Now, looking at CR prices, I see two separate prices for Bay and MK.

Can someone help explain this?
Thanks!

Yes, you can now book a MK Tower Room so you know exactly what view you are getting. It is a little more money per night. If you book a Tower Room, then you will get a Bay Lake view.

Is it true that the Bay view and MK views (tower) don't cost the same anymoer, that you pay extra for a guaranteed MK tower room? I remember when we were there 2 years ago, we booked tower and was told we could end up with either Bay or MK, and that we should request it on the ressie and hope for the best.

Now, looking at CR prices, I see two separate prices for Bay and MK.

Yes, it's a new pricing structure so that people who really want the MK view can pay extra to have it guaranteed.

We just returned on Tues. nite from 6 nites at the Cont. We had made a water view reserv. with a request for a newly renovated room. When we checked in we were given a South Wing room that was the furthest away from the tower, but I knew that end room was larger than a regular room so I was happy.

The room was #6224. Little did I know that the end of building looks like there are 2 rooms, but since the renovations the rooms have been merged into one. (The other room was #6223 but the other room number plaque had been removed) It was a huge suite!
The rooms views were awesome the bedroom had two sliding door style windows, the dining room had one and the living area had two. We could see the Electric Water Pageant very well.

I was wondering what the pricing will be for this suite. It is larger than the old suites that were there so it will obviously be more expensive. But it is so far from the tower I can't see people paying as much or more for that suite than a tower suite/room. That is just me though!

If you have any questions please let me know. It was great! The upgrade of a lifetime! Now I am worried that I will never get a good room again ( we have always had good rooms/locations) :sunny:

Could this be what they call the "junior suite"???
Can anyone else confirme what type room this is?
I almost looks like what the CRO described..... marble entryway, sitting area, king size bed, pull out sofa, double sliding glass doors....she also said it was on the ground floor and had a patio.
If this is it..... WOW.... I am really excited.

Thanks for any more info you can give me.

A trivial point on this -- I was led to believe a while back that they put fewer MK rooms in the system than they really have. In other words, the way they block the rooms, they don't do it 50/50 (or whichever way it works out since the 5th floor doesn't have rooms on both sides). So, long story short, if you book a standard non-MK room in the tower, you could nevertheless end up getting an MK room, just not vice versa. It's considered an upgrade, though. So, two points -- if you don't think the extra $30 to $50 or whatever it is for MK view is worth it, and would be content with the bay view, you can still book a standard tower room and try to put in a request for MK (or just hope). The chances are small, but it could happen. Also, if you affirmatively want bay view, make sure to say it when you book; don't assume that just because you are not reserving the MK side you will end up on the lake side. Sorry, long winded post -- make sense?

We just booked a standard garden view at the Contemporary. We are a family of 5. I know that my two boys can share a bed and my daughter will sleep on the day bed...how crowded will it be? I'm hoping its less crowded than a value (even though I love the values!). Thanks to free dining we are able to book a deluxe and staying near the MK is a bonus!!

We have stayed at the CR our last two trips, in 2004 with two adults/two children, and in 2005 added a third child to the mix. We found the rooms to be spacious (North Garden Wing), even considering the wheelchair user in our family... the day bed is a good size, and we had plenty of room. Have a great trip...

We are a family of 5 and have stayed at the Contemp. twice. We feel like we have plenty of room!!! We leave our double stroller open in the room, and it feels like it takes up almost no space. The rooms are huge. Have fun!

That's great!!

I've been reading this post and noticed that Chef Mickey and the Concourse Steakhouse are on the 4th floor. Does that mean the guest rooms start on the 5th floor? I'd hate to spend the money on a tower room and then find out that I'm on the 1st or 2nd with no view anyway.

Keep the picture of the value room in your head when you arrive at the hotel. Then open the door and pixiedust: You will think you just walked into heaven!!

Have a great time!!

There are no hotel rooms on floors 1-4. The 4th floor (the Concourse, which has the restaurants and shops) is actually about 2 stories high, then the floors with the hotel rooms start. If you book the tower, you'll have a great view of either the MK or Bay Lake. Enjoy!

does anyone know if the shower curtain style is new in the renovated rooms? Hoping it is no longer "clear"....

It has been a few years since we have stayed at the CR. We are thinking of returning after several years at the Polynesian. We have never cared for the tower and much prefer the wings. I know we're in the minority with that but we just think it is more secluded and relaxing. Anyway, I know they have changed the room categories around in the tower and I am wondering if they have done the same thing in the wings. We have always booked a garden view wing room and requested to be at the end overlooking the lake. I see on Disney's web site that there is a standard view, garden view, and a garden wing. I am assuming that the standard view is the side facing the parking lots and the garden view is what we have always booked - any rooms facing the gardens, pool, or lake. But what is the garden wing? Can someone please clarify this and correct me if I'm wrong on my first two assumptions? Thank you so much for your help.

I am having the same questions?? They seem to have so many categories!!!
Is the garden wing the same as a garden deluxe room?

Rooms start on the 5th floor on the bay side and on the 6th floor on the MK side. There is no 13th floor. (Well, there is, but there are no guest rooms on it.)

So, on the MK side, there are six floors of regular guest rooms -- 6 through 11, and on the Bay side there are seven floors -- 5 through 11. Then 12 and 14 are concierge.

Sorry for the late response, but I had to throw this in. All rooms (save concierge and suites) are identical in features and size. The only difference in room rates is the view and location of your room.

Standard room types include:

  • Garden Wing Standard Room: Deluxe room in one of the wings. Faces parking lot or gardens.
  • Garden Wing Garden View: Deluxe room in one of the wings, overlooks the CR's gardens, Bay Lake and/or Pool.
  • Tower Bay Lake View: Deluxe room in A-frame tower. View of Bay Lake.
  • Tower Magic Kingdom View: Deluxe room in A-frame tower. Guaranteed view of the Magic Kingdom.

Hope that answers your question. Also, for those who haven't seen a photo of the new rooms yet, I'll drop in a small montage below:

Okay, trying to decide btw AKL and CR for our next WDW stay in Feb 07. Can anyone tell me, are the Garden Wing rooms renovated yet? If "no", when is the renovation going to be complete?

I love the location of the CR, but don't know if I want to pay Tower prices (since I will be going again 4 months later and staying in a Deluxe room at WL). Thanks for any input.

The south wing is either complete or will be by the time you want to go. No one seems to know what is happening with the north wing. Rumors are that it will be torn down and replaced with a new vacation club building. If that is not true, then one would think they would start to renovate those rooms soon.

Is there any way I can order a cake for my son's birthday to have delivered to our room at the Contemp? Our stay is not until September...I just need a clue as to what is available and who to call to get it. Do they have any special desserts only available by ordering in advance like the Cinderella Slipper Dessert at the GF? I want to make this trip as special as possible for our family...it's been a tough year healthwise and I want to fully celebrate and treat the kids come this vacation!
