I wonder if there is a convention that week? Anybody know? I would suggest calling the CRO and ask them if that is what is going on. Otherwise, just keep calling. Maybe they will have some cancellations.

Good Luck :goodvibes

Please help. I have been trying for weeks and cannot get a garden wing room 12/6 - 12/9. No availability on line, nor when I call Disney directly. I found availability listed on BookIt. com....but they called today to tell me that room isn't available. I can upgrade to a tower for $1000 more....

Why is it so hard to find a room 10 months in advance for what is supposed to be a slow period for visitors?

Sorry, no suggestions.
I'm in the same boat and there have been no available rooms since 480 days out! I have a King wing room but really only needed the std for Dec 1-8. There is a convention or 2. Someone said it was FL Democ Conv. I am going to just keep tryin', just keep tryin', just keep tryin'

Actually, I was one of the people suggesting that it could be the Florida Democrats conference, but they have finally posted their dates on their web site, and it is December 9-11, 2006. So I'm not sure why this would be creating a problem on dates checking out on the 8th or 9th.

It does appear there is pretty good availability in the garden rooms from December 1 through December 6, so maybe they are blocking rooms for the conference for a whole week. It looks to have been pretty well attended last year, and this year's speaker is Barak Obama, so I suspect attendance will be high. Might not be a bad idea to contact the florida democrats to see about reserving a room through them. You might even get a discount.

I need pixie dust!
A lot of people book their vacations a year in advance. Our December-January trip is always booked the 1st week of Jan to ensure we get the resort and room we want.

For everybody that is trying, I called the CR Friday night and spoke with a very sweet lady. She told she could not see on her computer that far in advance to tell me what was going on that month. She said that Orlando has become a very popular site for conventions and there is really no time that they are not hosting someone.

She did suggest that I always call Disney when searching for a cancellation rather than look on line.

She also said that folks will book their rooms far in advance and then when it gets closer to that 45 day window where if you cancel within 45 days you are penalized, the rooms start to open up.

I have pretty much given up on the Contemporary for this stay but I will keep all of this info in mind when we are planning our next visit.

Good luck to every one else that is going to keep holding on for the Contemporary!

I was just hoping someone had any more info on the wing rooms that have been renovated. We are going next month and wonder if the wing rooms will be mostly complete.

I was there at the end of January and stayed in a renovated room in the south wing. Only half of the south wing is complete and since it took close to six months to renovate that half the other half will not be done until this summer. Now others have reported that the north wing will not be renovated and will be replaced with a DVC building but I talked to one of the workers in the south wing and he said that he would be working in the north wing next and that he was going to be working on the renovation into next year.

I can't find the thread new rooms at the contemporary are open. Can anyone post a link for me. Thanks!

We just booked Atrium Club Level for our trip in December. A few questions, please.

  • Any recent reviews?
  • Any information on if it will be back on the 12th floor by then?
  • How good are my chances of getting a MK view in the Atrium Club? Would you take a chance on not getting a MK view or book a regular Tower Magic Kingdom View room?
My triplets are so excited about staying at the "Chef Mickey" hotel (me too). I've always wanted to stay at the CR and watch the monorail go through. Thanks for any other advice or tips.

I haven't stayed at CR since I was a kid, but we are considering it for our traditional family Disney Christmas trip. We love concierge service but they don't guarantee a MK view, and with the new offering for said view, I think it's the right choice for us. I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like. Heh, the last time I was there, I could just barely see over the edge into the atrium within the tower.

Normally we're Poly-people, but we've been there so many times now for Christmas we want to try something a little different. Summer trips we stick to the Epcot resorts (YC or BC for the pool) and Winter trips the Monorail resorts (ok, just the Polynesian.)

I'm interested in hearing what the kids think of it. At any rate, thanks for the thread. I'll be subscribing and review it over the next few months.

You might want to note that the monorail station in CR isn't totally quiet. It would help if you got rooms far from the loading dock IF the rooms are available. But that might just be me being a bit paranoid since I'm not a heavy sleeper!

Without having to go through all 64 pages again....
Can someone tell me what a Junior Suite is like?
I was just able to book a Jr. Suite at less than the AAA rate for a Garden Room in June. $289 / night incl tax.
Anyone with pictures of a Jr Suite?

Thanks.... but already checked that site and it shows for standard (2 queen or king + day) and deluxe suites.

What the CRO described..... little bigger than standard room, with sitting area, table and chairs, and patio, and closer to the pool area and tower.

I just haven't actually seen pictures or heard what it is like.

We just returned on Tues. nite from 6 nites at the Cont. We had made a water view reserv. with a request for a newly renovated room. When we checked in we were given a South Wing room that was the furthest away from the tower, but I knew that end room was larger than a regular room so I was happy.

The room was #6224. Little did I know that the end of building looks like there are 2 rooms, but since the renovations the rooms have been merged into one. (The other room was #6223 but the other room number plaque had been removed) It was a huge suite! Here are some pics:

From the main entry door:

Main bedroom area:

TV/pull out sofa taken from between the sliding door/window and the bedroom:

The dining/living area with other pull out sofa:

View down hall toward extra bath/fridge/other entrance door:

It was an awesome upgrade. I was concerned that it would be too far, but it wasn't bad. There was a stairwell right in between the two entry doors to the room and it led down to an exit door. We used that route often.

The rooms views were awesome the bedroom had two sliding door style windows, the dining room had one and the living area had two. We could see the Electric Water Pageant very well.

I was wondering what the pricing will be for this suite. It is larger than the old suites that were there so it will obviously be more expensive. But it is so far from the tower I can't see people paying as much or more for that suite than a tower suite/room. That is just me though!

If you have any questions please let me know. It was great! The upgrade of a lifetime! Now I am worried that I will never get a good room again ( we have always had good rooms/locations) :sunny:

Beautiful hotel, Love the new rooms. Hope the customer service is better for all of you on your trips than it was on my a week ago. :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Glad you had a wonderful trip! Welcome back..................

Is it true that the Bay view and MK views (tower) don't cost the same anymoer, that you pay extra for a guaranteed MK tower room? I remember when we were there 2 years ago, we booked tower and was told we could end up with either Bay or MK, and that we should request it on the ressie and hope for the best.

Now, looking at CR prices, I see two separate prices for Bay and MK.

Can someone help explain this?
Thanks!
