Disney's Family Portraits. Anyone????

Has anyone used Disney's Photographers to take their family portraits? I called and got all the information, and I think IF we are going to do them I would like to get them done in the Magic Kingdom.

I guess I'm really looking for opinions on whether or not the pictures are worth the money? Of course DH was a little taken-a-back by the price, but given the backdrop, I think it would be worth it. Disney holds alot of special memories for us and I think it would be wonderful to have our portraits taken by a professional there.

So if anyone has ANY experience with this please let me know what you thought, or even if you have one I could see would be even better.

I would love some info (or see an example) on this too. We were thinking about it last trip, ran out of time--too much to do on a first time trip to WDW. But in the future, I would love to have our special WDW time as a family captured.

We get a family picture there every time
normally one of the photographers at one of the attractions or character signings takes it and we pick it up on the way out

the first year we went to a place in MGM and had our photo taken aginst a blank (either blue or green???) screen and then hey edited in a background shot of the castle came out really nice

In November '01, our 8 family members traveled to WDW. We're a small family, but we were coming from California, Ohio, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, and my sister decided that it would be great to have group pictures done.

We were staying at the Dolphin, and we had about 20 - 30 pictures taken. The photographer was very professional and did an excellent job. My sister pick up the tab. We all got to pick our favorite ones as a Christmas present that year.

The pictures were taken at the Dolphin, inside, out on the green with the Swan in the background, and by the fountains. They are great.

We had our portrait taken our first trip to WDW about 8 years ago. It was free because it came with our package. I didn't want to do it but my wife insisted. Now it is not only my favorite Disney memento, it is one of my most cherished items of all. We just got the one 8 x 10 free portrait with the castle in the background and Mickey (in costume) with us.

There are photographers as you enter each park and they will take your photo for free and then you can decide if you like it. We bought ours at both MGM and MK and I had the MK photo put on a mousepad and now I see it every day.

The photography package that you called about is different. I got info about it once too and my dh nearly coughed up a lung. It was something like $200 or $250 and they take several different shots of you at whichever park/resort you want. Is that similar to what you were told or even more now? Funny, ask about having your portrait done with Mickey! If I remember, it was $650.

I inquired about the Disney Photography a couple of years ago and they emailed me some literature. If anyone would like to PM me with an email address, I will send them what was sent to me. Realize that the prices may be a little more now, but it will give you an idea if you would like to persue it with Disney.

We did it on our honeymoon. We loved it. The photographer was great and the pictures are great. It took about 90 minutes, he took us all over the park (to places where others can't go to take pictures) and we won't trade those pix for anything.

We are using them again when we go in October for my Birthday.
