Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

Chose this resort for my May 2015 trip. We have stayed there before but were stuck in the Boonies: in the Ranchos Section. This time I am paying extra for a preferred room in the Casitas. I remember this resort being beautiful and I can't wait to be there once again. Haven't been to Disney is 3 years. Now all I need is for the 2015 packages to come out to book, come on August (Hopefully):cool1::cool1:

Should we be worried about the resort being overbooked? Our friends decided to join us for a few days of our 10 day trip. The only rooms available are suites even if I try to do a reservation for 2-3 days. They ended up at WL, not a big deal. Though now I'm worried it's going to be overbooked and really crowded, when normally it is a "less" crowded time.

Has anyone booked a preferred room? Do you think its worth it?

We are booking preferred room for our next trip. I like to be on top of everything though, the food court and most importantly, the bar:lmao::lmao: It depends though, are you traveling with children? If so then they will definitely like the pool and that is closer to the ranchos sections.

First time staying at CSR...How long of a walk from Casitas to the main Pool at CSR.
We are booked in a preferred room right now?

We actually enjoy walking...I was just wondering?:goodvibes

Thanks,
Michelle

The walk isn't that far. I would say about 5 minutes. You will definitely enjoy the scenery along the way. From the casitas you can take the short cut across the lagoon and may see some wildlife along the way.

Yippee! It's official- we're booked for Nov 20- 28 at CSR Standard room w/ free dining. :)
Now, can someone help advise me on room requests i should make? We've never stayed at CSR & I understand it's very big. Would like to have a room that is near dining area & close to bus stop. Any suggestions?

Happy to have found this thread... we booked for FD this morning, 9/9-9/13 at CSR.

It'll be myself, my DH, and our toddler (2 years 4 months) traveling. What building/ floor/ room would you all suggest? We prefer a central location to transportation and the food court area. Thanks :thumbsup2

Interesting survey yesterday about my April 2014 stay at CSR. They were asking questions about bathroom configurations. I thought it would be about changing to two sinks, but it was about the shower. They showed two pictures, one of the current shower and one of a walk-in shower with pretty tile and no tub. They asked which I would prefer. One of the options was the walk in shower with a small inflatable tub for small children. There were also options about a rain shower head, a full length bench in the shower. and a removable shower wand. The walk-in shower pic looked very nice. It reminded me of the shower in our master bath at Kidani. It had clear glass doors, nice tile work, and a large niche for shampoo and stuff. Just thought I'd share the info with you. Maybe they are planning to redo some of the bathrooms?

The great thing about the big Mod resorts like CSR, CBR, and POR is that even when they're full they don't seem that way. You can always find a quiet place to relax. We go every Christmas for 2 weeks, which is the busiest time of year. It can be crowded at the food court if you go at the popular meal times and at the main pool at certain times. The key is to eat at off meal times and swim at off times or use one of the 3 quiet pools which are rarely packed. Some people dislike the size of the resort, but its one of the things I love about it. You will always be able to find some where to relax. :thumbsup2

Have you used the quiet pool at all? Was wondering if the Ranchos quiet pool would be closer than the cabanas one...

Yay for this thread!! I am another POFQ transplant that took advantage of the FD. I will be going from 12/21/14-12/27/14 with my hubby and dd12. We are all first timers to Disney World and very excited!

I guess all us free diners are checking in! October 27-November 1st but we may add on another night, free dining ends on 11/1 does anyone know if another night would qualify also?
The preferred rooms are full so we are going with the business class, we've never stayed business class or concierge so it will nice.

Are they in the center or on the ends of the buildings? I know you'd suggested a first floor room for ease of the stroller.

For example for Business class the elevator was on the opposite end of the building that was closest to the bus stop1. So it was easier for us to use stairs.

We were in center so I would have had to walk back 1/2 a building length then take elevator then walk the whole building length just to get to bus stop.

Not fun but doable if needed to. We didn't need to. She was 18 and could run up and down the stairs:dance3:

YAY! After much stress over planning a Christmas trip for 11, 8 of which are Disney newbies or only one trip, our TA scored us FD at CSR this AM! Very happy!!!

Now to hope you all will take pity on a CSR newbie and help with the myriad of questions I know I will have. First off - best things to do around the resort with two 18 month olds??? (other than pool). We will be taking long breaks midday and I want to come up with lots for DD and nephew to do when not at the parks.

Our stay goes past FD by several days; as long as you check in during FD you should be able to keep it for length of stay. Not sure if you can add a day to preexisting rezzie but you definitely can have FD outside the dates as long as you start inside!

I am taking care of trip arrangements for a friend's family, and they are taking my DD11 along on the trip. I booked them at CSR with free dining this morning. They wanted POR but of course it wasn't included. The more I read about CSR the sorrier I am that I won't be going with them. It looks beautiful. I think the girls will love the pool, and the adults will love the view across the lake at night.

I chose the Business Select category for them. Now that I have looked at a map, I see that it isn't the closest building to the Dig Site, but it seems to be centrally located between the pool area and the main buildings. This is their first ever Disney trip (my friends, not DD) and I want to make things as easy as possible for them. Any opinions as to whether or not Business Select is a good option for first-timers?

I think they will visit the Dig Site every day, and probably have dinner at Pepper Market twice. They were planning to take quick breakfast items with them (cereal, granola bars) but I'm thinking they won't need to do that with the lounge options in the morning.

ETA: They are going in early September.

The BC rooms are very close to the pool. There is a bridge across to the pool in front of Cabanas 9B. 8A is probably a few steps closer, but nothing to be concerned about. Plus you can't guarantee 8A and 9B is much closer to the food! :)
