Im coming down with my family on 9/9/07.
I booked the CR Tower Magic Kingdom view. I've seen other sites with pics of 2 completely different rooms.
Are all the Tower MKV newly renovated or are some of the rooms still in the older style ?
I want one of the newer rooms thanks!
All the rooms in the Tower have been 100% renovated, so you will be getting a new room.

Thanks for the info on tower -vs- garden rooms. Since I really like having a balcony in ANY hotel room, I definitely think it will be worth the extra money to have a balcony overlooking the Magic Kingdom! What could be better? So we're going to book a MK view room in the tower -- I am so excited!

The California Grill at fireworks time sounds great, too. Thanks for the tip. I will probably be :flower3: seeking much more advice in the coming months.

You're welcome and enjoy the Magic Kingdom view. :thumbsup2

Thank you. My Twin 4yr old daughters are going to love the fireworks from the room, and the view of the castle.

How long is the walk to the Magic Kingdom? OR should I just take the monorail. Does the monorail run on a timed schedule?

thanks again

I say it's faster to walk to the Magic Kingdom because you can be there in 10 minutes, where as with the Monorail it might take 20-25 minutes since it stops at the TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian before arriving at the Magic Kingdom. However I would say to ride it back to the Contemporary since it's the next stop and since you're staying there, you can ride it anytime you want. As for you're other question I don't think there is timed schedule for the Monorail because sometimes they need to stop on the tracks for like 1 - 2 minutes, if another Monorail in front of them is at the station ahead. So it needs to wait for it to move a safe distance away. However I would estimate they arrive at each of the Monorail stations every 5 minutes or so.

Check out my TR for some info on the views and the walk from CR to MK. The link is in my sig.

We're back from our week long stay. The construction on the former north wing site hasn't changed much in a week since that picture was taken. There was a lot of activity the day we arrived - 9/29 and then it seemed to just creep along after that.

The activity is now inside. I am sorry to report that on 9/5 the interior construction noise was intolerable. DH commented that he was glad we were checking out. I had to yell at CMs to ask questions in the gift shop. And I had to be "escorted" through the construction to get to the Sundries and Spirits store. I think I'm a pretty laid-back person who can tolerate a lot. But if I was staying anywhere lower than say the 8th floor, it would have been maddening.

Contemporary Grounds is on the 1st floor near the entrance. There's nothing noting the name, but they're serving the same stuff I saw on the allears menu.

Overall we had a great time, and I would recommend the Contemporary. We had some mousekeeping problems (like them painting the walls inside our room while we were at Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We returned to paint smell and a wet paint sign. Couldn't they wait til we checked out to do that? They obviously were waiting til we checked out to actually clean the bathroom or dust.) and the crows made a mess of our balcony (plus the people above us threw stuff out their balcony - not Disney's fault) But there is something really magical about the monorail running through your hotel, being able to walk to the MK and watch fireworks with your kids in their pajamas.

We have just returned from a 17 day trip to WDW. We stayed 2 days in the MK view room on the 5th floor. It was a beautiful room. I especially enjoyed the balcony to eat my lunch and watch the going ons. We did watch the fireworks both nights...one night being the Pirate/Princess party. It really is a different perspective from outside of MK. We were not able to listen to Wishes while they went off which was disappointing.

A BIG plus was the large TV in the room; it hung on the wall.

We barely caught the Electrical Water Parade both nights. They did not have a set schedule and we couldn't be at the beach AND in our room to watch the fireworks. The fireworks took the priority.

The food court was that of a deluxe resort...barely adequate. I love the food courts of the value and moderate resorts.

They did not have the MYOP mugs at the Contemporary only the large Contemporary ones.

Getting on and off the elevators was "everything one for themselves" routine. I got tired of that fast. Especially if you went to the 4th floor.

The boys had a TERRIFIC time playing a water balloon game and pool volleyball in the pool. Only the quiet pool is 5 ft deep...the main pool was just over 3 ft.

We did take advantage of the Ft. Wilderness boat to eat at the Trails End Restaurant. Great restaurant especially for breakfast but hard to get to otherwise.

I could not get the computer to work on the internet and didn't want to take the time to monkey around with it. My grandson was able to get onto Club Penguin.

Guess that's all. We had a great time. Glad we experienced the MK view room but we have other resorts on property that we absolutely love. We'll return there before the Contemporary.

We stayed 2 days in the MK view room on the 5th floor.
Are you sure the room you had was on the 5th floor? The reason I say that is because of the Monorail station there are no Magic Kingdom view rooms on the 5th floor, only Bay Lake view rooms. Also when the elevators have stopped on the 5th floor there was a wall that was covering the Magic Kingdom side.

Does anyone know if the internet access is a wireless access or should I bring a ethernet cord and hard wire in?

Im bring my Vaio Laptop to store all those extra pics I take for the week :wizard:

There is wireless access in some of the public areas, if I remember correctly. Especially the conference areas.

The in room access is "wired" but they have always had ethernet cords within the rooms.

I was going to say all the rooms have the computers with the free internet access, however there is no area on them to load up pictures.

I am going to be staying on Dec 4 for 12 nights, do you think most of the current work on the gift shop etc will be finished by then, from what I can see of the pics posted the bottom end of the concourse looks messy!

Also does anyone know how much of the outer rim the new tempo grab n go is taking up, I love sitting at that bar having a few drinks!

What locations in the hotel have the renovated rooms. I assume they will all be renovated at some point. Does anybody know when?

I love the new rooms, but do not particularly want to stay in the older "loud" decor.

100% of the rooms at the CR have been renovated. They are all the new decor in the Tower and the South Garden Wing. Have fun!

My family will be at WDW Christmas 2007. I was told that the CR has a Christmas Day mass. Can anyone please give me more details?

A Cast Member at the Sundries told me that thew new store on the 4th floor should be completed by the 1st week of December, assuming nothing goes wrong.

As for you're other question I think that can only be answered once the temporary grab & go location opens, so if someone can post a picture of it then we can see how much room it takes up.

can anyone tell me what the CR was running for price during the value season this past August? Also, how long does it take to get to Epcot?

We went for 12 days this past August and had a great time. Part of the family went to Epcot every day, so I was looking for a quick trip.
