Also is ground floor really louder?
First time traveling with a toddler.
I don't want tons of noise outside the room, but I think ground floor is better for getting a sleeping boy in, still sleeping.
Also if we are on a higher floor, whoever is below us gets the job of listening to him run and jump nonstop.. Lol.

Also if he dashes out the door, he won't fall down any stairs.
On that note, hoping we don't get a parking lot view. :/

I have always preferred ground floor. I have never had any trouble sleeping at any of the resorts (have stayed value, mod. and deluxe).
The only times I have ever noticed noise staying on the first floor, is in the morning as people are getting ready for the day and they walk by. But, we're up for park opening so we don't care. I also think first floor rooms near a pool in the summer are a recipe for noise/ foot traffic. But, that is much more of a concern at the values.

I'm staying at CSR now and on the ground floor. I have 2 young kids, ages 2 1/2 and 4. It's my first time staying on the ground floor and I must say the convenience is nice. We have one of the quiet pools right outside our door and getting up and going has been quick and easy. No elevators or stairs! We have a rental and the parking lot is down a hallway so quick access. And I don't have any complaints about the noise (but I'm also not a very light sleeper). I wouldn't mind a top floor for a view of fireworks but other than that, if prefer a ground floor from now on! And the view isn't really that important here. When you look out your window you'll mostly see the hallway! :) Have a great trip!!!

I know I've asked this before but I can't find it from my phone, can someone link to pics of the 3 areas?
From the video, one of them looks like my old high school (lol) and I'm trying to figure out which.

Also maybe the link to the site that shows you each room's view?
I want to pin that for later.

Lastly, will you get your room assignment at online check in or when you arrive?

If you check the prior FAQ thread to this one, here:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3023399

The first page, specifically post #3, has pictures of each section.

You don't get your room assignment until day of arrival. You can do online check-in 60 days from arrival; it would be impossible for them to know what room you will get in 60 days' time. So many things can happen up until the actual moment of your arrival - rooms can have a maintenance issue and go out of service to be fixed, a current guest can elect to extend their stay and ask to stay in the same room, and more. When I did online check-in for our most recent stay (which was at OKW), I checked the box that they could text me our room number when they knew it, but they didn't before we arrived.

DD didn't make it to the lounge last night to take pics for me, sorry!

Today then went to Epcot around 9:45 for a late Akershus breakfast. They only waited 5 minutes for a bus but it was standing room only. That's the first time they have had to stand all week. They are on their way to the Halloween Party now, and again waited only about 5 minutes for a bus. :thumbsup2

Ok, so I got back Tuesday... WOW!!! Dizdad, you were right! I fell in love!

Staying in the casitas was like a dream. I told the story how I got upgraded to the junior suite and it was phenomenal. We had the huge fountain right outside our window.

The Pepper Market is gorgeous. Almost every night I would get something from the bakery (great stuff!) and just sit there listening to the music play through the room. The walk from the casitas to the main buildings (all 1 minute of it) was incredible. The lights, the lake, the 3 caballeros. Passing people eat in the Maya Grill. The pineapple fountain in the lobby. Fantastic.

This place is perfect... IF you're staying in the casitas. Because if I had a choice between ranchos and All Star Sports I'd probably take the latter. HATED the few minutes I spent in the ranchos.

The cast members here are some of the best I've ever had the pleasure to interact with. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Also as I mentioned before, I had the best cast member I've ever seen help me move from ranchos to casitas. Lauren I believe her name was. Incredible. I filled out one of those "great cast member" cards for her.

However, the one downside here was the bus system. I mentioned this a few days ago and everyone disagreed. I don't know if there was in issue this week but it was BAD. Not a day went by where I didn't see at least two different people complaining to cast members about the buses. 40 minutes would go by without a Magic Kingdom bus, but we'd get 3 to Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney. Buses from Epcot back to the resort were awful too. We were always the last resort to get picked up. One couple told us they waited 45 minutes. Not good.

But aside from that, I loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Might like it better than POR, which is something I never though would happen.

My DD and her friends, who had basically very good luck with the buses this week, did wait 30+ minutes for a bus back from Epcot yesterday around lunch time. :headache:

I'm really worried... We go to CSR next year, I get to check in 60 days before and will make my requests but what if I'm in ranchos??? Are they really that bad?

Were all glad it worked out for you!! Location can make or break any resort for some people. Just make sure next time you book early enough to get a Preferred or Business Class room.

One funny thing about the bus service though is we had another guest who was at CSR the same time as you reporting they were having excellent bus service all week. Maybe the best they have ever had at WDW.

We loved the bus service at CSR. One of the main reasons we are staying here again in October. Don't worry about getting the Ranchos section. I didn't want it at first but I sucked it up and I ended up loving it

It really depends on your perspective. The Ranchos is reasonably close to the main pool, but it is the farthest from the food court. I actually like the Ranchos 7B location around the quiet pool, but would rather not be in the other Ranchos areas.

The walking time/distance is greatly exagerrated by some people however. Its a 8-10 min walk to the food court from the far end of Ranchos. Not 15-20 like some people claim.

Really, most of the WDW resort have far out rooms that are less desirable. The simple way to avoid this is to pay for a better room location. For the people who can't or won't pay for this it is luck of the draw and you really can't complain about the room location.

We always book a Business Class room now at CSR for the guaranteed Cabanas 9B location. The lounge is just an added bonus for us, we book it for the room location.

Ack! Just got a message saying my subscription to this thread was cancelled. Think I hit the wrong button. SUBBING!

Question....I'm booking for Nov 2015. If I book a preferred room, and pay the extra for it, am I guaranteed a Casitas room? What is the best way to be sure I am close to the mail building?

It makes no difference when or if you do the online check-in; if you book a standard room, you can be in Casitas 4 or 5, Cabanas 9A, 8A or 8B, or Ranchos 6A, 6B, 7A or 7B. So you have about a 50/50 chance of being in Ranchos. We've been in Ranchos twice. Once we were on the back side of 6A, facing the parking lot. We were very close to the bus-stop, but pretty far from El Centro. We only went there a couple of times that trip. The other time, we were in 7B, right by the quiet pool (literally 10 steps to jump in) and we thought that location was fine. I timed it and it took us right at 10 minutes to get to El Centro and that was with a small child walking; by myself it was probably more like 8. We were 2-3 minutes from the Dig Site and 3-5 minutes from the Cabanas bus-stop. It was fine.

Yes, the Casitas 1, 2 and 3 buildings are all preferred rooms. If you book preferred, your room will be in one of those three buildings.

We we're put in Rancho section and we didn't like it at all. If u get 7695 in 7b I would ask for a different room. The housekeeping isn't great either. They would never leave enough was rags. 2 was all they ever left even though it was a double room. We had to call down for extras and took for ever to get.

We just got back last night and busses were horrible all week as mentioned before 3 animal kingdom buss would come two hollywood studios and no magic or epcot for like 45 minutes it was rediculous
