Disney's Family Magic Tour

Has anyone done this scavenger hunt ?
Care to share your impressions, thoughts, etc...

We did this in August 2006 - it was very fun! Our then 8 yo daughter LOVED it - and our then 15 yo son had fun even though he was too "cool" to admit it then (LOL) The story behind it is that Peter Pan has stolen Capt. Hook's hook and you're on a hunt to find it & return it or Capt. Hook will turn the MK into a pirates playground and you wont' be able to come b/c you're not a pirate. The guide we had was fabulous - you hunt for certain things in the MK and follow clues on a treasure map - you have to be willing to act a little silly.

I can fill in more details - not sure if you want it "spoiled" or want some surprises for yourself!

We did it many years ago and had lots of fun doing this. We started at City Hall with our guide and the other guests and hopped/skipped/jumped all over the MK looking for the treasure. At the end there was a special guest who rode with the party on one of the attractions. My son rode with our guide because he thought she was so nice. I think my son was about 7 when we did this.

Signed our family up to do it this August. With the Disney Visa discount it came out to about $19 per person. Not bad for 2-1/2 hours.

It is fun and interactive. My family did it a few years ago. Both the kids and Adults had a great time.

Do you have to have kids to sign up? I am a big kid and think I would get a real buzz out of this, but I do not have any kids.

A tour the whole family can enjoy is offered at the Magic Kingdom. Family Magic Tour takes you on a one-of-a-kind interactive tour through Main St, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. During the 2 hours, you are taken through the park's themed lands in search of clues (like a treasure hunt).

Offered daily at 10 a.m.

And any age can do it - it's just a fun time.

btw - one of my favorite memories from the trip is of my son (15 then, 17 now) - when we were all "walking like robots" was questioned by our guide on why he was walking normally responded "I'm audio-animatronic" without missing a beat.

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like I, as well as some family members, would thoroughly enjoy this tour. I will have to put this on the itinerary for our Aug trip...

Our August trip we will be there Aug 21-28 then off to DCL through Sept 1.

Can you tell me how much walking is involved (does it take you from Tomorrowland to Adventureland and back?) We have grandparents going on our Thanksgiving trip and want to know if they should be included or not. It sounds like tons of fun!!

There's a lot of walking. We started at City Hall and walked to Tomorrowland then behind the castle to Liberty Square. We got a 15 minute break but other than that we were on our feet walking around.

That's the route we took, too - it was kind of a lot but no back tracking or anything - you just kind of covered the park. Also they didn't walk really fast. (not like keeping up with teenagers heading for Space Mountain after the rope drop. ) I think it depends on the grandparents - if they keep up all day at the parks, they're probably fine. (like my dad - he's in his late 60's - he'd be absolutely fine) If they rest alot during the day anyways or have trouble keeping up sometimes - they may want to skip it. (like my mom - same age, totally not as in shape as my dad! LOL) My grandmothers couldn't do it -but then they're in their 90's now.
