Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Just a tidbit I overheard this 4th of July holiday….they were denying access to the club lounge and pools on the 4th if that was your checkout day. Apparently that came from the GM of the Poly. Staff absolutely did not agree and were very apologetic and almost embarrassed.

My wife's cousin and family, 3 rooms, were able to enjoy both the lounge and pools on the 4th which was their check out day. They had very late flights and didn't leave the resort until after 11PM.

We were eventually able to as well. But they had to ask special permission. It shouldn’t even be a question. Left a bad taste about our stay which was otherwise great.

I hope it is ok that I am cross posting this from the GF thread.

I thought I’d add my very subjective thoughts on our recent stay at the GF RPC in case it helps anyone who hasn’t stayed there in some time. The TL; DR on this one is that I was worried that it would not come close to the way it was “back in the day,” but I was worried for nothing, because it was every bit as wonderful as I’d remembered.

We had stayed 3 times between 2010-2015 and it was always hands down my absolute favorite. For a few years after that we were mostly taking non-Disney vacays for a variety of reasons, then it seemed like RPC prices were getting a bit out of reach. And since covid, I have read so many negative things about all the cuts that have been made, and it was just really not sounding all that magical to me for the $$. But, I just couldn’t stop craving a stay there and so finally on a pretty decent Disney Visa discount, we got to check it out from June 23-28. And I am SO GLAD that we did!

The new lounge decor is gorgeous and I love the seating options. The majority of CL CM’s were wonderful; special shout outs to Beth and Irv. Breakfast was fantastic. Dh and I don’t really do carbs so for us, having the bacon and eggs every morning was a dream and much better for us than the breakfasts they had years ago. Mid-day offerings were pretty underwhelming and I definitely miss the Tea. Evening offerings were fabulous and while I believe I have read on here that they don’t offer as much variety as they used to, to my (admittedly rusty) recollection they seemed just as plentiful as always and very tasty. I’ll be forever sad about the loss of the orchestra, but I must admit I still really felt the same old wonderful vibe in the lounge even though we only have the pianist now.

Overall, for anyone who may be hesitating that things are very “watered down” compared to the offerings and service from years ago, I want to reassure you that our personal overall experience felt as relaxing and indulgent as ever. Yes, on paper, I realize there have been cuts, and of course I wish there hadn’t been. But for us, we experienced it just like we always had. It “felt” the same. It was an amazing vacation and we loved it so much that we snagged a BB for RPC Feb. This time it will be just myself and dh for the first time ever and we are already super excited. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Thank you for sharing! I'm going to GF and staying CL in September and am happy to see the good review. It's been years since I was at Disney and even longer since we stayed at the GF, so I've been a bit worried that the magic won't be the same as I remember. I'm sure it will be, but it's nice to hear a recent positive review!

I'm going with my best friend from college...it's our "empty nesters" trip as we celebrate sending our last kids off to college! :)

Which club level room would you choose for a 4-night stay for a family of 4 with two teenagers.
A. Contemporary - either resort view or theme park view (my family don't care much about the view)
B. Wilderness Lodge - deluxe room

:thanks:

Hi! You probably cannot go wrong with either, but my pick would be the Wilderness Lodge out of the two you mentioned!:thumbsup2

I would go with CR resort view. You can get a great view of the park form the lounge, which is enough for me. Besides, I kind of like the lake view on the other side of the resort. Neither of these options are my favorite clubs, but of the two, I prefer the food options at CR

I would vote for the Contemporary since the lounge is on the same floor as the CL rooms. At the WL the Deluxe rooms are on floors 1 - 6 at the end of the building and to Old Faithful Club is in the main part of the lodge and on the 7th floor.

The good news for the WL Deluxe rooms is the extra space plus 2 TVs for times in the room.

I have done both a few times.

Cr would be more convenient to the lounge. As Dave said the deluxe at WL are not near the lounge.

Which is more important with teens? Time convenience? Being able to walk to MK? Being able to grab snacks, drinks, meals quickly?

Will you be at the resort much?

Will you use the pool?

Is having space to unwind important ?

WL has advantage of that extra space. If one of them doesn’t mind a sleeping sofa then one could sleep in the bedroom and the other on the sleeper. The 2 tvs are nice. Also the deluxe rooms are closer to the pool and boat dock if you dont mind stairs.

My sons fav resort is WL but dd prefers CR.

Currently I prefer CR food. WL sometimes has a bit of cowboy added to the flavors . However they did have soup every night in April. That I enjoyed.

Both have benefits. There isn’t a best choice. They have different theming, different room set ups, different foods, walk to MK or boat.

Maybe show the family videos of the rooms and resort? They worked when my kids were younger.

Whatever you choose, have a great trip ! Those are 2 great options!

Kind of off topic, but I have always wondered how people pull off being at the pool on checkout day. You don't have a room to return to after being at the pool to shower or change. Suitcases are packed. Maybe I make life too complicated, but I think I am missing something LOL

I've done it a few times. They have changing and shower areas by the main pools at most resorts. My suit gets thrown into a wet bag that gets put into my personal item when I grab my bags from bell services. Easy peasy.

Done it as well same way. Also, some CL’s such as Poly or YC have bathrooms adjacent to the lounges.

Hey all, looking for opinions on YC vs. BC club level. I know there are better lounges, but we are staying at one of the two resorts with friends. Trying to pick which one to stay at. Thanks!

We stayed at YC last year and BC the previous year.

In my opinion, the lounges are pretty much the same.

I’d say choose whichever resort you like better. I’d maybe give a little edge to YC because I’m pretty sure all of the rooms there have balconies while not all of the rooms at BC do. We requested (and received) a balcony at BC, so we were fortunate.

I think it's just a matter of each person's vacation style. Some people like to squeeze every possible minute, experience, and value out of the trip. Me personally, I can't relax or enjoy myself when I know I still have travel ahead of me. We head for the airport first thing in the morning so we can get home in daylight, shower in our own bathroom, unpack, and start the laundry, and still have a normal evening at home before bed. Different strokes for different folks, as they say :)

That is our preference also. But sometimes, we can save $400-$800 by taking a later flight so a little more pool time and more $$ in our pockets ain't the worst thing.
