We booked CR for the 50th also, I’ve never stayed there before but I think it’s the perfect time to be there for a first stay! I hope they have something special for it at the resort in addition to MK.

Depends on your priorities I guess, but as we are a West Coast family, the 3hr time difference works in our favor for late night stays in the park. The downside is having to fight the crowds as everyone leaves! The single most awesome thing about CR is the ability to bypass all the crowds, stroll on by the monorail line 1000 people deep up the ramp and casually walk back to the hotel taking in the sights and sounds! The new walkway from the GF is going to completely transform the attraction for many with kids to book there.

We actually prefer the Garden Wing rooms and specifically ask for a room we like there. We love the ground floor view:

For you CR/BLT veterans, what makes the CR and BLT special to you?
It's by far our favorite theme of all the resorts and the location and monorail are great. We've stay in both CR and BLT quite a bit. Our first WDW visit was in a BLT Grand Villa. It was amazing.

Ahhh can you just hear the sounds of MK? See the Castle? SM? Can’t be beat!

:cloud9: :cloud9:

For the 50th next year I have CR booked. For me and dd it was a MUST DO! It’s where it all began..... WDW😍

Us too! We're only there for the weekend (9/30-10/3), but I'm very excited to be there for the celebration 🥳 .

I think you'll like it! After years of just visiting the CR, we had our first stay last December and I loved it! The Poly is still my favorite, but I did really like the CR :goodvibes.

Any updates of what will be open at the resort when it opens in July?
I thought I saw a post Chef Mickey will be open. Only thing I can find is the BLT info post for food and amenities.
Also, this will be our first stay here. Excited to try it.

I had seen awhile ago that they had called back cm’s for chef Mickey’s and had “family style” listed next to it, but for now they’ve just listed what’s open at CR/BLT right now (wave, Contempo cafe and I think the pool bar at BLT). I’m sure they open chef Mickey’s when the parks open.

Nothing official beyond the initial list to support the DVC openings & Ft Wilderness. Right now the Wave restaurant is open and the Contempo Cafe. We should have more updates on the CR as we get closer to July 10th opening.

I totally forgot to ask. Do you know anything about room service opening?

So if someone could please report back once the resort opens on 7/10. Thanks ! Are they simply adding temp check at the monorail entrance at CR along with your security check ? Or will the temp check occur at the park entrance?
I was reading the beginning of this thread and I saw the 4 Th floor monorail security is the only place it will occur before entering the park.

Right now it is not available with the initial opening as of yesterday, June 22. We should have an update before the July 10th opening of the CR. Also we don't know yet private dining will be setup in your room or only delivered to your door.

For example Bell Services will deliver your luggage to your room but they will not escort or accompany you to your room.

As of June 22...

Private dining and in-room delivery
will not be offered during the initial reopening window.

Also mousekeeping has been modified: During Your Stay

Your room will receive light housekeeping service every other day (unless you choose to decline the service). This service will include:
  • Removal of trash and used towels
  • Replenishment of towels and amenities throughout room and bathroom
  • Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
  • Vacuuming, if needed
In addition, housekeeping tools will be cleaned between rooms.

With all of this reservation change insanity, four our Aug. 4 one nighter, I got moved from an AKL King Bed Pool View to a CR Garden Wing Garden View. At first I was a bit bummed about the garden wing, but have read a lot of nice stuff about it, about how quiet it is, the views are nice (for garden view rooms anyways), etc. What can you CR experts tell me about em? We're not doing parks so I'm all for a nice, quiet room that is still on the monorail loop. Thanks!

Well 1st floor has a shared patio if want outdoor space.

Look at the map. The rooms on the right side facing WL have nice water views. The ones in middle on left nice pool views. Only bad views are the std which still has view or mono. It is easy to get to boat, mk, transport from there.

However pool access is the best feature!

Oh laundry is in the wing too, i think 2nd floor but check map at check in.

Thanks! All I know is we have a "garden view" so we'll get one of the nicer views at least. Would love a first floor room bc of the patio. Since we aren't doing the parks, we plan on just hanging at the resort a lot, so having the patio and being able to walk right over to the pool is excellent. Since we did online check-in, we'll just be assigned a room so can't request a floor level at check-in, so maybe I'll give the ole "fax a room request" thing a try (the requests in online check-in only allow for "higher room").

When you get room assignment via text there is a number to call. Have the room map from here page 1. If get upper floor call and ask for a 1st. I have done that successfully in the past(needed king room).

Also fyi the boat launch is nice. You can head over to WL . I think we can still do that? It would be nice for you to have access to their QS too.

YC refugee here (term "borrowed" from my cruise FB group). Thank you for welcoming us to your hotel.

I really hate to date myself, but my first and only stay at CR was as a kid in 1974. We were in the garden wing. This time DD and I will be in the tower - lake view. My dad was an architect and loved this hotel and loved Disney World. He and my mom were going to stay here in April. Sadly, his health declined and he passed away in May.

We were moved to CR yesterday. I was literally shaking and crying when my hotel saga was finally resolved yesterday. It was such a relief to know where we would be staying. Hopefully, this trip will work out. With things the way they are in the world, who knows???

We are looking forward to walking to my favorite park. Also, I am going to cross my fingers that our fav restaurant, Cali, will open by Aug. 3. Don't worry, not holding my breath on that one.
