Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

So, can anyone guess why there would be absolutely NO availability at CSR for the week of December 12 - 19? On the link posted above I saw that Pop Warner was a possibility, but ending on the 12th which shouldn't overlap, and then there was some conference the 13th - 15th. But is it really possible for one convention to take up the ENTIRE resort? I mean, there is no availability in ANY category, I called the reservations line to check to make sure it wasn't a glitch and she said there was no availability on her end either. I'm not set on CSR, I was just looking for some options in case they offer free dining during this week again, because it seems like they are including less and less moderates. I was just so surprised to see nothing available for these dates, considering how far in advance I'm looking! It's not like I'm looking for last minute reservations. Is it a possibility some of these rooms could be released at a later time?
I have a few theories. 1.)It is becoming more common place for people to book a room at a resort in anticipation of Disney offering free dining for those dates at a later time. The problem with this is that if the resort is booked Disney has no reason to offer a discount(like free dining)as an incentive to stay there. This is what happened with Riverside. Last year they excluded POR from free dining and people(some people)freaked out and got mad at Disney for excluding it. Why would they offer a discount for something they have no problem selling without it? What's good for you about this: if you don't care abt free dining and all the free dining chasers who booked prematurely(causing disney to exclude CSR)CANCEL because they don't want to stay there without FD you will know soon after the offers for early december come out and you can then get a room. yay! i would even bet that if enough people cancel disney may offer a room discount of some sort. MY SECOND THEORY(besides the fact that more people have discovered how great the first couple weeks of december are for visiting WDW)is that there is a fairly large group of homeschoolers visiting during that time and i know that most of them who stay on site will stay mod because of the price and value. 3.)I read(maybe on this thread?)that they are doing some maintenance on possibly all the rooms at CSR over time. I know they were changing out water heaters one building at a time and maybe even putting in new double sinks and changing out beds. Since early dec. is a "slow" time of year maybe there is a building or two out of commission for refurb. My two cents. :)

Does every building have an elevator? With stroller I typically request bottom floor but if there are elevators I'm ok being higher.
Next question, how is the noise from neighbors above you? Another reason I usually request 1st floor is so I don't worry about waking anyone below us (4 kids). But if I can avoid making a floor request I will. TIA
Elevators at every building I stayed in and I never noticed walking noise but I'm not in the room much

Originally room rehabs were supposed to start in January, but they are delayed. That December time frame may be a restart or part of a conference block that has not been released to the public yet.

i know that at least one building does not have an elevator. i have 2 small children and will have a double stroller and i have learned that CSR is not the greatest about honoring room requests so i booked business class because i KNOW that building has an elevator and i would prefer not to be on the gf because of noise. If i were you I would call CSR directly and ask about the elevators and explain your situation.

There is apparently one spot that doesn't have an elevator. if i remember correctly it's the 4th floor of one of the casitas buildings. i booked business class bc i have two small children and a double stroller but i dont want to be on ground floor in case of noise and the business class building has elevators. if i were you i'd call CSR directly and ask them. i know they're not great about honoring room requests(or so i've read)but if you have a reservation and call them directly and let them know your concern i'm sure they will be able to make a note so that you don't end up in that one building. i've called them directly about a couple of things and they are very pleasant(though not very "disney")and helpful.

That's where I have us booked now, in Business Class, but we may be changing our dates so I was thinking just booking standard rooms - figuring that gives me the best opportunity to get connecting rooms. That's the most important request for us of course. We also rent double stroller, that's why first floor is so convenient at moderates. I'm seeing a lot about people worrying about the noise on the first floor (outside of the room? or from above?) - do you find that at CSR often? Didn't have that issue at CBR with any outside noise, but we were facing a courtyard - so I guess like anything else its the luck of the draw. How do you get ahold of the resort directly, isn't it all an automated phone call center?

We always request (and get) ground floor, and I've never heard any noise from above us.

I agree. We were just there a couple of weeks ago. Stayed BC and rarely if ever heard any noise. I always request ground floor and have only once not gotten it. But that wasn't at CSR.

I have a question: on rope drop days we will come back mid day and i will put my toddler down for a long nap. the noise i thought may be an issue is mid day running past the room screaming(?)and the housekeeping carts. I don't even know if this is a real concern because the other times i've stayed with a toddler at DW we were at the Swan(which has inside hallways.) He sleeps with a sound machine on(which i'm bringing)anyway but i don't want to risk messing up his nap. :) Would you request an upper floor if you were me or still stay ground floor? alllllso: we're going on a pretty slow week. do you think we need to walk to bus stop 4 from cabanas 9b? i know i will figure it out pretty quick but we arrive in the evening and our first full day is rope drop at mk so i don't want to find out that morning that i should have walked to 4 because every bus that comes to 1 is full. tia!!

i know that besides the elevator issue the casitas also have some sort of step up that makes it more difficult for strollers/wheel chairs. there are ramps but i guess you have to find one. i have no personal experience with this but i have just read a lot and i know it was mentioned a few times. i'm sure it's not a big deal but it was important enough to more than one person to put in their review. The noise issue concern is that with resorts that have outside hallways people walking by your door could be loud and bothersome. I have had this issue at value resorts late at night but i was a teenager then so it was more of an observation than a problem. CSR is so spread out, though, that i doubt it is an issue. I think this is the direct number: 407-934-7639 or 407-939-1000

The walls really aren't that thin, and mid afternoon most people are either in the parks or at the pool. We had a ground floor room and I rarely heard a thing, day or night.

As for the bus stop, we only used #1. We were there around 0800 every morning and I only had to wait for a second bus once. And that was because the bus couldn't accommodate my wheelchair since it was already carrying 2 ECVs. The ambulatory guests were all able to get on. The next bus came in less than 10 minutes. They have a transportation coordinator at that stop every morning to monitor the buses and to call for extra buses when needed.

I started weeks ago looking for reservations at Coronado Springs April 12-19. On Disney's reservation site prices are listed for 30 of their 31 resorts usually with Coronado the exception. I also could go April 26-May 3, same thing. On the rare occasions that the prices listed at Coronado, you click on the price and nothing is available. I should add that I'm disabled, so I'm looking for a accessible room preferably with roll in shower. I stayed there last October and it was very nice. It was actually my second stay there, I stayed in 2011 as well. In any case, I'm wondering why it is so difficult finding availability, especially in accessible rooms?

You've got 2 things working against you.

1. CSR is a convention resort
2. You are less than a month away and a majority of people book 6-12 months out.

Thanks for your response, I genuinely appreciate it. I realize the point you are making. I did reserve a room at Riverside on March 3. But even as of this minute, I plug in the dates on Disney's resort website, and accessible rooms are available at every resort except for Coronado. I'm just wondering why all of the accessible rooms are gone at Coronado. I can't imagine that many disabled people at a convention, but possibly I am wrong.

The only reason to go past a room is if you're on that same floor and building, so bottom floor and top floor aren't any different, IMO. I haven't heard a lot of noise from the outside. I'd go ground floor.

9B is much closer to Stop 1 than Stop 4 (Cabanas stop), but I'd probably walk to 4. I walked from 8A to El Centro every morning to get breakfast, and it's a nice walk :)

I just booked a standard room at CSR for July 18-25 with the summer discount (25%) as part of a ticketless package (got my tickets using points through airmiles here in Canada). At first we had decided to go to CBR but they only had Pirate rooms available with the discount so I switched to CSR since it was my #2 choice. Which section and building would you request for a family of 4 with 2 young kids? We will take breaks during the afternoon and I reserved 2 pool days in our plans. We also have a car.

I'd go with the Cabanas. They're right between the main pool (The Dig Site) and the main building (El Centro).

Cabanas 8A and 8B are really close to the pool and Bus Stop 4. I'd try for one of those.

I have been reading these forums for many years, and really love all of the great information I have gathered over the years. I am a seasoned WDW visitor, having lived in Florida all my life, and I started visiting WDW when I was 6 months old. I have been every year, at least once a year since then (I am now 39!). We have stayed at WL and AKL when we could afford it (not often). We have stayed at two moderate resorts, CBR and POFQ. Mostly we stay at the value resorts and FW, since they're usually the most affordable. The times we have stayed at moderates,we have never really enjoyed it. We usually feel that the resorts are very spread out and the transportation slow. We always use WDW transportation even though we have a car, because we enjoy not having to navigate around the property. Also we enjoy park hopping and don't want to have to go back to the park to get our vehicle. After our stay at a moderate, we always say it's not worth the extra money and opt to stay at a value the next time (Pop Century is our preferred resort). We just returned from our first stay at CSR, and unfortunately we were disappointed by the moderate resort again. We chose this resort since we had wanted to spend time at the pool and their pool looked really great. It also had the best price compared to the other moderate resorts, and only about $40 more per night than Pop Century. It was myself, my DH, DD10 and DS8. After reading this thread, we requested ground floor cabanas, however we got ground floor ranchos (6B). It was VERY far from the front of the resort, and good walk to the main pool. The room was nice, but not much bigger than a value resort room. The TV was horrible, most of the channels (standard cable channels) would have no signal, so we found it hard to find something to watch in the evenings. The bus transportation was very slow. We used bus stop 3 and would see several buses before the one we needed. Sometimes there would be two of the same bus pass before the one we needed would come. Many times more than one bus would show up at a time, which would back up at the stop, and you would have to wait for one bus to load before the next one could pull up. The stops are small, so only one bus can load at a time. We visited the pool each afternoon, and the kids really enjoyed the slide. That was probably the highlight of their time there. The pool area was very crowded and we would have to circle 2-3 times before finding two chairs together. Even though there are signs saying you cannot save chairs with personal items or towels, people were doing it everywhere! We only visited the pepper market twice. Once for lunch, and it was OK. The second time, we walked all the way from our room to order a large pizza and got there to find out that large pizzas can onlybe ordered via room service. Had to walk all the way back to our room to place the order. It then took 40 minutes for the pizza to be delivered and cost us an additional $8 with delivery fee and gratuity. The pizza was horrible. We had ordered two, and we each at one slice and couldn't eat anymore. They use a whole wheat crust and it tasted like we were eating seeds. As others have said, this is a beautiful resort and very impressive upon check in, but unfortunately, it didn't suit us. We will be staying at WL when we return in June, but only because my inlaws are paying. Our next visit we will be going back to Pop Century or one of the All-Stars.

Hi we just booked CSR also 7/20 - 7/27 for our honeymoon. We are requesting the same Cabanas. But I bought my room through Orbitz save an extra 15% off with a code. I wonder why only CSR had moderate standard rooms available from the start?

So excited for CSR!!
