Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Hmm, good question. Back when the news broke website availability showed Tower TPV rooms not being available starting in April, Tower Lake View in May... but then both had what I would have pegged as pretty good availability again starting in late Sept. This was several weeks ago when a bunch of us were poking around dates/trying to see what it told us about a possible schedule.

I just looked at your dates and others in Oct-Nov and it’s rather slim pickings. Nothing for your dates shows up, Tower rooms sporadically pop up for other dates. Definitely not the abundant availability that has often been the case so far since reopening.

I am going to GUESS (key word) that it could in fact be mostly demand driven. Anecdotally just from my random resort searches lately, it does seem to me like pent-up WDW demand is in fact real. Throw in newly refurbished CR rooms, the 50th (and MK being a focal point in that), holiday weeks like the dates you’re booking, I would venture to guess that the demand is in fact there.

There of course could be some lingering construction planned and rooms being held offline too, hard to say.

Hope it works out for you.

Thank you for the reply. I'm not upset about trying out WL at all, but we wanted to be able to just walk over to the MK. I'll keep my eyes peeled. :) I know WL at holiday time is supposed to be magical!

We are thinking of booking blt theme park view in October. Can you see the park well from those rooms? Any certain area of blt we should suggest we want to get the best view?
The view is CR, POLY, GF, Castle, Astro Orbiter, and park in general. Its a lovely view.

Good news all the TPV are good. NO worries.

You should request a room on the 6th floor or higher at BLT.

The Monorail beams are at the 5th floor level coming out of the CR Tower. And the elevated walkway from the 4th Floor Grand Concourse at the CR Towers enters BLT on the 5th floor.

Have fun! I’ve been having my eyes on a studio lake view for later this year

i love lake view studios at BLT. It’s what I initially wanted but none were available so I splurged for theme park view. We stayed at a lake view studio on floor 14 or 15 (I can’t remember which) and had an awesome view of the lake, the pool and could see epcot and HS in the distance. It was amazing!

We have a lake view CR room in the beginning of May and can't wait can't wait can't wait. Disney called last week to remind me about work related noise 8am to 6pm, but I forgot to ask about pool closure. Is there one anticipated then?

Nothing has been reported/rumored, although you never know I guess.

If you don’t mind me asking, when is your trip? Just trying to keep tabs on how people with certain reservations are being handled.

We are doing a split stay, May1 to 4, coming from the Riviera :0
I appreciate your reply. I was talking to a neighbor and she said with great confidence the pool will be down, but that was the first I ever heard.

Well, I’ve heard from some of the pool/bar CMs there for years now that “there are plans to re-do this whole place, do a new waterfront dining venue like Geyser Point, totally re-do the pool....”. So consider that bus-driver level info. :goodvibes

While I suspect plans like that have probably been dabbled with on/off over the years and they will eventually do something there.... there’s no indication as to when or if anything will be done.

Part of me wouldn’t be surprised if it’s eventually part of a BLT 2 at the Garden Wing. And part of me wouldn’t be surprised if they brought in the wrecking ball to the pool tomorrow and suddenly put a blurb on the website about the pool being closed for a year. :-)

But in terms of any sort of official info or credible rumors, doesn’t seem like anything out there at the moment.

Sorry if this was asked before, but I am trying to change to a split stay for Thanksgiving. My TA quoted me Contemporary for 11/24-11/27 but when she went to book it was not available. Do we honestly think the entire resort is sold out already? I'm guessing she goofed and that's ok, but I was really disappointed. We chose WL for now but would like to switch.

Did I miss any news about them reducing capacity? Does it have to do with the refurb to the tower?

TIA!

I think it is just your dates. I played around on the site near your dates... Nov 24 - 30 shows both lake & theme park view rooms are available. Disney also uses a booking algorithm & sometimes only certain lengths of stay are available. Years ago people had luck booking the longer stay & calling to have nights dropped. But the last few years that was not happening as easily. I haven’t heard any reports in the last year so not sure what they are allowing now.

Also noticed a travel agency has rooms blocked out during those dates, which also explains the limited availability. And rooms really do show up & then get booked just as quickly. We decided late to book a trip for the 50th anniversary weekend. Contemporary was booked for our dates but I kept checking. A few weeks ago, standard view garden wing rooms showed up which we quickly booked. Good thing we booked that night because they were gone within 24 hours. You just never know how many rooms are available when it shows up on the website, might be just 1 or 2 & which really could book just that quick.

Hey recent guests! I’ve checked the last few pages...are we still walking over to MK about 90 minutes before opening? Need to ride SDMT and PP before the crofs

I can’t vouch for current conditions, but when I was there over the summer and then again after Christmas, the temp check/security station opened more like 45-60 mins prior to opening. If you do 90, I’m afraid you’ll be sitting there for awhile.

Hopefully others can chime in with recent experiences as well.

The pool definitely needs some work. Nothing wrong with it but for a deluxe theres nothing special about it.

In Jan for park opening of 9am we were at Security at 8am. One day I have a pic of us in MK at 8:11 but the next day in park 8:32.

I also did GF in Jan with dh and it was kind of the same . Get there 30-1hr prior but be prepared to wait.

That sounds about right. I don't remember for sure, but I want to say we left our room 7:15 - 7:30ish and walked over. We did wait a while before things started moving (we were not at the front of the line). I'd say 60 minutes is a safe bet if the situation is the still the same.

Edited to add, this was mid-January

Same as the above posters. We were there first week in Feb. One morning we left our room around 725 (first 20ish groups) and the other 715 (first handful of groups). We did have to wait a bit before temp/security opened. Both days they started letting people in at exactly 830 for a 9am open and both days SDMT was down, so I'd have a backup plan just in case!

Any one have any pictures of the “day bed” in the Garden Wing standard view rooms? On the Disney site, it looks like just a couch. Does it extend out a bit?

My sister and I are going in May and a friend is joining us for two days of our six day trip. Luckily she’s only 5’1” so she’ll fit even if it doesn’t extend at all.

TIA!

When we want to see room details we look for videos on youtube.

It flips “towards” you. It pulls towards you and becomes a twin. Dd and I 5’5” and Ds 5”11 and all fit fine. 96E2F885-71A8-437C-B918-D113C8FAA6DE.png2DACA535-AC8B-49ED-84A9-AAE4B766BAE4.png
