Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Wow great pictures, thanks for posting! Quick question, do they offer mickey waffles in the lounge, and if they do is it a daily offering or once in a while (I saw a hot buffet cover when hey showed the breakfast offerings on the you tube video and was wondering if they had mickey waffles in there). That's all my kids seem to want for breakfast when we are at Disney, so if the club offers mickey waffles, I would be all set for breakfast!

LOL, too funny. My kids are young and I'm in the same boat. Unfortunately, no, no Mickey Waffles. I have to book an ADR somewhere along the way at a place I know has them to get that fix in!

Most of the breakfast options are cold items. The only hot item tends to be oatmeal. If they did have Mickey Waffles, I'd be totally set! :-)

That's funny, I guess Mickey Waffles is the breakfast choice of picky kids worldwide!

By the way, we have stayed in Bay Lake once before and loved it, we really enjoyed the short walk to MK. How much longer is the walk to MK from this room would you say?

We just returned from 10 glorious days at the CR. We were in a standard view garden wing room 5161. Our view was the parking lot and the monorail which was fine because we were only in our room in the evenings with the curtains drawn. The room was identical to our previous stays in the tower. I forgot how comfortable those beds are :cloud9:
Bus transportation was great except for twice getting picked up at DS we waited almost an hour each time
Loved being able to walk to MK and monorail service was good.
We enjoyed room service our first night and that was a real treat. Food was good as well as the service. Had a few meals at Contemporary Cafe also good. Housekeeping was good we did tip every day.
We really enjoyed having so many terrific places to dine only a monorail ride away.
We dined at Citricos twice and now has become our new favorite restaurant.
We're hoping to stay here next March for DD's spring break.
Be happy to answer any questions.

I'm going to guess no real material difference, maybe a few seconds if that?

We have a standard garden room booked for May. We have only stayed in the tower before. Did you like the garden wing? I was hoping to get a 1st floor room with a patio so that my 23 month old granddaughter can have a bit more room to explore when we are in the room (supervised of course)

Can you please add us to the list of lucky people - my sister and I are staying two nights 4/16-18/17 in a Tower Bay View room! I am over the moon!

We're changing resorts on the 18th and meeting up with a third sister at the YC. We had planned the YC part last fall, then two of us decided to add a day at WL, then switched it to CR, then added a 2nd night! No more changes - we are set!

I stayed at the CR in the 70s when I was 9 years old (I'm dating myself)! - I cannot wait to stay there again! I've been lurking on this thread for a while, I look forward to reading as much as I can in the next three weeks! Thanks! :Pinkbounc

Yes we did love it! We had only stayed in the tower before and were a little concerned. Once we saw our room we were very pleased. The rooms are exactly like the ones in the tower. We did request and receive a ground floor room which was nice to have the patio.
The distance from the main building was not far at all and the walkway is covered. We found some short cuts to the pool and the staff was great.
You will love it and love the savings ;)

I am looking to rent DVC to stay at BLT. Can you access the top of the world lounge if you are not a DVC member yourself?

OK, here is my complicated (maybe) question for the day. We will be arriving at MCO @ 3:40 on a Friday afternoon (October 20th, if it matters). We will be taking the Magical Express to the Contemporary, checking in, taking a quick minute for the usual "oohs & aahs" over our room, a quick bathroom break, and then heading over to eat at Trail's End at Fort Wilderness prior to the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" event. What would be a realistic ADR time for dinner? Hopefully someone is an expert and can give me an answer. Thanks in advance!

From the Theme Parks board:

https://www.disboards.com/threads/n...for-mk-guests-begin-monday-april-3rd.3594176/

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting the following changes to MK Guest Security begin on Monday, April 3rd:

- metal detectors and bag checks at TTC
- Monorail Resorts' guests will go through security screening at the resorts' Monorail Stations
- metal detectors and bag check at MK for guests arriving by bus.

What is the Legend of Sleepy Hollow event? How have I never heard of this!

Check out the MNSSHP thread it is dicussed there. It is an event at Ft. Wilderness where you can meet the Headless Horseman and get to watch the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It is 22 bucks for regular seating and 38 for preferred (i think you get a goodie bag with the 38 buck option).

I always allot 2 hours to get to my resort when using ME, so would assume you'd be checked in and done oohing and ahhing by 6. If you are trying to make the 8:00 show, that's cutting it close to boat over and eat first. Doable, but would make me slightly nervous. I'd shoot for a 6:30 ADR.

I'm pretty conservative so I'd likely not book anything before 6:45. Here's why I think that -
You'll likely get to ME around 4pm (we usually have to hit the restrooms before heading down) that puts you at 4pm.
You'll likely wait 15 minutes to half hour for the bus. Say that puts you at 4:30 and then about 45 minutes to the resort. Now it is 5:15pm and you need to check in - give that 15 minutes. 5:30 and you are at your room and freshening up before heading down to take the boat to the Fort - 15 minutes? Now it is 5:45 and I always like to give my self 45 minutes to use Disney transportation, just so I'm not anxious as I'd rather be early than late. That gets you to the Fort by 6:30pm giving you time to walk to Trails End and check in by 6:45pm.
Like I said, I'm conservative with my timing because I hate to rush.
Lastly, I never make ADRs or other 'hard' plans on arrival day - with planes you never know if there will be a delay!

Is this true also if you pay rack prices from Disney?
ToTWL is a DVC lounge located at BLT in the same way there is a DVC lounge at Epcot, location is not the key factor for admission. 361 days of the year ToTWL is open to all DVC members regardless of where they are staying. You are required to check in and present a membership card to a CM in the lobby to get on the elevator to the lounge.

So what is the best spot to watch the fireworks from if you are staying at BLT?
