Yes usually disney is great with making up for things and I don't think they are in this situation.

Called back this morning and explained that we aren't too happy with this change and the CM said the best she could do was put a note that we request a room close to the lobby. Definitely don't feel like it's the best they can do but I guess we will make the best of the situation.

I thought I posted our dates already, but maybe not, lol! We will be going to CSR December 20-27. It's our first time for Christmas, and our first time at CSR! Very excited! Myself, my husband our our two sons ages 15 and 11.

We will be there same as you (though we leave 26th)!

So sorry  I KNOW you will have a great time and keeping a positive attitude will help greatly!! It's Disney, you know you'll have fun;)! I am waiting for the dreaded phone call now myself as we are traveling very close to your dates...

Please change my dates to Nov. 4-9. Our trip was booked 3 months ago but my dog sitter just booked a trip to the Bahamas for the same dates as our trip! :scared:

It will cost me a little more in airfare, and we will be staying one less night which I'm not happy about. Plus, flying home on a Sunday night will make for a very long, depressing Monday (normally we fly home on Friday or Saturday so we have a day or 2 to unwind, rest, etc.)

The plus side is we can now afford to stay at CSR (BC) for the same price the split stay was going to cost me! Not sure it's worth it with our shorter trip (5 nights) but I don't know when we will be back again so I'm doing it. DD16 assumes we are staying at Pop again, so this will be a nice surprise. :cool1: And worst case if money gets tight before then I can always "downgrade" to Standard and hope for the best with our room location.

We will still be there for F&W and if all goes well, we will be able to catch the start of Osborne Lights which we LOVE. Also, it should be less humid than in October. Yes, I'm trying to convince myself this is a good thing we have to delay and completely reschedule our entire trip.

As are we. There are already several notes on our reservation about accessibility (when my husband booked at CSR, he asked for a handicap accessible room, during booking, he was originally told that would not be a problem, but by the time he was finishing up, the room was not available, so they put us in a preferred saying it should still meet our needs and they would make a notation on our reservation; then after I started reading this thread, I became worried about being able to get around, so I called back to check on accessibility, and they again looked for an accessible room with out success, but again offered to make notations on our reservation). They have previously asked if we would like to be moved to another resort to accommodate the need for an accessible room. We have declined because we have wanted to stay at CSR for a while now, and we finally have the chance. However, if we get that dreaded call, my husband is ready to consider changing. :guilty:

We transferred over to CSR after FD was released, thus we were put in a preferred after FD started.

Just wondering how this will work. I'm going to be highly upset if we happen to be the only people that get called to change reservations considering we booked this trip before FD was even discussed.

DH feels like we booked well in advance of free dining because we were going to DW regardless of if FD came out or not and now that other rooms have filled up because of FD, we are getting left overs.

I think they just want to play this by ear and see what options are available to them when you check in. My gut is telling me you will end up with something you are happy with. They will either put you in a juicy waterview room in Casitas 4 (my favorite location before there was Business Class rooms), a nice waterview in Cabanas or they will put your in one of their suites to make it up. If they are too full to make this happen they will look at the possibly of upgrading to a Deluxe at no charge. Typically from CSR I've seen people on here upgraded to AKL, BC, or BWI.

Honestly the only time I've seen on DIS where they didn't do much for people is if all the resorts are near capacity and there just weren't options available.

I think I've read this entire post, but I still have a question... This upcoming trip will be my 34th on property stay, but first time at CS. I have BC standard room booked and wondered about a room view request. We love to have our morning coffee on balcony, I read there are none at this location. If I request first floor is there a patio with chairs? Will I be able to see water, or will plants and bushes be too tall? Also, what floor is the lounge on? Thanks for your help. I really appreciate all the info provided.

The key in my experience is when you are checking in be firm with what you are expecting in a calm professional manor. Don't be rude or emotional. You are negotiating a business deal and you expect them to uphold there end of the bargain or in this case possibly upgrade their end. My wife is always amazed with how I seem to get exactly what I want in these situations, but negotiating is what I do for a living. It's human nature to not want to help rude or overly emotional people. It is human nature to want to help calm and courteous people. The key for me is also a calm professional confidence. In a negation it is somewhat intimidating when the other person seems 100% confident this will be resolved to there liking.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but we always seem to get the exact room we want at checkin. :duck:

You originally said they requested your adjustment due to maintenance. I checked out the refurbishment schedule here.
They don't show any scheduled refurbishments. I am not sure if they consider maintenance the same as refurbishments however.

The lounge is on the 1st floor close to the middle of front side of the 9B complex. There are 23 standard BC rooms. 9 of the front side and 14 on the back. Front side is facing the main lagoon and Digstite pool area, backside has a smaller lagoon. The front side would be considered more desirable by most, however the lagoon out back is nice as well. You will want the 1st floor as you should be able to pull a couple chairs out with out blocking the walkway, on the second floor you would block most of the walkway. The backside would have a lot less people walking by so might be better as well. There are also benches and hammocks out front to sit and enjoy the view.

I did the same thing.

The only thing that makes sense to me at this point is that there is a conference the first two days we are there.

I am thinking that it's most likely that their conference attendees are asking for preferred rooms and they are trying to accommodate them and are trying to move some of the non conference guests around.

You are welcome! That's what DIS is all about!

Because we usually go for 14 nights at a time we have a lot more downtime than most, so I've spent a lot more time exploring the resort than most. We've also stayed in all 3 sections. So I'm glad to share the knowledge to help people plan their stay. :thumbsup2

Here is a pic of the business lounge. 1st floor. It is the size of 4 rooms rooms.

This is the backside of 9b looking at the pond. Lots of turtles sunning.

Traveling with my kids (3 and 2) DH, and mom in September. Really looking forward for this trip. The first one of many, hopefully.:cool1:
