YC refugee here (term "borrowed" from my cruise FB group). Thank you for welcoming us to your hotel.

I really hate to date myself, but my first and only stay at CR was as a kid in 1974. We were in the garden wing. This time DD and I will be in the tower - lake view. My dad was an architect and loved this hotel and loved Disney World. He and my mom were going to stay here in April. Sadly, his health declined and he passed away in May.

We were moved to CR yesterday. I was literally shaking and crying when my hotel saga was finally resolved yesterday. It was such a relief to know where we would be staying. Hopefully, this trip will work out. With things the way they are in the world, who knows???

We are looking forward to walking to my favorite park. Also, I am going to cross my fingers that our fav restaurant, Cali, will open by Aug. 3. Don't worry, not holding my breath on that one.
We will probably cross paths. My daughters an I will be in the garden wing 7/31-8/8. Trying to figure out dining too . I will date myself I am 50 and this our first CR stay. :cool1:

How long is the walk to MK from the Garden wing?

Oh ... you just touched on one of my favorite parts. I enjoy the walk to the Magic Kingdom. I move at a pretty decent stride, and I find the walk from the front lobby door of the Contemporary to MK about 10 minutes. It is a good 20 minutes From the Contemporary to MK by Monorail loop, if the Monorail is not held up on any of its stops. Coming back from MK , it is the monorails first stop , bit I normally find the walk faster, unless I just want to take the ride.

Not sure what room you had at the Poly but the 2BR villas at BLT are awesome. 3 full bathrooms helps everyone get ready quickly in the morning.
We have stayed there and yes it’s awesome! Thrilled to go back it’s been a while. Oh we had a cl room .

Thx 😃

Thank you! I keep thinking of Dad, smiling, and hoping this trip works out. Every time I have visited MK, I look over at the CR. I think about how we need to stay there for the original Disney experience. With the lower crowds and no FP, it will be close.

I looked at your signature and noticed you stayed at the GCH. How does that compare with WDW resorts? It is a hotel that I would love to try and I have not been to DL. It looks similar to WL with a GF price tag.

I will PM you,

When you get room assignment via text there is a number to call. Have the room map from here page 1. If get upper floor call and ask for a 1st. I have done that successfully in the past(needed king room).

Also fyi the boat launch is nice. You can head over to WL . I think we can still do that? It would be nice for you to have access to their QS too.
Good idea. I was going to call ahead about a week or two before to make a room request too and request a first floor/patio with water or pool view. My AKL room that was switched to this room was a king room, so I'd like this to be a king as well (that wasn't specified in my new reservation). Are only certain rooms king bedrooms?

Moved from Beach Club to Garden Wing King room last night for July 14. We wouldn’t pick CR on our own, so I’m kind of excited to try something different!

Even without booking king category you can still request one. Deluxe resorts try to accomodate guests.

We got moved from Wilderness Lodge to CR yesterday. We've stayed in CR before but in a Theme Park View room. They switched us for free to a garden wing room from a standard room at WL, but I'm actually kind of worried we won't love CR as much in the garden wing. I do, however, love the location. We're planning to drive to all parks and this definitely helps with getting to MK, which I think is the most difficult park to navigate getting to if you're driving yourself. It is what it is, I'm just happy to be going in a little over one month!

TBH, I LOVED the Garden Wing more than the main building. It’s quieter and just more relaxing. It’s easy to get back to the main building. I was happily surprised!

Speaking of the Garden Wing, has anyone been able to book the Garden Wing for July 2021? A cast member said the wing is unavailable for all of July and we were wondering if that was because it wasn't open or already all booked. The cast member couldn't say.

I see the wave offers a breakfast buffet. Wonder if they will do a modified one like family style at the table or if they will simply omit it.
