I'm in the same boat as triplefigs. My kids/DH have me locked in to our ressie. I would have booked the GF if it were up to me. We're going Thanksgiving and the Poly and GF are booked. We'll have a great trip regardless of the construction. I plan on using room service to supplement. I just hope most of the 4th floor store is done by the time we arrive.

With 5, we live out of our suitcases anyway! I rarely unpack the kids' suitcases. I think Denise once had a brilliant idea. She unpacked and had bell services store her suitcases!

As far as the ducks go, I've seen them at every single resort pool. This problem isn't just unique to the CR.

My kids will be thrilled with the CR, the adults will just have to deal with it.

Lori
Hi, Lori. Yes, I am totally locked into the CR, good or bad! ;) I called today just to check on the Poly and GF... even though I know I'm not changing! :confused3 I forgot about storing the suitcases on that trip. That was brilliant, huh? :rotfl: I will have to do that again. Oh, and we packed with all our clothes in Ziploc bags for the CR last time. We unpacked some stuff, but that way the other items didn't get messy/dirty/wrinkled and was easier to find. We called Mousekeeping for a TON of hangers for costumes, etc as there was plenty of hanging space. I am excited and will just order from Room Service to supplement the dining plan. I think breakfast delivered to the room every morning sounds like a great plan. :thumbsup2

Denise-what are your dates? I'll be at WDW for Joe's 7th birthday 1/6 to 1/11 (at Pop).

Have you seen the nasty reports about Garden Grocer lately? I used them in August and had great service from them as did my friend who used them 5 days later.
We're going Feb 2-9, so we'll miss each other. :sad1: I hope Joe has a magical birthday. :wizard: Hard to believe all our kids are getting so big.

I haven't read the bad Garden Grocer reports. Thanks for the heads up! Isn't there another grocery delivery service? The name is escaping me.

netgrocer? wegoshop? and maybe goodings? Haven't tried any of them. The negative reports were from folks who tried to change their orders after they had placed them. I had really great service from them. I ordered water, sun screen, yogart, fruit, cereal bars, chips, gaitor aid.

I also ordered individual bowls of cereal, snacks and personal care items from minimus.biz. If you order over $20 shipping is free so I just had it sent directly to the resort. They are in CA so I order 2 weeks before my arrival. I've used them twice and had good service from them too.

SO...does that mean that Joe's birthday is less than 4 months away?:scared1: YIKES...so much to do before then-busy time at work, trip in November with Lizzy, Christmas....

Room service sounds heavenly to me!

And by the way- you are brilliant!

Lori
Now my head won't fit through the door of the CR! ;) And I plan on having a standing order for breakfast every morning. That way we don't have to worry about the grab n go, and have a relaxed breakfast before heading out. It'll be a lot cheaper than Concierge!

Thanks for all the good tips! I'll have to check out mimimus.

Boy ya'll have been busy today. I leave for 12 hours and there is two pages to catch up on. I am excited about room service also. It will just be my husband and I this trip and I am sure there will be many late night snacks :goodvibes .

I just returned a little over a week ago and used Garden Grocer with absolutely NO problems at all:)

I also packed with Ziplocs and everything was still wrinkled. UGH! Some of my boys' stuff wasn't but everything for my DH and me was wrinkled.

Which end of the tower is the gift shop construction happening, North or South? I'll be arriving this Saturday and thinking about calling up to request a room on the opposite end to avoid the eyesore and noise. thanks :thumbsup2

I believe it is in the North but it takes up about half the building so it would be hard to get away from.

It wasn't that bad when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

I am so sad to hear about the uncleanliness.
Our dec 2006 was perfect minus the stomach flu of my then 4 and 2 yo. I was soooo careful (overly carefull actually) in the parks. LOTS of hand washing and sanitizer! I did not wipe down the room though. I have often wondered if the room was the source of the flu. Obviously it could come from anywhere, but I will definitely wipe the room in 2008!

We noticed in the bathroom that the grout of the tile was really moldy. Does anyone know if they replaced the tile when they did the renovation or was it left over? It looks like it would have matched the old style.

I can confirm it's the North Garden Wing building which was demolished and as for looking at it this is what I always say. If anyone wants to go out on the 4th floor observation deck to take pictures of it, that's fine. However because of the huge fence which is around it when walking either to you're car over there or to the Magic Kingdom you can't notice the actual work going on.

I think she meant which end *inside* had the construction for the new gift shop on the 4th floor? Maybe I'm confused.

My mistake, lol.

If that is the question I can say once the walls of the shop did gp up, all that was effected is walking in the middle. The B.V.G. store was still open along with the arcade and Sundries shop, so it was all a matter of walking around the construction.

hi everyone
Could someon tell me when the Concourse steakhouse will close and the construction in that area ie the shops and stuff will be done.

Thanks

According to the renovation schedule the Concourse Steakhouse is set to close in April 2008 and the new store is set to open the 1st week of December, which was told to me by a Cast Member working in the Sundries store.

So once the new store is opended there won't be any renovations going on inside until April which is when they will turn the Concourse Steakhouse into the brand new counter service location, which is expected to be named Chef Mickey's Express.

Hi!
We have a garden wing room reserved, does anyone have any secret room that might have a nicer view or that is more convient to playgounds or the pool. We are doing this December. I would have loved to book tower, however, I can't book it w/my discount code. Also, can you view Wishes from the Concourse Streakhouse? We have a 5:30 reservation that Wishes is supposed to be at 6:00pm that evening.
Thanks!
Jill
