Hi Jenna,

You can get slushees in your resort mug (or in a cup if you don't buy a mug). Unlimited slushees - my dd was in heaven! The CR has pin trading on Friday nights and there is a special section for kids. The arcade is fantastic. You can rent boats and such from the pier in the back. The beach is really nice too. The CR is tops - you'll love it!

Thanks so much for that info! My DD will be excited about the Pin Trading, I will have to check that out!

Thanks for all the great info. We will be staying there for the first time Sept 23-30 in a Tower MK view room. I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary Resort, and my kids are so excited to stay in the "Chef Mickey Hotel"!

I am thinking of changing our reservations to the CR for our stay in September.

If I request a king bed, south wing, then I will definitely get a renovated room, correct?

I know it sounds stupid, but the only way I want to stay at the CR is if I get a renovated room. I would rather walk a mile from the South Wing than stay in the North, and we really don't want to shell out the extra $$$ for a tower room. We're talking a price jump from $1500 at WL to $2500 at CR for the tower rooms, whereas the standard rooms at CR will only run us $1800 for the same week.

If you want to spend more for a renovated room in the South Garden Wing you have that right, however I just want to give you some advice. Chances are they might be working on them when you go, so there could be a chance you don't get a newely renovated room. I know you could request it, but it does not mean WDW can accomodate it & they have not started working in that area yet & we don't know when that will begin. Basically what I am saying is if you really want a renovated room maybe you should consider the Tower because by then all those rooms should be finished. However like I said before it's your money, so do what you think is best for you & your family.

I was under the impression that the South Wing was completely done, and the Tower only lacked a couple of floors. There have been numerous posts by people who stayed at CR this past month about this, both on this thread and on the CR refurb thread. I believe they said work was being done a couple of floors in the Tower while they were there, but only a couple were "untouched." You may want to check your info.

Can anyone else confirm the status of the refurbishment schedule?

I'm not sure where the refurb is in the tower, but the South Wing is finished. They started the south wing rehab over a year ago, and I haven't read about anyone staying in a South Wing non-rehabbed room in quite a while. The new rooms look awesome. The CR is great and the South Wing isn't that far from the tower or pool. Request a ground floor room so you can have a patio.

I can confirm that the south wing was almost done when we were there may 1 - May 6. They were working on the last portion to be refurbished. They were also working on MK view tower levels 6 and 12 at that time. I am reasonably sure it will be completed before your stay in September (barring some unforeseen incident) however, you cannot be guaranteed that you will get a south wing room. At this point, they are still putting guests in the north wing which is not refurbished. The BIG question is...IF they are going to demolish the north wing for a new DVC and if so, when will they close the north wing? By Sept?.....it is plausible but I wouldn't count on it.

I would suggest calling the CRO and having them add your room preference for a south wing king room, to celebrate your anniversary.....unless you have already done so. Although it is not a guarantee, the room assigners will take into account all reservations with requests before assigning rooms with no requests. So if the other folks who booked king rooms didn't add a preference, you have a better chance of getting it. AND...if you get to check-in and you are assigned a room you are not pleased with, tell them so and request a different room at that time...very sweetly, with googly eyes, stressing the needed romance for the trip and maybe you will get a room upgrade to tower for free :teeth: Disney does aim to please :thumbsup2

Hahaha! It's funny, but we usually get upgraded anyway, without the googly eyes. I believe it's because we go at one of the slowest times of the year...we didn't even take that into consideration when we got married in September, but it has certainly been a blessing when we go to book vacations...I had only been to WDW for Spring Break and in July/August prior to our Honeymoon, and I was pleasantly surprised at the low attendance.

I think I'm going to call CRO right now and make that request...and yeah, I realize it's a request. But DH would be happy if they gave him a cot in the lobby, as long as he gets to stay at the Contemporary!

Can anyone who's stayed in a renovated CR room comment on the comfort of the new beds? I am assuming the mattresses are new..but maybe not.....?

Thanks,

Pam

I don't know if they were new or not, but they were comfy to me! :thumbsup2 (I don't have any special requirement for mattresses, though.)

I'm not sure if I was just DEAD tired from running around the parks (or after my two DS's) but I was asleep almost before my head hit the pillow those mattresses were so comfortable!!! :)

I completely understand how he feels on that one!!!

Hi, just a quickie question (I went back a few pages and couldn't find the answer :guilty: )

Are all the CR tower MK view rooms redone yet??

I want a guaranteed redone room, but really also want that guaranteed MK view. ;) (This is for just one night, July 3 - will they be done by then??)

THANKS!! CR used to be our favorite resort until all the convention changes. We figured we would give it another try for a night and see how it feels. :)

Lives4Disney,

They are working on floor 6 and 12 now and are almost done. The 14th floor is last, so you have a very good chance of having a new room. Hope your gang is doing well! Hugs to you, girl.

Denise - THANKS for the info. I actually requested a refurbished room with the CRO CM, and she said they weren't recently redone!!!! She had no clue, unfortunately.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all goes well with your little guy. Take care!!! :grouphug: Hope he is doing better, but I read your other posts and I know there is more to come. Hope all goes well. :grouphug:

When we were there, they were still putting some folks in the North wing b/c I saw them walking to/from their building a few times. Also, they were not finished with the South wing when we left on May 6 but I believe it is the very last section left to be refurbished that they were busy working on. It may in fact be completed by now but.... :confused3 As for which is smoking/non-smoking...I don't know. We just requested (and received) non-smoking due to our daughter's asthma/allergies.

They do allow blow-up toys in the pool at CR. I got the biggest laugh when we were there.....this adorable little girl was so excited to get in the pool and was waiting ever so patiently with her eyes so big and her body just wiggly with excitement as her daddy tried for almost 15 minutes to blow up an animal blow-up float ring. Poor guy just kept blowing and blowing and blowing but to no avail. I am suprised he didn't pass out. The toy had a hole in it and would not keep in the air. The dad looked so dejected but the sweet little girl took it in stride and was happy just to be in the pool. ;)

Also good to note....The first day you get to the CR, you can "check out" life vests for the kids (I think my DH had to show our room key?) and keep it for the duration of your stay so you don't have to keep going back and forth.

Hafe a great trip :Pinkbounc

too cute!!! what kind of life vests? a full jacket? I may not bring ours then
