Hi Kook... Can you change me from Atrium CL to just a Bay Lake View? We defaulted to the Poly w/Grandma, but that changed again, and now we're back at the CR, just "downgraded" from CL... (though even though I haven't stayed there yet, I'm thinking that CR is definitely NOT a downgrade!
JUST a Bay Lake View? The BLV is fab and now you have an excuse to have breakfast everyday at The Wave…and Chef Mickey's…and Trail's End…and Kona…:)

HAHA! I love it! To be honest even if an MK view had been available, after looking at pics of BLV, I think I like it better!!! :D

Can guests of the Contemporary use the community hall or is that for BLT guests only?

I know that many love the MKV, but we prefer the BLV, in fact, it's our favorite WDW Resort view. No parking lot below and no other resorts in your line of sight.

They are only available by calling to book them (categories that have very limited availability are often booked this way at Disney) or having your TA book them. FWIW, those rooms are usually sold out, if you really want one I would call and try to book it.

Actually, you can book the CR suites on line, at least as a room only reservation. However, if they are all booked, they won't show as available. We booked a 2BR CR suite online several months ago. There are very few rooms and suites on the 14th floor so unless you book one, there aren't many available for an upgrade. But, you should be very happy with your Atrium Floor Theme Park view room. The club on that level serves the same things that the 14th floor club does and you will have a great view every day you are there.

Our wise and wonderful thread hostess gives great advice on the cl standard view at the contemporary. We are at the resort now, and the photo below is our standard cl view. Amazing! Thanks for the info Kook!

If you booked through Orbitz, and you want to request a King, can you do that via online check-in or at the front desk when you get there? Or is it better to call Orbitz and have them call Disney or can I call CRO direct to do it?

If you booked through orbitz, then you have to call orbitz directly since they "own" your reservation until you get there. CRO will not add it for you if you call. And there isn't an option to choose a king bed on online check-in. Just to let you know, king beds are very limited at the CR.

That's it! That's THE view! Gorgeous Bay Lake View! Thank you for posting on your vacation and I hope that you and DH are having a wonderfully relaxing and fun time.

Hello all....
So, here's our story. DP (not many people use DP....it stands for "partner," and he's on here. His screen name is JNPants) and I were looking forward to trying the Poly for the first time ever, but I like predictability, and the Poly is offering none of that. I'm also a "view" guy, in that I like to know what I'm going to see outside my window, and there are so many options at the Poly, many of them including what could be a gigantic construction site, that it was making my head hurt! So last night, we decided that we'd try the Poly soon, but we'd try another resort in the meantime, and we chose the CR! Now, feel free to settle our argument...but we stayed for a week at BLT in 2010, and I say we've stayed at the CR...DP says no, because it wasn't the CR proper. I'll let you all decide who's right on that one!
Anyway, we're planning a *Magical* stay which we did last year at BC and GF, and it was a great time, so we're looking forward to repeating history at the BC, and can't wait for our stay at CR! We've booked a std view in the Garden Wing, and though of course we'd prefer the tower, I know many love the garden wing, and find it peaceful. I'm just grateful that we know exactly what we're getting in terms of location and view. The only request I'd probably make is to be on an upper floor as DP is freaked out by 1st floor rooms. I'm hoping that's not too hard of a request to grant!
Our dates at CR are August 14-19, and I hope to chat more with y'all as we get closer!
Now to prepare for blizzard #2 in less than 3 weeks....Sheesh.

Can someone please tell me what kind of coffee pots are in STD tower rooms? I am wondering how to buy/pack coffee for DH... (pods, etc.)

They are the Cuisinart coffee makers that can make two cups at a time. They look like this:

The pods are a little hard to find. If you search for coffee pods at Amazon, there are a few companies that make them. Cafe Heritage makes some good ones. Hope this helps!

Welcome and thanks for explaining DP. I'll put your dates in the Log-orail and sorry about getting yet another blizzard:cold:

If you're a VG (View Guy), then you might want to consider a Tower room. If you booked a Standard View in the GW your view will definitely be of the parking lot with the monorail above. If you're happy with this view, then it's a good deal in that it is the least expensive CR room. Keep in mind though that in the GW, none of the rooms have balconies, but the first floor does have a patio. So again, if you're a VG, then the Tower rooms offer the best views. In the Tower, all the views are unobstructed and all the rooms have balconies.

I don't know if this will settle anything, but I feel like BLT and CR are really quite different because of the rooms. The rooms are completely different and walking out of a Tower room and looking down below to all the action on the 4th floor and seeing the monorail go by makes it a different feel from BLT. But, if you're staying in the GW, the only big difference will be the room.

Hello CR Fans!

KOOK, we're holding strong on our WL CL reservation for the beginning of spring break, but we can't seem to make a decision for Easter Weekend. We started Easter Weekend booked at VWL, then moved to CBR, then CR Garden Wing, then Poly and today . . . CR Tower - BLV. We love Poly and stayed there last month for Marathon Weekend, but for Easter Weekend, we need that pool and I don't like the odds at Poly right now.

I'm with you on the BLV. I actually love it and wouldn't switch to TPV even if it cost less. We've only stayed CL at CR, and I feel like that balcony is pretty high. This time, we're non-CL and I saw that one of the possible request is "lower floor." Any thoughts regarding lower floor rooms?

Thanks for the help with the coffee makers...I would never have known to get pods! I don't drink coffee, but DH had a Keurig that we use "cups" for...I didn't know there was a difference!

We've done the CR/WL and BLT/WL split so I think you've made a great choice. But, it was hard leaving that huge one bedroom, even for WL-CL.

The 12th floor/Atrium Club balcony is really up there, but the view is amazing. If you're not leaning right over the railing, it's really not that bad just standing near the door or sitting so I would still stick with a "high floor." I think you have a more commanding view of everything the higher you are in the Tower. We're also not booked CL over spring break, just BLV, so I requested a "high floor." Unless you have someone with a fear of heights in your party, I would not check the "lower floor" box. But, I don't have any actual experience with a room lower than probably the 8th floor in the Tower. I'm not a fan at all of any of the OCI room request options for any of the Deluxes, so I always have requests added directly to my reservation.

O.K., yet ANOTHER question! (Sorry! I like to be prepared!!!)

I want to have a grocer delivery (probably from Garden Grocer if it makes a difference) it will include a case of beer and a case of water, and I will also be shipping a case of (energy type) drinks from Amazon, (weighs about the same as a case of water). Can someone tell me what the fees that CR will charge me would be, (even if it's an estimate)...
