Resort Thread Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS Resort

Almost done with our stay :(

Tower and Club still great. Busses still terrible.

Can’t wait to plan the next stay, if we come back to Disney again!

What's wrong with the busses? Any tips?
Just takes forever to see one from any parks or Springs. Especially Springs. Stop is next to Boardwalk and twice there was a 4:1 ratio this week. 4 stops at the resort doesn’t help either.

My tip would be Lyft/Uber :)

OK. We just plan to use the busses to and from CSR to the parks. Based on our visit last fall, it did seem forever that the bus we needed took forever leaving the parks to go back to the resort. That's a given. However, when we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, there were screens that would show the times for pick-up for certain parks. We made sure we were at the pick-up location ahead of that time. Only one day did the bus not show on time. Does CSR have those screens?

Yes. The screens are there, not so much of a problem going out, although, depending on which stop you’re at, seating could be a problem. It’s the coming back that seems to be the tougher task. Lots of waiting while other hotels may see multiple busses.

Then again, we could have just had bad luck. However it does seem pretty common when we stay here, which is a lot considering I love the tower.

Has anyone visited the El Mercado food court recently? In January, both the food selections and staffing levels were very limited... any improvements?

Just heard that the Ranchos pool is closed soooo disappointed I requested a room in Ranchos as that is our favorite pool.

Not with an ECV😪

The rancho quiet pool closed for refurbishment on Sunday, August 14 and is scheduled be completed by late September.

That was closed when we were there 2 weeks ago, but didn't realise it was a long term closure. We were staying in Casitas but prefer the quiet pools in the afternoon (not one for noisy pool activities and music at full blast at the Dig Site).

Has anyone tried to call Coronado reservations to request a certain building? From what I have read elsewhere, it can be done.

I've also read that the 'Standard' room we booked is available in all buildings. However, I am not sure which building will be best for our party of 3 adults and 2 children. 🤷‍♀️ I've read that Coronado is not as children friendly than other resorts because it is a convention resort (which we did not know when booking.) 🤦‍♀️ But the main reason that I want to call is to see if our rooms can be close by to each other. They do not have to connect.

We use buses ALL the time, except for going to, or, coming from, Disney Springs.

Every single resort we have stayed at has had a Disney Springs busing problem.

Every resort we have wanted to go TO from Disney Springs has been a problem.

We use Uber/Lyft every time DS is involved.

If you plan on rope dropping the parks, I would request Casitas. Bus stop #2, which is the first picked up, is right near Casitas 4, so you wouldn't have to worry about the bus filling up before it gets to your stop. There is also a quiet pool right there.
If you aren't rope droppers, then Cabanas is a nice area and close to the main pool.

Thank you very much! We do plan to try and rope drop.

Since you brought "rope drop" up, I have a couple of questions pertaining to hours. Early entry appears to be at 8:30am for all parks when we are there in October. We would like to be at each park by 8:00am. If we leave the hotel by 7:30, will we have enough time?

Does Coronado Springs qualify for the extended night hours? I have a feeling the answer is not.

I read on a park savers site that one could get in line for an attraction before closing, and then be allowed to ride the attraction after the park has closed. Is this true?

For rope drop, I would want to be at the bus stop at least 75 minutes before early opening time to ensure being among the first ones into the park.
Coronado is a moderate resort, so you are correct that it does not qualify for extended evening hours
Yes, as long as you are in line for an attraction before the park closes, you will be allowed to stay in line and ride. I have heard some reports where people have said that some of the extremely popular rides have cut their lines a little before park close, so I wouldn't cut it too close.

Thank you for the ride information. As for getting to the bus stop before 7:15, it will be tight. It's that Genie+ scheduling at 7:00am that will slow things down. I am really going to miss FAST PASS!

We just got back yesterday from a weeks stay and totally agree about the buses. We had to take an Uber/Lyft way too many times.

Question... we're thinking about a long weekend trip around mid Oct. Spouse & myself, but we're undecided about taking our teen daughter (under18)

If I lookup (on the Disney website) a Gran Destino Tower room for just 2 adults, I get results back with availabilities for Tower Water or Standard View with 2 queen beds and it says "sleeps up to 4 adults".

But if I change our party to include the teen, these all go away. Hardly any availabilities.

Why?

And what if we book the room for just 2 adults, but decide later to add the teen... clearly she could sleep in the second queen bed. Could this be done? Or what's the problem?
