting off the ship. Or what we would find once we did. DCL did a super job. But for obsessive planners (we are all on the DIS for a reason, LOL!) like me it was a lesson well learned.

So, for those of us on the 8/28/04 TEN NIGHT CRUISE, it will always be the first and the best.

Thanks for sharing space, Bobby.

I feel I must step in here and post about Bobby. If you ever met Bobby & his family then you would know that he would NEVER try to upstage anybody. When we talked about door magnets on our cruise meet thread, Bobby offered his time, money & materials and lost a printer in the deal to print out around 150 magnets for all us DISers. When we wanted to share an internet package, Bobby stepped up and put it on his account, no questions asked, and at that point we were all strangers. He took time out during his cruise to update everyone here on the DIS boards of what was happening on our cruise. No doubt this information helped the 9/4 cruisers make their plans and decisions. Some days he waited on long, long lines to dash off a quick update here on the boards. He is a fine person and you're picking on him and we don't like it. The fact of the matter is we were the first 10 day cruise - big deal, who cares? Bobby was just making an observation. Do us a favor, go split hairs somewhere else.

Hi all...Seeing the Wonder dock behind the Magic was AWESOME!

We were on deck 10 aft and the Wonder guests were chanting WONDER,WONDER, WONDER and then the Magic guests were chanting MAGIC, MAGIC, MAGIC. Then the crew (it seemed to look like the crew, but maybe not) on the Wonder started chanting DISNEY ROCKS, DOSNEY ROCKS etc. It was incredible to watch a huge ship like the Wonder just glide right up to the dock.

10 night cruise, yes it was, but I would have LOVED to be home after 7 nights like we had all planned. Everytime the you heard the "When you wish upon a star" tune, you knew the captain was going to tell us we weren't going home yet.

For those who are stating that we weren't the first 10 night cruise, well we WERE but not by choice, by way of mother nature. Although I wished I were home, I have to THANK CAPT. TOM for keeping us safe and out of rough waters and safe. Disney did what they had to do and they did it well. They also put all of us up at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort (free of charge) if you didn't have a flight out on Tuesday and then provided transportaion back to the airport. It was handled very well, considering they had to do NOTHING for us.

Was speaking to someone who was on the Carnival Glory and they stated that Carnival just bussed them to the airport and then they were on their own.

It was great meeting everyone, and an adventure to last quite a while.

Joanna

Thank You for sticking up for my Bobby, It wasn't necessary. It was great meeting you and your lovely family, and I will enjoy keeping in touch with you and all of the other great DISers we met last week. Glad everyone got home safely. Sandy- The girls are shouting HI!!!!!!

I'm proud to say that I was on Disney's first 10 night cruise. It was not without worry and uncertainty but I would not have traded it for anything in the world. I met some great people, did some wonderful things and went to places I've never been.

And :p to anyone who wants to be negative about it. Surely you have something better do to with your time.

GREAT picture's Moranclan!!:Pinkbounc

Congratulations on being the 1st, yes I said 1st to make DCL history. 10 days!!!

Sounds like some people are being spiteful and Jealous.::yes::

Teri

Moranclan and other 10 day cruisers,

Yes, I am also jealous. I admit it. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Teri

Joanna, you are correct - that was the Wonder's crew chanting DISNEY ROCKS!. The front crew area of the Wonder was packed with crew members taking in the sight of both ships.

I'm pretty sure it is a safe bet that no other cruise line has 2 ships greet each other the way the Magic and Wonder did on Monday night.

I only wish they would have blown the horn! But, alas, the ships are not allowed to blow their horn at night since the port is close to residential areas (according to the Chief Engineer who was leaning against the railing next to me watching the Wonder dock).

Ahh, let them say they are the 10 night cruise - they have to pay for it -OURS WAS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol:smooth:

MoranClan,
Loved the pictures! Thanks for sharing those! I was wondering if you could tell me what beach you and your family went to that are in your book II at the end? And I must say Costa Maya looked like it was a blast! Was that a public pool and show? I for one do envy you! 10 nights for the price of 7!!! I know it must have been a little of a hardship, but if there was a hardship that we all had to be in...That's one I'd take anyday! Glad you made it home safe, and thanks for the reports!
