DISNEY'S CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information Thread!

I know this is going to be a repeat question, but this thread is just TOO big to read all of!

Are the garden view buildings attached to the main building? It appears as though they're not on the map.

And if I book (Garden View is all that's available!) I'm assuming I'd want to request the North building for any chance of seeing MK from my room... or is that just a pipe dream? Can you see the MK from the wings at all?!

Right now I have ressies for a Savannah room at AKL but I REALLY REALLY want a room on the 7 Sea's Lagoon... Contemporary is my first choice!

Thanks guys! You're always so helpful!

First, the Contemporary isn't really on the 7 Seas Lagoon. The MK view side of the tower faces it and if you are high enough up its easy to ignore the parking lot between the Contemporary and the Lagoon. The other side of the tower and the South Wing face Bay Lake, which is beautiful, but won't give you a view of the Magic Kingdom. If you can't get in the tower and you want a 7 Seas Lagoon room, I would suggest looking into the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian.

The South Garden Wing (the only one left after they demolished the North Wing) is not attached to the main building. There might be a covered walkway, but I don't think so.

Thanks!

The Poly is booked and the GF is just soooooo expensive! $150 MORE per night! I don't think I can talk DH into that!

I'll see what he thinks about the South Wing. We can still go to Cal. grill or the observation deck to see MK... a lot better then we'd see it from AKL, that's for sure! :lmao:

It looks (from your signature info) that you're going to WDW at the end of June. We are holding our wedding there in July and have garden rooms blocked for our wedding, however, we had quite a few guests that wanted to book there after our block was full and they are TOTALLY sold out (and have been since November.) I know our wedding is about 2 weeks after you go, but I wanted to let you know it was a strong likelihood before you got your hopes up :)

There is a covered walkway between the wings and the tower at the contemporary...then once you get into the end of the building you can even get to the outer parts without getting wet if its raining...I miss the north wing tho...have fun! wish we were going...this month its Key Largo for us.

We are leaving next weekend, and my friend somehow got us one night in an MK view tower room. So excited--I haven't been there since the late 1980s!! A few quick questions, though:

1) How late are the shops and restaurants on the concourse open?
2) Can you see/hear the electrical water pageant from MK view rooms?
3) Can you hear the Wishes music from your balcony, or is there a way to "tune it in" on your room TV?

Thanks for your help!!! :)

The shops are open until 11:00pm, the arcade 11:30pm, the Food and Fun Center 2:00am. The Outer Rim Lounge closes at midnight, the Contemporary Grounds (coffee shop) at 9:00pm, Chef Mickey's at 9:30pm, California Grill at 10:00pm (CG lounge 11:30pm), and Concourse Steakhouse at 10:00pm. This info came from last month's "Directory of Services" that we got during our stay.

We could see the Electrical Water Pageant quite well from our balcony facing MK, as it passed from Seven Seas Lagoon over to Bay Lake.

We stayed on the 14th floor and could hear the music from Wishes, but not very loud. I think it is piped in at the concierge lounges on the 12th and 14th floors.

Channel 20 on the TV plays the music for Wishes!

thanks for the info!!! I knew some DISers would know the answer!

Last August channel 20 was playing the Wishes music, however they were not playing it last December. So I am not sure if they even play it today.

We will be at the Contemporary 3 nights starting next Wednesday, the 13th!! :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2: We requested ground floor garden view near the pool. Can't wait!!

I don't know how I managed it but I just called and got a MK view room!! I am so excited I could spit! eeewww... well, you understand. :lmao: I can't WAIT! And since this room applied for a AAA discount, where the AKL one didn't, it's only going to cost us $220 more... for this PRIME location! Again... spitting! DH doesn't get my freakish excitment but I swear to you, when I look out our balcony and see that castle, I WILL cry. I just know it! I just love the MK! :cloud9:

Anyone have pics from a MK view room? I'd love to see what I'm in for!

CONGRATS!!! I thought you were looking for a garden room, that's why I posted that, but I didn't know you wanted a tower room. Yeah for you  We get to stay in the concierge tower room for one free night as a wedding gift from Disney. I'm so excited too!! You'll have to post all about it when you get back so I can read it before I leave :goodvibes

You were right. I'd initally called about the GV room I saw on AAA's web site, but it was posted in error because when I called they were sold out. But they said, "we have..... " and the rest is history.

Hi all

Help needed please!

I have booked to stay at the CR from 12/27/2007 to 01/03/2008. We have booked a Tower room with MK view. We are a family of 4, me DH DS14 and DD11.

So now to the questions??????

Is this a good room to have booked, its cost a lot of money!!!
Whats all the construction? Uk travel agent has not mentioned this at all!(we are at AKL for our first week and I believe there is construction there as well!!)

Julie

Hi Julie -- In my opinion, the Tower Magic Kingdom room view is great, and well worth the $$ :cool1: think you will be very happy. The proposed construction schedule has been listed in this thread. As you will be visiting at years end, all the hotels and parks will be decorated for the holiday season and this will add to the "magic" of your visit.

Yes, there will be construction at the Animal Kingdom Lodge due to the addition of the Disney Vacation Club Villas. If all stays the same, don't worry as we had family in town last month and found the noise to be minimal. You knew something was going on, but not to the degree it would interfer with your resort experience.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation and a safe trip to and from Disney.

I saw in ALLEARS.NET that CR's food court will be moved to the Outer Rim until 8/14. What happens then? We are scheduled 8/31-9/5. Will there be no food court? Not a biggie if there is not , but it does help to have one:hourglass

Hi MissMickee - Glad you got your Magic Kingdom View room :cool1: . Apparently, you had been seeking this booking and were unable to get it. I notice a lot of conversation on the Disboards regarding availability of rooms, but getting what you want whether it be room accommodations or dining reservations, depends on when you call, how often you call, and most importantly, your flexibility. I know being able to get the AAA discount for a "prime" view, enhanced your enthusiasm :cheer2: .. Views of the castle and fireworks are the best from a tower room. Don't know if you are familiar with the California Grill, it's a restaurant in the Contempory, very top floor. In my opinion, this is the ultimate view for the castle and fireworks, as the lights are lowered, and sitting there looking out of the large windows, would make you cry. Understand your DH doesn't get the excitement of Disney, it's just a man thing, but we girls understand all too well, and thanks to this forum, can share our excitement with others of the same opinion. -- Maybe if Disney had a football team the guys could share in the excitement??? .

Hope you have a wonderful vacation!!!
