I'll add your dates to the Log-orail. So many people are bailing on the Poly. It's hard to make major improvements, but not disrupt the guests' enjoyment. Seems a little monetary incentive or free upgrades might have been nice. The one day BB pass probably isn't going to appease guests who are staying longer. Anywho, you're going to love CR and being able to walk to the MK is wonderful. Unlike Poly, all the Tower rooms have a balcony and unobstructed views. Are you in the Tower?

Thanks. We would have loved to stay at the Poly, but they are doing SO much at once, it just no longer seemed like a good idea. I'm sure it's going to be beautiful when they are done.

Walking to MK does have a lot of appeal. And my son is monorail obsessed, so he is thrilled with the idea of staying here. We are in the garden wing, garden view. We had booked through a TA special offer and that's what was available. We are not in the room very much and I think I like the idea of being in a quieter area, away from the bustle of the main part of the resort.

We made the switch from Poly too. One day at a waterpark in the dead heat of summer does not make up for no pool. Staying at CR Aug 3 to 12th.

Our feelings exactly. Also, part of our TA offer included a visit to a waterpark, and we didn't want to go to a waterpark twice during our stay so the Poly offer of Blizzard Beach really wasn't an incentive for us to stay there,

Only 10 more days until my first stay at CR. It is only a 3 day weekend trip, but I really need a Disney fix before our longer visit in October.

Well, aloha and welcome! I'll add your dates to the Log-orail. While the Nanea-Volcano pool will be closed, the quiet pool will be open. Just mentioning this in case someone thinks there are no pools open from July - 2015 at Poly.

Looking forward to hearing about your stay:)

Thank you. Yes, the quiet pool is open but I cannot even imagine how packed it it will be.

I have a question about the fridge in the Atrium Club that I was hoping someone could help me with.

Does it close at night? I ask because at the Grand Floridian you could come through whenever and the fridges were always stocked with soft drinks (I say anytime, but I guess I'm not 100% sure if they closed and I just never needed to get a drink when they were closed). However, in the pictures I've seen I see a lock on the fridge and I've read some older posts that said it closed at 10.

Alternately, is the club lounge open all night or does it have hours as well?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

It will be really crowded, but at least there won't be any pool hoppers;)

We will be back to the CR from sept 6-13. Staying club level TPV

Can't wait to be home again!!!
What a great booking! I'll add your dates.

Unless something has changed, and I hope if it has someone will correct me, the lounge is closed at 10 along with the fridge, but you can take beverages and store them in your room fridge.

We love the Polynesian ...its is our " hotel ". We just got back from a ground floor stay @ the Contemporary Garden Villa ( pool view ). We also switched our stay from the Polynesian. No regrets ...great hotel . Walked to Magic Kingdom ... 10 mins . It was a first time visit for our 3 yr grandson and I was concerned about the ongoing construction . Lovely hotel. That said ... will go back to Polynesian after the renovations are complete :) I too read every thing I could about this hotel ..... It changed the visit up abit .. :)

Less than 4 weeks out now and alongside the excitement, are some silly questions, so here goes:

We are taking a taxi from POFQ to BLT. Should we ask to be dropped at BLT or at the Contemporary? It will probably be around 7 am or maybe even slightly earlier. Which desk do I have to check in at and where are the MB's going to be (they are being sent to the resort)? Do we need resort ID/MB's to access the walkway between CR and BLT? That is only a factor if we go to CR and our bands are sent to BLT.

I did warn you the dumb questions are beginning :rolleyes1

Those aren't dumb questions!

You can have all your luggage transferred for free by Bell Services, but it can take up to 3 hours. You can check-in at BLT between the hours of 7 AM and 10 PM, otherwise, you would check-in at CR. Anyone is free to use the walkway to/from MK-CR. You only need a KTTW Card or MB for park/room/resort/BLT pool entry. You can also use the MBs and/or KTTW Cards for your APs, charging and for PhotoPass, if applicable. If there is any check-in confusion, say you arrive prior to 7 AM at BLT and you then have to walk over to CR to check-in, it is only about a one minute walk.

Thank you so much (Again!) :flower3:

I am not too worried about the bags as we know Bell Services are awesome, but we will take a small bag with us with our bathing suits in so that we can use the pool/pool area and spend some time enjoying the resort. Not at 7 am of course :rotfl: but we thought if we check in early we can walk around and get familiar with BLT and then head over to MK for the opening show, leaving around 11 am and then spending the day at the resort. I don't think I've ever planned a resort day before but I am really looking forward to this one. I decided on a taxi because of the rules of no luggage on the bus and my park bag consists of a camera backpack and DD will have her own park bag so the additional weekender style bag may just be pushing the limits on resort transportation. I'm so excited I'm dizzy :cool1:

You're welcome and it doesn't sound like your small bags would be a problem at all. I really think they don't want suitcases. But, anything that would easily fit in your lap, like the size of a backpack, wouldn't be a problem at all. And, if your room isn't ready upon check-in, there are even lockers at the BLT pool:

Resort days are just wonderful and give you a chance to relax a bit and enjoy your beautiful Disney Resort. The resorts have so much to offer and it would be a shame to not take full advantage of them. I can't recommend resort days enough and we try to do a couple each vacation. It also breaks up the park visits a bit and gives you a break from having to take transportation somewhere. The next day, you're refreshed and ready to take on the parks!

We made the switch from Poly too. One day at a waterpark in the dead heat of summer does not make up for no pool. Staying at CR Aug 3 to 12th.

We'll be there Aug 9-16th. We were going to book the Poly for the 1st time, but couldn't do it in August with no feature pool either.
My DW and DD are super excited about the CR. They have wanted to stay there for quite a while.
I was there last in the early 80's with my parents, and now taking my DD. Circle of life!:thumbsup2

Welcome! I'll log your dates on the first page. The CR has changed quite a bit from the 80s and I think you'll be very happy with the changes. Your DD is going to love it and walking right to the MK is awesome!

Thanks for the info and for the photo of the lockers. They look so much bigger than I expected. Hmm, you have me wondering now if I could risk taking a breakfast ADR bus instead of a taxi .... I know you're not supposed to though. I guess I could wait and if it looks like it might be a bit full, we could walk over and get the taxi instead so as not to take up seats that those with ADRs may need.

Hi All,

We are first timers at Contemporary in August 5-10. Definitely not Disney first timers though ;) My husband is attending a conference, and I couldn't pass up the $189 rate to walk to MK. We have a 5 and a 3 yr old. I have been perusing the thread as this is, for me anyway, a very last minute trip. Any tips Contemporary specific. We have a standard room with the conference rate.
Thanks
