Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

I have a question about the Garden wing rooms how big are the safes? Are they big enough for 2 iPads and 2 iPad mini or Laptop

I agree that the bathrooms look like they are a nice size. We've never stayed at the CR, but the rooms are the largest of the deluxe resorts (comparable to the Poly and GF) and are quite bit a larger than the BC rooms, so I'm sure the bathrooms are slightly larger as the room is larger :).

It's easy and not too time consuming (IMO) getting to Epcot from the CR as the TTC is the first stop after leaving the CR. Also, you are correct that you cannot walk to the TTC from the CR. The only walking path from the CR is to the MK ;).

Thanks for the info! I have some additional questions::goodvibes

It seems like CR shares buses to AK and DHS with GF and Poly - is this correct? Does the AK bus also stop at Blizzard Beach? Does the Downtown Disney bus share with Typhoon Lagoon? It seems like it might be faster to walk to MK and take a bus from there to AK or DHS rather than stopping at two other resorts (whether that is either on the way to the park or on the way back) - has anybody who has stayed at CR tested this out?

Also, if you book at TPV, are you guaranteed to be able to see Wishes out of your window? Can you see the Electrical Water Pageant out of the window in a TPV side or do you need to go down to the beach on the BL side and watch it from there?

The recent WL DVC expansion news has kept me away from other threads:flower3:. It looks like some big changes are in store for your neighbor.

Making my first stay at BLT on DVC points week after Thanksgiving. I have a themepark view and am curious as to what other requests anyone would suggest making. I've been taking Disney trips for the past 4 years and honestly wasn't too excited for this years until my waitlist request for BLT came through. Now I'm starting to get on my own nerves!:sad2:

Congratulations! Have you already looked at the BLT Room View thread?

We didn't have any pillows on our bed. :(

That's odd:scratchin

Hey KOOK :)......how's the August trip planning going?

I've only made one ADR and I can't make our FP+ yet so to be honest, I haven't really done any planning for this trip. The one other time DD and I went alone, we found it easy to get into to restaurants without ADRs, at non-peak times at least. I think with only two it's easier. I think we're going to make this a more spontaneous vacation. We've been often enough that I think it might be fun to have a less scripted vacation, at least when it comes to meals - park days and FPs will still be planned though. What are your August dates?

Halfway through my last term for my BSN, 90 days until BC CL. Are you still doing Poly in August? (Sorry for the hijack Kook)

No sorrys! Those belong in big sacks around here. How many days left until you're official done with your BSN? So proud of you!! And, you haven't even changed your past two vacations.

DH and I are currently booked at BCV for mid-September of this year. But we have stayed at BC/YC for our last four trips and I think I might want to try something new. I was looking through the pictures of CR on Disney's website and the bathrooms look really nice. They also look bigger than the BC/YC bathrooms which I think are cramped in the toilet/shower area - anyone have any experiences with both resorts and could compare for me? Or just an impression of bathrooms at CR in general?

Also, how easy is it to get to Epcot from CR time-wise - it seems like two monorails would go pretty fast, but having never stayed at a MK resort before, we weren't sure. I just want to confirm - there is no way to walk from CR to the TTC right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!:disrocks:

We've stayed twice at YC/CL and I really prefer the CR bathroom. YC has only one door and both the shower and commode are behind it which makes that area very tight. I prefer the CR set-up of having the commode in its own very roomy area with a pocket door. I prefer the YC sink design, but there is plenty of storage underneath the two sinks at CR.

You can only walk to the TTC from Poly. From the time you get on the CR monorail, to the time you get off at Epcot, is under 30 mins. It depends on how long you wait at the TTC for the Epcot monorail.

All the CR rooms have the same, large safe that will fit all of the above:

As of April, the CR bus was only sharing with WL and then it would go to a water park before arriving at the theme park. It was a long wait for the bus and then a long bus ride to AK and DHS. We thought about walking over to MK and going directly from there, but we never tried it. We've driven in the past, which we would probably do again next time.

If you book a CR TPV room, you will have an unobstructed view from your balcony of the MK (and GF, Poly, 7SL, the MK bus stop, the monorail and the parking lot below). If you're in an odd numbered room, you can see the MK while in bed (you'll face north). To see the EWP, you'll need to book a Bay Lake View room. You can also see it from the 4th floor windows and from the beach/boat dock.

Right??? My only change was from Poly to BC...The official count is 32 days, but I should have all my work completed in 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey pas....glad everything is good with you.....congrats on nearing the end of school for your BSN :thumbsup2. Your trip will be here before you know it and I know you'll have a great time :goodvibes. We are no longer at the Poly in August, but rather the GF :rolleyes1. The trip is tentative and will probably be a last minute decision, but it's good to have something booked just in case. Hope you're planning is going well, I'm sure you'll have a great time at the BC :wizard:.
GF That is AWESOME, I was almost there LOL and DH almost agreed...kind of...I hope you are able to go in August! My TA texted me a bunch of DCL info about sailing out of NY.....DS14 said the days just don't work for him LOL....so far it looks like we may do December with his HS performance band and possibly Candlelight processional with the choir. WL was my hope but we will be watching construction.....

I saw your thread about the WL DVC expansion. Disney sure isn't wasting any time adding new DVC :rolleyes1.

Sounds like you and DD are planning a nice, relaxing trip as far as meals :goodvibes. I like the idea of winging it with just the two of you as I agree it's probably easier to get into a restaurant with just 2, without a big need for a lot of ADRs ;).

Right now we're booked for a few nights more than we'll need, but looking at being there just 4-5 nights sometime during the week of the 17th or 24th, just not sure which (if either) will work best...lol.

No sorrys! Those belong in big sacks around here.

This cracked me up!!! Made me think of the India wedding Seinfeld episode :rotfl::rotfl:.

Only 30 more days, that is awesome :thumbsup2:thumbsup2.

Thanks, I hope August works out, too. I do love the GF, but to be honest, I keep thinking about changing to the Poly :duck:. The GF is amazing and I'm actually booked in CL, but Poly CL keeps calling my name ......but the only thing available with the discount is LV CL and I'm just not sure I want to spend the extra for that view, especially since I know I'd be just as happy in a cheaper GV CL room :rolleyes2. Your BC CL trip sounds great, I know you are going to have a great time ::yes::.

Any pics of the pools? I'm looking to compare between BLT and CR - this may be the deciding factor for our next stay between the two.

Check out the recreation post, post #11, of this thread for some pool pictures.

Thank you...the BLT pool area looks so nice! I just do not want to stay in a Studio...I want a room with 2 beds. Ugh. Renting DVC points was a nice idea but I don't know about the pullout couch.

Staying at CR-Garden Wing for the first time in the Fall.

Which floor is the best to ask for? I was thinking the 3rd floor so we wouldn't hear anyone above us walking (I am a light sleeper). DH thinks we should ask for first floor to get a patio to put wet bathing suits out, and ease of getting to the pool (weather permitting, we will go to the pool each afternoon).

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I like your husband's idea. The patios seem like an added amenity!

Thanks so much johnsonet for your input.

I do like the walk-out option for the pool, but I assume someone still has to leave through the front door to lock-up properly. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

you're welcome. Yes, you're right about locking up.
I think the only place I've had a regular patio was at Polynesian and it was fun to let the children run out onto the lawn in front of our longhouse and then over to the quiet pool.
But in the CR Garden Wing, as you can see from the pics, Floors 2 and 3 don't even have balconies. So for sitting outside your room, Ground Floor is your only hope.

We had a ground floor room in October and loved it for the exact reasons your hubby suggested.

You are also correct about locking up, however we could see our room from the pool so admittedly just locked the interior door and just kept an eye on the slider on several occasions.

We leave tomorrow and I will have some bottled water, bottled diet coke and bud light premium beer left. If any one is here now and wants to pick up some in the morning, let me know. Up tonight still for a bit and checking out at 11am

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort will be open for brunch starting May 31; reservations open May 22. LOL about Seinfeld - just about everything on a daily basis reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. I'm shocked sometimes when I look at the credits and it's a show from 1995! I need to get new material, (maybe some new Peterman's;))

I definitely will ::yes::. How long are you and DD there?

Me too (about the Seinfeld episodes).....but they are classic and oh so funny. I crack up every time I watch it.....my boys and DH think I'm nuts sometimes when they hear me laughing, but then they they realize what I'm watching and just shake their heads :rotfl::rotfl:.
