Is there anyway to request one of the non-suite king bed rooms on the CR 14th floor? Do those even count towards the usual Atrium/CL rooms or are they only meant to be part of the suites?

Thkse rooms are apparently called "standard king club level" & you have to call to book it, you can't book online. I have 1 booked on a bounceback rate - arriving on the 12th. I didn't specifically ask for that room, but had asked about any club level room at CR with the bounceback rate. That was the only room available. It was after I booked I found out thru this thread that this will be 14th floor & theme park view. I'm very excited, can't wait to try CR for the first time!!

This is my first time posting...I am so excited! I booked the CR BLV for 3/28-4/2. I'm not telling my son (6 yo) until the day we leave :)

That's so exciting! You should definitely take a video as you surprise him with the news! And post it here of course :)

They are a bookable category, but aren't listed as "Atrium Club." Atrium Club is strictly the 12th floor. If you want a 14th floor standard room, you'll need to call and request "Standard King Room - Club Level." There are only two of them, both theme park view (although the CMs on the phone will often claim they can't guarantee the view, theme park view is the only option available so don't fret). We'll be staying in one of these rooms for the second time in January and can't wait.

Welcome to the Dis and the CR thread :flower3:.

Awesome! He is going to LOVE the monorail zooming through the concourse.

Thank you...I'm sure I'll be asking a ton of questions :)

You're welcome :).

Don't hesitate to ask any questions. We've never stayed at the CR (we're hoping to do so soon) so I can't answer too many questions about it, but there are a lot of other posters here who are very knowledgeable about the resort and are always willing to help :goodvibes.

I agree :thumbsup2

Hello all! Doing online checkin for our February vacation. We have tower theme park view booked. What room requests should I make? I'm thinking upper floor. Do I need to specify balcony? Thanks!

All rooms have a balcony, so no need to specify that. I can't really help with other requests as we've never stayed at the CR, but I'm sure others will be able to give some suggestions :).

Request an odd-numbered room if you want to face the MK while lying in bed :)

I just booked a garden room with a garden view, I have stayed here before but never in a garden room.
I read that I should enjoy the garden rooms, and don't mind the little extra walk and quiet is nice.
Have these rooms been updated recently? Any thoughts good bad, room conditions?

Thank you
Last rehab was July 2013. We stayed in a GW room in 2014 and just this past September and both rooms were in excellent condition.

My husband and I will be staying at CR for the first time starting this Sunday! We're more familiar with the YC/Boardwalk-area resorts and I've meant to get on here and learn all I can for a while, but got busy, yada yada. I see I have lots to read!

We have a reservation for a Garden Wing - King (booked as a bounce back).

Like I said, we're not familiar with the MK resort area. I have some questions about getting around. I'm legally blind (use a white cane) and though I normally am with my husband, I will need to be able to get around on my own too. The Boardwalk area is easy - get on a boat, walk, or take a bus. :) This will be an all new challenge!

Is the resort monorail still under modified hours? Will it run after MVMCP?

What is the best/easiest way to get to Epcot? If the monorail isn't running is there a direct bus, or do we need to take the bus elsewhere and another bus to Epcot? (I'd likely take it to DHS and get on a boat - hey, it's what I know!)

We are going to try to go to Trader Sam's at the Poly after dinner at 'Ohana one night. What is the best way to get back to the CR?

We are staying standard view Atrium Club over Christmas, and I was wondering if there are any requests worth making? Would requesting the end towards the magic kingdom make any difference, or would requesting near the lounge be a good idea or bad due to more traffic by the room? I don't mind a short walk, but staying CL I have found we use the lounge more when we are closer to it and can just run there quickly - so I was inclined to put close to lounge and leave it at that but I would hate to make a request that is actually a detriment! There's no reason to request odd or even numbered room when staying standard view, is there?

Does anyone know more about the Bay Cove pool closure? It looks like it closes the day I get there! wah!!! We're staying BLT February 1-9. We're bringing a couple of younger cousins for a 'once in a lifetime' trip. We purposefully picked this resort because we anticipated construction at WL. I know it doesn't ruin my whole vacation but since I only just found this out. I'm kinda bummed out for now. :(

I guess the best we can hope for is a late start to construction? Anyone have any experience with this?:hyper2: Did other deluxe resort pool refurbs start on time? :sail:

Kind words and constructive thoughts only, please. :dogdance:

We just returned from our 5th trip to BLT and all of our trips have been between Dec and Feb. The walk from the BLT to the Contemporary pool is pretty negligible IMO. And at least during the winter months, the BLT pool becomes enveloped in shade pretty early as the sun sets behind the BLT building. By 2:30ish it's all shaded which makes for cool swimming in those winter months. For that reason alone we often head to the Contemporary pool instead. Of course, it would be better to have both pools open, but I wouldn't sweat this. It's not a big deal in my experience and won't ruin your trip.

Aw! Thanks so much for letting me know! I can relax a bit! How kind of you!

Hello all! We have just booked into the Contemporary for a quick trip to celebrate my husband's military retirement May 6-9. The Contemporary is his dream resort and he really wants a MK view room. Right now we are booked in a Theme Park View Atrium Club level. I'm torn though on if the extra price tag for club level is worth it, however there are no theme park view rooms besides club level with the military discount. My other option is a Bay Lake View room. Is the extra $500+ worth it for the view? I told myself I didn't mind splurging, after all he's done 20 years in the military, but I am having a hard time stomaching the price difference.

Oh please spoil your husband & stick with the theme park view. It is his retirement trip after all. And after 20 years, that only works out to $25 per year of service, or about $2 a month (I can justify almost anything using Disney math!!! :lmao:)

We are arriving Saturday for our first stay at the CR, have a theme park view club room booked too. I will be in heaven looking out at the MK in the middle of the night. I can't imagine a better way to celebrate & be thankful the stress of a military career is over.

I don't know the specifics of your travel party, but if you eat breakfast in the lounge & have a few snacks, appetizers & beverages every day, you may save yourself close to the cost of club level anyway.

Have a wonderful vacation & thanks to your husband & your family for his sacrifice & service. I hope he enjoys his retirement!! :goodvibes

Lucky you for being able to get a theme park view at club level using the military discount. We just booked club level Bay Lake View with the military discount for December 2016. My husband really wanted a theme park view but unfortunately for us, there was no theme park view available at all with the discount for our dates. He is just happy he can watch them from the lounge. Happy retirement from the military to your husband.
