Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

This is a loong thread to read everything. It probably has been asked but I was wondering if there was anything I should request with Tower Bay lake view? We are heading there in a couple weeks and they booked us in that. (DH has a conference and I'm tagging along with our 2 kids). I can do the online check in and was going to call tonight to make sure we were all set-magical express, bed rail, dining stuff etc. Should I ask for high floor? away from elevators? can I ask any of that?

I totally agree.... I'm picking up really good info here and there but HOLY COW, there's are a billion q's... lol I'm glad you guys are asking all the questions that I wanted to ask though! I'm waiting for answers too. :)

No need to read the whole thread. Just about everything you would need to know is on page #1.

It depends what you like. High floors have nicer views, but your elevator ride will be a tad bit longer. So depends how impatient you are. Do you like a quieter location? If so, you'll have a longer walk to the elevator. So it's totally a personal thing.

See above. And yes, you can definitely make requests like that.

Has anyone stayed Tower Bay Lake View recently? How was room and is their a huge possibility you will only see roof of garden wings instead of beautiful lake?? I currently have Poly Theme park view and am thinking of switching. I've never stayed at poly before. Any opinions??

We've never stayed at the CR, but from pics I've seen, the bay lake side views are great :).

We leave tomorrow! I'm sure this information is located somewhere, but ...

Can we go to California Grill and sit at the bar for drinks and snacks without a reservation? Is this worth doing? We enjoy having a cocktail in the evening.

Thank you!!

I can't answer about CG, but wanted to say I hope you have a great trip! :wizard:.

How nice that you and the kids get to tag along with your DH! Hope everyone has a great time :goodvibes.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions as there are several very knowledgeable posters here that are always willing to help :flower3:.

This reply might be a bit late since you were going to call Tuesday night, but our only real request is a high floor since we like the view. One thing I have seen mentioned a few times is requesting to be away from Chef Mickey's due to the noise when everyone waves their napkins around. We've stayed there a few times and never had an issue with that noise, but many seem bothered by it so that is something else to consider.

thanks. i requested a quiet room away from elevators. Online at checkin i requested high floor. can i say, when i was 5 i thought the contemporary, with the monorail going through it would be the BEST place to stay. I remember thinking "when I grow up-that's where I'm going to stay!" And here we are...3 weeks out!

ds14 and i just returned last night from 5 days at BLT. it was our first time there and we LOVED it! i would absolutely stay there again. my favorite will always be GF RPC but you cannot beat the value of BLT. we loved that it has a boutique-hotel atmosphere, it was SO quiet, and the walk to MK was amazing. it is definitely my new second favorite resort.

If we make purchases in the parks, they can be delivered to BLT for us, correct? At DLR they were available at Bell Services the next morning. Is this the same at WDW?
our packages were sent to the fantasia gift shop in the contemporary, and were available after 1 pm the following day.

Can anyone let me know if we rent DVC points to stay at BLT if we are able to go to the rooftop deck for firework viewing? And if not is there anywhere else we can see them from the resort?
near the elevators there are large banks of windows that have beautiful MK views.

i'm sure you already have found this answer, but yes, when we were there the other night there was plenty of room at the bar. you can also get a drink at outer rim.

i'm so glad that we finally got to try BLT out! if anyone has any questions, i'd be happy to help! if i have time later, i will post pics.

There is no chance of that happening. All contemporary rooms either face west or east. The garden wing is south east of the main tower. You will overlook the pool and the marina.

Not sure what your expectations are or your budget. Stay where you feel comfortable!

We're booked in the CR in a tower room for May. If everything goes smoothly we should be arriving at least an hour or two before check-in time. Assuming we can't get into our room yet (which I'm thinking is pretty likely) is there somewhere in the pool area to change into bathing suits so we can hit the pool?

I saw that BLT has an awesome little locker area, so I was wondering if CR has something along those lines, or if we'll just have to find the nearest bathroom stall to change and stash our clothes poolside somewhere.

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before, I'm slowly working my way through this thread from the beginning. Thanks!

Hello all! We are 24 days from checking into CR in Tower Theme Park View. I was just wondering if anyone who has been there lately or is there now has an update on the monorail situation. We love the monorail but it seems to be down a lot lately. Any input is greatly appreciated! :dogdance:

Will be at BLT January 6-11 for Marathon Weekend. Yay!

I hope you're having a great time!

Sorry I'm late with this, but YES, you can go up IF they have room. You will need to ask at the CA Grill check-in desk if you can go up to the bar. They will either call and see or they will just tell you to go on up. Once there, just walk over to the bar area and have a seat or sit nearby. You can order anything you'd like once you are seated at the bar and no ADR is needed.

Upgraded to castle view!!!! Ill post details after we are home. Thanks for all the input.

Yippee!

:welcome: to the DIS and the CR/BLT thread. We're honored to have your very first post here on our little thread.

You might be pleasantly surprised that your room is ready. CR doesn't have lockers, but it does have a poolside bathroom with a shower:

The monorail has gotten pretty unreliable and crowded. It's worse during peak travel times, but when you're there it shouldn't be as crowded, unless it's during a holiday.

I hope you're having a great time!

Thank you! I'm beyond excited to be going. I haven't been to WDW since 2009, and this is my first time staying in a deluxe resort. It's also DH's (and our three year old's) first visit ever! DH went to DL quite often as a small child and was all "been there done that" about our trip. Luckily one of his friends who is a WDW fanatic convinced him it's way more than just "kiddie rides" and that he'll have a blast (because God forbid he believe me when I tell him that) :rotfl2:

Yeah, that's what i'm afraid of. Fortunately we are going Feb 1-9 so it shouldn't be too busy at that time and no big holidays.

I will be there 2 weeks from today!!!!!

I will let you know if the monorail has any issues!

I was on the phone with Disney today and checked rates for our trip early May and switched to a regular TPV from TPV CL. I was a little torn, even though I was excited to get what's I originally wanted, but I was kind of looking forward to the club level. Saved us almost $500 though!
