as a family of 4, would we be put into a group w/ other families?
do the 2 hrs go fast?
anything special for the kids?

Our son was 7 when we did it. It was fun for all three of us. Depending on your 9 yr old, he/she may or may not enjoy it. We had about four families on our tour, a total of about 11-12 people.

Not to give away the ending, but it was cool. Very fun for kids.

Imagine yourself hiding from things/people as you hop, skip and jump through the park. Very fast 2 hours.

I went with my family in 2000. It was me, my DH, DS 8, DD 3. We had a blast. I just did it 2 weeks ago with my brother and sister. We are all adults. We had fun. The kids in the group had a lot of fun. We got to pretend we were children again. Too fun!

Our family of 4 did this last year and had the BEST time! Kids were 7 & 10. We are going to WDW again this year and at 8 & 11, my kids really want to do this again.

It's basically a scavenger hunt around MK searching for clues and behaving very silly along the way. It's really aimed at the kids but it's plenty of fun for the adults too if you're willing to act silly and go along. Without giving spoilers, you do meet a character at the end and get to ride on a ride(Without waiting in line) with the character.

I can't tell you how much my children loved this experience! Your kids are the perfect ages. DO IT!

Do you need to make advanced ressies for this? I don't see that kind of info on the WDW Site.

They do limit the number of people who can participate, so you will need to make a reservation. You can call 407-wdw-play or try 800-828-0228(I don't know if you can make one from this number, but I would give it a try!). We did it a few years ago with DS 3, DS 10, and DD 13, and we all had a great time. My older ones were dreading going, but ended up having lots of fun, and enjoyed all of the facts along the way.

I realized I didn't answer these questions.

1)Yes you would be put into a group with other families. I want to way there were 12 to 14 people in our group made up of 3 or 4 families.

2)The 2 hours did go pretty fast but it was HOT. They gave us water bottles at the beginning of the tour and I remember thinking they should have given them out in the middle of the tour because we were sweating by then. We went the first week in June. We enjoyed it and the time went quickly but when it was over, we were ready to sit down and relax due to the heat.

3)The whole thing is special for the kids! It's all about them. They take turns reading the clues and everybody "hunts" them down and the tour guide specifically talks to the kids and gives them hints and things.

Just talked to a very nice CM at WDW-TOUR (WDW-PLAY is for golf and water sports...)
I was concerned that it was avaliable on week-days only (DS's b-day is the 1st Saturday we're there).
But good news! Daily means all-7!

I'll talk to "the boss" tonight, to see what day we should aim for, and move on from there....

We (Me, DS8 & DD 6 1/2) just did this in December. And eventhough they already did it, they want to do it again in October. It was great fun for the kids & the kids at heart.

They do put you with other families, but when we did it, it was a total of 2 adults & 4 kids & the tour guide.

Do you all think this would be fun for families that have been to WDW numerous times? We've been there so often that something a little different might be nice.

We are doing the Family Magic Tour on Sunday March 14. My 10 year old DD can hardly wait. My 16 dd is going on a ski trip and is jealous she is not getting to do the tour. Almost time for us to start the single digit dance.

This is the exact reason our family did this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and saw some things we had never noticed before too. You should go for it!

Be warned, you must be prepared to act silly. ie: skip, jump, make noises etc. My kids now want to do it again they enjoyed it so much. they're 8 & 11 by the way.

Glad to hear that 8 and 11 year olds enjoy it - I'm hoping to do this with a 12 yr old and 10 yr old in August.

I was told that by the CM when I booked it...
I've got no problem acting like that at home. It'll be extra fun to have an audience.
The Missus looked at me like I had 5 heads last night when I told her that. She'll get into it though...

Like cruisnfamily, this is the whole reason I'm doing the Family Magic Tour!! DD(7) and I have been together 6 times. I thought it sounded like a lot of fun.
The more I read about it, the more excited I get

We just did this tour on Tuesday, and had a great time. My boys are 8 & 11 and since they were the oldest kids in the group they got to read the map and were able to participate a little more.

There we 11 in our tour total. Our group of 4 and 2 other families. The 3 little girls in one family were a little shy, and didn't participate very much.

In the end there was Peter Pan, and he was a HOOT!! He talked non-stop, took lots of pictures, and spend alot of individual time with each of the families...think Peter Pan on speed!! He took all of us on It's a Small World, and my boys got to ride up front with him, again the little girls wanted no part of being near him!!

It was a great tour!
