How bad are the rooms now if they are refurbishing them? We stayed in connecting rooms at CBR last summer and the rooms were horrible. The rugs were stained, bathroom ceilings were moldy, there was dust accumulation on light fixtures and the rooms just had a musty smell to them. After our last trip my husband didn't want to stay onsite again! I convinced him to try CSR for our August trip. Please tell me the rooms aren't that bad! Should we change to POR?

We just got back from CSR and although I can't speak for other areas of the resorts rooms, the Business Class rooms in Cabana 9B were well taken care of! (We had two of them) . There are not many connecting rooms in 9B though so we had rooms with about 5 in between us. (we had 4 adults and 3 kids so it wasn't a big deal not being connecting. The front line supervisor said there were very few connecting rooms in BC.

From what I've read they are primarily redesigning/updating the bathroom to something more modern. I've read no complaints, only compliments about the conditions of the rooms.

I cannot wait for our first stay at CSR in early November. I splurged and booked a business class room. I was happy to read you had a great stay!

How do you know if there will be a convention during your stay? if they are starting a refurb I would think this will then also limited the # of rooms if a convention is also the same time.

There is a 2014 convention list on Buzz's Coronado Springs website. (You have to google it)

The bathrooms could use be more modern. That said, taking a late shower (after 11pm) or an early one (around 5:30am), the water pressure was INSANE!

Another problem are the toilets. The suction is as powerful as an airplane one, and it's even louder.

That said, beds were very comfortable and everything else was in perfect shape. Well, hopefully they'll put better remotes for the TV or at least configure the sleep button on them. Had to fumble with the TV controls on the side until I figured out how to do sleep.

Kind of dumb question but CSR is one of my choices for next fall 2015. So with the refurb none of the bathrooms will have tubs? If that's the case I guess I will have to knock this resort off our list. My developmentally delayed DS will only take baths. Next year it may change but I don't want to force a shower if he still doesn't like it. If the are eliminating bath tubs then that may eliminate families from staying there if they have small ones.

No one knows for sure what the upgrades are. The pics of the walk-in shower in the survey included an inflatable tub for toddlers. Not sure how that works, but that is what it said. But we don't know for sure that the bathrooms will look like those pics.

This stinks I will be there in aug so i will not have even a slight chance of a newish room. Oh well lol....hopefully we like it and can book it again sometime :)

I called to make some changes to my reservation and my brother's reservation. We are both in 2 Queen bed Business Class - Standard Rooms. I was putting in a request for a lagoon view 2nd floor room (Front of the building). The CM on the phone said that I would have to upgrade to the Business Class - Water View Room and that there were not available.

I thought Business Class Standard was all that was available, that is why I was putting in a request. Does anyone know if this is right?

I also asked for connecting rooms but I recently read there were only about 20 regular rooms and most of those were not connecting. They are mostly king beds in business class. I found this one website that shows what type of beds and what the view is from each room so we probably won't be connected.

She said she put down 2nd floor water view request in the notes so hopefully we will get the front of the building. Either way, I will be in Disney and will be happy!!

Thanks!
Andrea

You are correct. The CM on the phone is mistaken. There is no Business Class waterview category. Just Standard and King. All the rooms have a "water" view. There are 9 on the front side and 14 on the back. I have made the same request as you for our next trip. Hopefully it works out for both of us!

The back side of the building wouldn't be the end of the world, but I would prefer the front side. I think only 5 of the front side rooms are on the 2nd floor. It will really depend on the occupancy the day we check-in.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. We stayed at CSR last November- had never been before and took it b/c of free dining. We were used to staying at POR and were a little skeptical due to conventions, room theming, etc. we couldn't have been more wrong! The resort is absolutely beautiful and the main pool had great theming and an awesome slide enjoyed by not just the kids!! The rooms were modern in style with subtle Mickey theming and everything was very clean and comfortable. We were in a Cabanas closer to the main pool and the walk to El Centro was lovely- and just a few minutes. Be sure to take time to walk around at night b/c the view around the lake with all the lights is very pretty. We are staying again this December and can't wait to return!

First time visiting this site and posting! Love it, thank you for all the updates. I have some questions.

Can someone who is familiar with them give me some info on the Junior Suites? Are they terribly small for suites? I cannot find any real reviews, just general overviews on the few sites I have checked.

Because of the late booking (I just booked over the weekend) the Junior Suite was the best room type for our needs. I was not given the option of BC, apparently there is only 1 Junior Suite in that building and I was under the impression that it had a King, while we need 2 queens. So our options were Casita 1 or 3. I am not crazy about the location after looking at the map but there does not seem to be any other options.

We normally go to the pool every day during our after noon downtime. Is the trek to the pool long enough that it prohibited you from going often? We do not have any physical limitations other than walking in flip flops from the rooms to the pool.

Also we will be there Oct 1-Oct 7, any word about the refurbs on Junior Suites at that time?

One last question-are you more likely to receive an upgrade when checking in in person or online, given the possible refurbs at that time? My guess would be yes, but would much rather hear from you guys. We will be checking in pretty early, like around 8:00.

This is the only question I feel confident answering and whether you do online check in or not has zero affect on getting an upgrade. And just an FYI, if you do online check in you still have to physically check in at the resort.

Thanks for your response! We are getting in around 11 in the morning so hoping our rooms will be ready. What did you ask for? I am thinking of calling back and asking them to put down Lagoon view but I don't want to be a pain. When I called to make my reservations and when I called back to put in the request neither person knew very much about the BC rooms. We are going November 9 - 16th, 2014.

I asked for 2nd floor on the Digsite side. That way there's no confusion about which lagoon or what is the front of the building...lol.

This is the way I made the request last December and it was granted. :thumbsup2

Is it still true to call the resort directly about 10 days before arrival to make your room requests? Or are you guys all calling as you make the initial reservation?

Just wondering, we've never stayed at CSR before so I'm not super picky about where we wind up.

I am going to call back and ask for the Digsite side, 2nd floor. Hopefully this will work for me too! Thanks!

I was calling now and adding the request to my reservation even though it isn't until November, LOL. I am not sure about calling the resort directly. I haven't tried that before.
