Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

This is rather disturbing...we are booked at a Moderate for the first time after staying Deluxe (trying to save $$). Why would any Disney hotel let this go on, I understand it's all wildlife...but RATS...DISGUSTING!! It sounds like most times when you tell a CM they act like it's no big deal. I'm sorry for the money guests are paying I would think a better response is warranted. I may consider switching to a different resort based on several posts about RATS!!!

We saw a rat at Caribbean Beach and at Animal Kingdom Lodge walking around at night. I don't think it matters if you switch to another resort or even a deluxe resort. It is outside where there is lots of food dropped all over, they can only try to keep the numbers down. There are also lots of cats, I can't believe we've never seen one.

Hi all! We are travelling with another family and we both have done online check-in requesting "close to transportation" and "cabanas." Ideally we'd like to be placed in the same building. How can I get that added to both of our requests? I assume I should call WDW reservations? Or the resort direct???

We have been here since late Saturday and no signs of wildlife outside some adorable bunnies, lizards ( by Yacht Club!) and birds. I know people have a tendency to assume that pest control isn't up to par should an animal they don't feel should be around is, however it's not always due to cleanliness standards.

Florida and WDW is a, swamp, and because of this has lots of natural wildlife which isn't always cute and cuddly. It can happen ANYWHERE. If you feel better at a deluxe then by all means you should book it, but don't be fooled into thinking you may never see it there and be surprised.

Something being in your room obviously would be much different. We are loving our stay at CSR and even ground floor haven't seen so much as a mosquito or love bug.

No rat or raccoon sightings in April. My son was all over the resort looking for an armadillo. He never found one. We've been told by CSR CMs they are around. I guess he'll keep looking next year.

Just to clarify my report, I wasn't trying to say that pest control was lacking or that the resort wasn't clean. We love CSR and will return! I know that animals are all around. On this trip alone, we saw an owl swoop down on a rat at AK (in the gorilla area), and a bird dive-bombed my head at the Yacht Club. We also saw a rat outside AKL a few years ago, so wild life is definitely everywhere, regardless of level of resort. I wouldn't worry about it! Yes, the raccoon was worrisome at the pool because it was not afraid of people but I was mostly worried it would come across a child who wouldn't know to back away. We heard that a child was just bit at Stormalong Bay (at y&b club) by a squirrel. Just be cautious and you'll be fine!

What time does the pool close? I recall seeing 11 PM somewhere, but now I can't find the info.
What about the hot tub?

Never saw a rat at CSR or any WDW resort but have seen bunnies, gators, armadillos, lizards, fish and turtles.

I originally had my heart set on Free Dining at Coronado in September. When the dates came out it wasn't available and only Pop Century was available. We booked it and felt okay about it because we were saving around $300 on that. Today, Coronado became available so we switched. Tell me I did the right thing!! (I am very excited to be going to Coronado, and I do not have kids).

We've spent 60+ nights at CSR. Most recently this past Christmas for 16 nights. I've never seen a rat. There are lots of squirrels, but I've seen no rats. Having said that, WDW is built on swamp land so there will be all kinds of wildlife around. There is just as much chance of a rat crossing the path at GF as there is at CSR.

Agreed! I've seen many frogs - but never a rat.

You'll love it....a beautiful resort!

Thinking of stopping at sam a club today and grabbing ten $150 gift card packs to pay my room and other things like food.

Is there anything I should be aware of that would make this idea good or bad?
I have never don't this before but It seems straight forward, call ahead and pay down the room so I don't have to bring the cards with me.
Followed by using my mb to make purchases. As long as I don't go over the $1000 limit and/or stop at the front desk the day before we leave, I'm good???
Tia

On our recent stay last December we were charged midway through our week long trip well before we got to our $1000 limit and then again at our check out. It didn't really matter to us because we were fine with the charges going to our card on file- we just were surprised. This did not happen the year before when we stayed there. That trip we were only charged once at check out. Other DISers have reported this happening as well across resort levels. If you want to pay with gift cards I suggest you stop by the front desk every couple of days to apply the cards to your balance.

Ah! Fantastic. Does anyone know if I will receive another information book? I just got one last week that included Pop Century and information regarding magic bands and what not?
You should receive another booklet for CSR. Do you have a MDE account? If so you can customize your magic bands online.

What is this booklet? I booked CSR for July in March and never received anything (I booked a ticketless package with the summer promotion).

It is a booklet that has the Incredibles on it that says The(your last name)Family's Incredible Vacation. Inside you will find your conf.#, hotel your staying at, arrival date and package type. Info on your resort, the parks, magic bands, fastpasses, dining etc.

I received one when I booked my room-only Pop room in January. But since then I cancelled that Pop reservation and did the ticketless package at CSR and haven't received another booklet. Maybe they don't send it when you cancel and re-book something else?!?
