We arrive the 5th of Dec - 13 Dec. our 1st stay at CSR. Overall crowd levels look to be good for our week. My 2 kids will be sad teh water slide is closed. I am hoping that we won't have any bus issues.

We will be there during the same time, 12/10-12/13. I'm super excited about lower crowds.

FYI, Blizzard Beach is 3 mins from CSR. The internal shuttle runs over there and back to the resort.

Yes, but my understanding is that only the waterslide is closed. The rest of the pool area is business as usual.

Is it really the "Water Slide" or is it the "play ground" slide that is closed?

Dig Site Slide Nov. 10 - Dec. 15, 2014

Is anyone there right now that can walk over to dig site and figure out if/which slide is closed right now?

I'll be there in a few days, would like to temper the disappointment...

Here now and the resort is gorgeous. We left late and arrived around 4.
Check in was wonderful accommodating my requests, mouse keeping is very helpful, and I love the Ranchos section.

Hey All,

We followed this thread for months prior to our August 2014 trip to CSR, and it was very helpful! As a result, we actually switched over from POFQ and then upgraded to Business Class as well. Can't thank everyone enough for all their help with questions, recommendations, and reviews.

FWIW, here's what we thought of our experience at the resort:

Rooms: Great! We had a corner room in 9B and it was close to all amenities. The room was clean, comfy and had two big windows. Mousekeeping was fine. The decor was fine too (although I thought the curtains were a little dated and looked like something out of the 70's :lmao:)We had no trouble working the A/C and the beds were great. We liked the door separating the bathroom (though it never closed quite completely).

Resort Look/Feel: The resort is lovely, but the water features were not what I expected. They were covered in seaweed, mud, and muck and looked almost like swamps rather than "lakes". They didn't affect our enjoyment at all, I was just a little surprised at the look of them. At night the resort was truly beautiful with the lights and gorgeous sunsets!
One thing we really did notice was the conventions/groups. Even though it's a big resort, it is weird to see so many people walking around in suits and dresses with briefcases - especially in the dining area. I didn't think I'd mind, but it did make me feel a little underdressed at times, and at other times made me think of what was piling up for me at work!! (not something I wanted to think about!). Also, a HUGE volleyball tournament checked into the resort and we were surrounded by teen girls and boys everywhere we went. The went en masse to the dining, the bus, the pool - everywhere. We felt completely overwhelmed by the yelling, flirting, hormonal mass of humanity. It really did change the ambiance of the whole resort when they checked in.

Food Court; We really enjoyed the food court. The food was different and very tasty!! Some servers were awesome, some weren't, but overall it was quiet, clean, and very good.

Maya Grill: The service here was very, very good. The food was good, but a little spicy for my taste (but I'm a spice wimp!!). I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes Mexican - they treated us like kings!

Feature Pool: the pool area was lovely!! It is definitely one of the nicest pools on property. It is HUGE, so it doesn;t gete crowded easily, and there are tons of chairs. The pool bar is very close and you can refill your mugs here. Lifeguards were very friendly.

Transportation: This was okay. It was a pain because there are 4 stops within the resort, and you either waited forever to leave the resort, or you waited forever coming home. We felt liker we spent far more time on the bus here then we did at other resorts. The buses also were on a strange schedule (3 buses would come for one park before 1 would come for another) Despite how many people were often waiting for buses (i.e. several volleyball teams worth), they never had anyone at the stop helping with buses. We sometimes had to wait for several buses to go before we could get a eat.

Business Class Lounge: This was nice, but I probably wouldn't do it again. The times were not easy to make (7-10am and 5-10pm) and we often missed it. There were only 3 tables in the lounge (with a few easy chairs as well) so we rarely had a seat and ate breakfast standing up (we could take it back to the room, but we were trying to eat on our way out to the park). The lounge attendants were lovely and shared a lot of interesting Disney info with us. Food was the same every night. I think if you enjoy beer/wine more than we do, you would get more out of it than we did :)

So that was our experience - take it for what it's worth - hope it's helpful in some way!

Hope everyone has a great trip!

The slide snd playground were open yesterday - the slide is soooo much fun! :-)

I just wanted to add our two cents about our stay and impressions of CSR. We stayed Oct. 25-Nov. 1 and loved it! The grounds are beautiful and worth walking around at night or early morning when it is lit up. The pool was also beautiful. Very clean and big. We spent a couple afternoons there and the lifeguards provided activities nonstop. We stayed in Cabanas 8B. I had requested Casitas and was happy my request wasn't met. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot. We were close to transportation and the pool and it was a quick walk to El Centro.
The buses weren't a problem for us. It seemed we only waited ten minutes one day and the rest of the days we barely got to the bus stop before our bus came. Our only complaint about CSR was for MDE and the us home from Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, that CSR is the last resort dropped off. It took us one hour to get back from HDDR! We should have taken a taxi. :)
Pepper Market was okay. We only ate breakfast there. I liked the food court at POR better.
CSR is a close bus ride to HS, Epcot, and AK.
I would definitely stay at CSR again. It is at the top of my list!

Mousekeeping question - We are not good blanket sharers in my family. Can we easily get extra linens and blankets from mousekeeping? I'm guessing extra linens may be relatively easy, but I'm hoping for two extra blankets and pillows.

We had connecting rooms and knew on day 1 that we would be short towels, blankets, pillows...called down and they actually stocked the shelf above our sink with a never ending supply. So I wouldn't expect an issue there.

Shouldn't be a problem, just ask.

Thanks for your lovely trip report! I loved what you had to share, allowing us to take whatever we needed from your tidbit since we are all a bit different in what we enjoy and what we expect. :-)

I was wondering if any CSR fans have gone during the Christmas week and can shed more light into how the bus transportation has been for you. I anticipate crowds and more crowds, not just at the park but to/from the hotel as well because this was the Moderate property that Disney offered the Free Dining Plan for this fall.

Is there only a problem for buses to MK? Can I count on decent scheduling and availability for AK, EPCOT and HS? :confused3

Technically, we have a car with us, driving down from Canada. I know, crazy Canucks! Hey! Have winter tires, will drive anywhere. :car: LOL!! So, if we have our own car, do you CSR/Disney veterans recommend we simply drive our car to the parks, especially if we want to do rope drops at EPCOT or HS or MK?

I also heard about the ENORMOUS parking lots and that it takes just as much time manouvering from your parking spot to the main entrance.... any advice from all you in the know would be appreciated. :worship:
