Thanks for that reminder. We need a quick breakfast for departure day, and this might be better than Contempo since we'll have extra DxDP credits! :thumbsup2
The buffet is as quick as you want it to be and they've always been good with beverage refills. Your DxDP extravaganza must be coming up soon?!

Hi all! Just upgraded from POFQ to CR MK view for a quick 2-day trip in August and I'm so excited! The one time I came to MK as a kid I rode through the Contemporary on the monorail. I was absolutely amazed and couldn't imagine what type of people could actually stay in a place like that! (I was raised in a Days Inn pack 7 people into a tiny room type of family.) So this feels like a dream!

One question so far--I prefer not to make room requests because I like to be surprised and not stress too much on specifics. However, it was so expensive to get the view that I'm second-guessing my normal strategy. It looks like worst case scenario with the theme park view I'd be placed on the 6th floor. Has anyone stayed both on a lower floor and a higher floor, and do you think the difference in the quality of the view would make it worth it to break my no-requests rule?

Thanks!

Welcome and that is quite the upgrade! The lowest Tower room floor is the 5th; 12th and 14th are Club Levels and 15th is CA Grill. Many prefer the higher floors which puts you further away from the parking lot below and offers more commanding views. We've had the same experience as psac with the Celebrate Mickey music that's played all day at CM. And, now they're added a brunch which means even more Celebrate Mickey music:upsidedow. I always request to be far away from CM, but that request wasn't granted our last visit, but we were on a high floor with no connecting door, so 2/3 isn't bad.

Were were on 9 on the Chef Mickey's end and didn't have any issues with noise. Honestly, the bay lake view is so much nicer than TPV I have no idea why TPV costs more. In theory it's because you can watch the fireworks from your room, I guess?
:welcome: to the DIS and the thread! We always book BLV, too. It's our favorite resort view - so peaceful and no parking lot.

In the "old days," there wasn't a bookable TPV and the view was by-request. Disney realized they could monetize the view, and so they did.

Yeah, less than three weeks away from our BLT stay! Woo hoo! :woohoo:Need the vacation for sure. We booked a lake view, I would also be happy would that outer south facing view of Bay Lake and the marina!

Would love some advice from all you Contemporary experts. We've never stayed there before and have the option of a tower, theme park view room (free dining) with 2 queens and 1 day bed. There are 4 of us adults traveling together, one 4 year old, and a 1 year old. Would this be too cramped?

I agree with the pp's that I also think it's doable. We've never stayed at the CR, but have stayed at the Poly and GF (rooms are comparable in size to the CR) and the rooms are large and spacious :).

What a pretty view! :cloud9:.

Disney has gotten smart with views and a lot of resorts now have so many different booking categories.

It won't be long :cool1::cool1:.

I just wanted to thank Kook and all the contributors to this thread. I am planning my very first ever WDW vacation as an adult (went multiple times as a kid/teen- most recent 2003ish but was not involved in the planning). When my little sister and I were kids at WDW we used to imagine coming back as adults, sans parents. So excited to experience it all over again at ages 31 and 29. Probably the only time we'll ever do this before she has kids, so I am really trying to plan the perfect trip.

Our sisters-only trip is finally booked and paid in full: Jan 28-Feb 4, 2016 and staying at BLT in a studio with lake view, renting points.

I really wanted to do this right ,and staying at a monorail resort was definitely a pipe dream, but with a little research and creativity the budget came together. We never stayed at a deluxe as a family, but I always thought the Contemporary was the coolest. I remember riding the monorail through it and thinking it would be so much fun to stay there someday.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the previous 134 pages, all of which I read. I feel amply prepared now! Now the countdown begins to ADRs and FP+s. So many acronyms have been added to my vocabulary! I had no idea that planning this trip would become such a huge project, but I am having so much fun with the research!

We ate at the Wave last week and it was very good. But I kept seeing the old arcade as I looked around.

We also ate breakfast at Kona and GF Cafe.

As a mom of two girls, 13 and 11, who are best buddies, this warms my heart! I hope you have a wonderful trip together and make very special memories!

May I ask, I have seen the towel return huts down by the pool, but is there a place where you can get towels or do you take them from the room with you?

Again many thanks for all who answer...

Kev

Just dropping in to say hello again. I got awfully busy this winter/spring, but now I have some time (I'm a teacher with summer vacation rapidly approaching), and look forward to spending some time on these boards between now and our trip in August. We're still looking forward to our first CR stay!

You don't have to take them from the room. There are bins of fresh towels by the Deluxe resort pools :thumbsup2 (My pic is from Animal Kingdom Lodge, but you get the idea :goodvibes)288.JPG

Sounds like you have an amazing trip planned. Glad you have found a lot of useful information from this thread, KOOK and many other here are very friendly and always willing to help answer questions or give general information :goodvibes.

Hope you have a great sisters trip :wizard:.

Like johnsonet posted, there are bins with fresh towels down by the pool, so no need to take towels from your room :).

Welcome back :wave2:.

Hope you are enjoying the planning for your trip :wizard:.

Hi johnsonet ....hope things are going well with you :flower3:.

Hi mickeynut1 :wave2: All is well, thanks. Hope you are doing great and looking forward to WDW this summer :beach:

I was just getting ready to book CM brunch for our July trip but it's $38pp, so I think we may just hit Contempo Cafe to get our CR fix

Things are a little busy here, but otherwise ok, thanks :goodvibes.

A trip is summer might not happen, but nothing is definite either way, so I haven't given up hope yet. If it does work out, I'm actually thinking of doing a CR CL/Poly CL split :scratchin.

That is a crazy price for CM brunch :sad2:. I think Contempo Cafe is a great alternative to get your CR fix ::yes::.

What a sweet post - thank you @hitzgrl123. You deserve a very special award for reading through all those pages. I'll add your dates to the Lodgers' Log.

Your sisters-only trip sounds like it will be so much fun and memorable. Make sure you have your calendar marked at the 60-day point for your FP+ and OCI. What ADRs do you want to make?

At least you didn't hear all the noise from it;)

Welcome back! Your trip will be here before you know it. Did you make any room requests? Did you request a rehabbed room at BC?

You'll still get to hear the Celebrate Mickey song;). Have you thought about The Wave?

Now that would be an awesome split
Thanks about CC. I had a salad there last summer that was divine. It was curry vegetable. Doesn't seem to be on the current lunch menu, but the Contempo Vegetable Salad sounds good.

Oh yes, lucky me! :rotfl:jk - but the song will be festive.
Hadn't thought about The Wave, but thanks. I like the idea of being in the Concourse and soaking up that vibe :wizard: and then maybe shopping a bit before heading back to the Polynesian.

I did my 60 day check in at CR today! Since I reserved TPV, I picked high floor and odd # room. But, I land about 11 AM so I also checked that early check-in box as well to override the choices if they aren't available. I figure for one night with a TPV, I can't go wrong anyway - right?

Nothing booked yet, but I will keep you posted ;).

Since CR has been on my list to try, I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and go with CL. Plus, I'm thinking it will be a resort only trip, so I will have plenty of time to enjoy the lounge :goodvibes. Hopefully it all comes together and I can make it work.

Yay for OCI.....your trip will be here before you know it :yay:.

I hate how fast the time is flying! I love the planning part!
As far as room requests at CR, there isn't much to request. We have a garden wing, SV booked, so I know there won't be much of a view. My other half gets skeeved out by 1st floor rooms though, so I will request an upper floor.
At BC, by the time we get there, I think they'll either be done or working on the first floor, where I don't think there are any SVs, which we also have booked there, so I'm not worried about not getting a rehabbed room. I will ask for a full balcony though, because I don't think we're going to get one in the GW at CR, so it'll be nice to have one for the 2nd half of our trip!
