also,
can anyone tell me about the Outer Rim Bar? does it have a tv to watch sports? (Monday nite Football)

It had a small TV when we were there in December. Sat there waiting for our CM table.

When and how to find the best rates for the Contemporary, or Boardwalk, in October?
What kind of rates can I expect at that time?

Thanks!

Interested in best rates for the Value season for the CR, myself. Would like to do a couple nights in the first week of Aug in a Tower MK View room. I think there's a AAA 15% discount but does that work for the Tower rooms?

Yes, the AAA rate works on all categories. There are only a finite number of AAA rooms available for each room type. For example, once all Tower MK view AAA room rates are you can't book it, but Tower Bay Lake View might be available, etc. It is 15% off the Rack Rate in Value Season and 10% off in Regular Season. HTH!

too cute!!! what kind of life vests? a full jacket? I may not bring ours then

The life jackets are the nice yellow padded jackets that have an adjustable strap that goes between their legs and has 2 or 3 adjustable clips in the front for closure. They are the nice ones. They also have pool noodles for the kids to play with too :) I would skip bringing the jackets and just use theirs and instead bring some water/sand toys for playing in the beach area.

What's the best way to book those rooms? Via travel agent or going thru CRO?

If you want the dining plan and the AAA rate, you have to book with a AAA agent only. If you just want the room at the AAA rate and DO NOT want the dining plan, you can book directly via CRO.

PM me if you need a good AAA agent. You do not have to use the one in your area. There are a couple of very good Disney certified AAA agents on the DIS boards.

Ok, I'll just go thru CRO, then, if another option I'm looking at doesn't pan out.

I don't intend on using the Dining Plan.

My plans have changed a lot from the first idea which was just 2-3 days at a Value resort (and the rest of the time at a timeshare my dad has in Ormond Beach). But, since his weeks got moved and this is my DD11's first trip to Disney ever, I want it to be as memorable as possible. :)

And the price, as Alicnwondrln noted, is quite a bit below rack rate!

If I go thru CRO, what are the payment requirements (deposit, up-front, etc.)?

If you get room only, you have to pay one night in advance. The balance is due at check in.

Many thanks!

I'll be sure to post copious amounts of pics of the place and a detailed review when we get back. ;)

I LOVE this board!

We are hoping to get a first floor garden wing room with a patio. How bad are the bugs at night? I already have bug spray packed, but I am thinking about bringing a citronella candle.

Yes, they have small coffee makers tucked inside the cabinet area and a drawer underneath that shelf holds the coffee bags, tea bags, creamer, etc. and then of course they also have ceramic coffee cups to go with. We never actually used ours though and opted instead to go to the Contemporary Grounds for a GOOD cup of coffee.(sorry, I am a coffee snob ;) ) I think I did use a coffee cup one night for my red wine though.....

Thanks for the information. We will be bringing starbucks coffee from home for those mornings we need a jolt before leaving the room. :thumbsup2

Someone mentioned that the kiddos may want sand toys to play with in the 'beach' area. I had already thought about toys for the pool, but didn't realize there was a sandy area. Any insight on this? Thanks!

My 180 window opened the over the weekend. I have booked the 14th fl. I e-mailed all my adr's to them about a month ago. I called disney dining yesterday to add an adr. They looked at the rest of my adr's and found that IPO booked them for a party of 3 instead of a party of 4 including CRT. They also pushed up the dinner reservations by one night. I e-mailed IPO about the problem last night and never heard back today. Should I book everything on my own and just let them worry about fixing CRT or wait for them to fix it? Has this happened to anybody else?

Thanks in advance!

Still need ideas about room requests but so far I am going to request North Wing ground floor, yes?? Sounds good? :confused3 Let me know if anyone hears more info on the fate of the North Wing

Well, if I were you, I'm going to request South Garden Wing ground floor rather than North Garden Wing ground floor. What I know so far is South Garden Wing is almost finished with its refurbishment while North Garden Wing hasn't been renovated AT ALL!!! And I believe the renovated rooms are more sophisticated and look modern (beside, it is "Contemporary" Resort). But, yes, South Garden Wing is a little bit far from the bus stop I think. If you want to go swimming, South Garden Wing is all about. And if I wasn't wrong, smoking rooms are located on the 2nd floor of South Garden Wing. Okay, just feel happy when you stay at Contemporary!!! :yay:

I was hoping to get some advice from you CR lovers. We have never stayed at the CR. My kids are dying to stay there, but I am not sure if it intrests me. We have a reservation at the Polynesian and with all of that rehab I'm thinking about switching to the GF. Then I started thinking that maybe we should try the CR instead? I have ADRs scheduled for all three restaurants at the CR so we will be over there on three different occasions anways.

Here are my concerns. I have a slight fear of heights, do the tower rooms feel high? I'd like to sit on the balcony, but I don't want to have an anxiety attack  I can handle the 5th floor at the AKL.
I'm not crazy about it being a convention hotel. That was my biggest complaint about the GF. Business suites and vacation are not a good mix IMO.
Doesn't it seem like there is too much action while staying in the Tower rooms? One thing I love about the Polynesian is it has a bit of a relaxing feel about it. I was thinking I might like a Bay Lake view over a MK view. It seems like you see a lot of the parking lot with a MK view?
How is the Food and Fun Center? What about drinks at the pool? Are there any activities for the kids to do at the pool?
Any comments would be appreciated. :goodvibes
TIA

Mirlow: You should be aware that the CR is undergoing rehab as well. The rooms in the south wing and tower are nearly done, but the north wing hasn't been started yet. Also, the Concourse (4th floor level) is supposed to be undergoing a major rehab in the next few months (to expand Chef Mickey's, move the Concourse and Outer Rim to the 1st floor, and to move the Food 'n' Fun Center to the 4th floor). You don't mention when your trip is planned, but you might want to keep those changes in mind before changing your res from the Poly. BTW, we stayed at the Poly last fall while the renovations were going on, and we never noticed a thing. Generally, though, I don't think the CR seems to be any more busy than the Poly.
