Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

So I meant to pass on this little tidbit over a month ago and it just bubbled back into my head…

For anyone who is, well, faithful to Old Faithful Club at Wilderness- there are no fewer than three CMs who were poached by Universal to work at Portofino’s CL during COVID. So, if you know Julian, Andrew, or Greg, they’re all over at the CL on the other side of the fence!

We only learned this because we were joking with them last trip about how “Disney-like” the whole atmosphere was in that CL, and they were like, ‘Well…funny story…”

Too wild in CL to get pictures this morning, but they had sausage(way better than last time), potatoes, frittatas, oatmeal, yogurt, watermelon and pineapple plus assorted breads and pastries. I’ve already had a zillion cappuccinos lol. That’s my favorite part.

I know some CL folks who either didn’t want to deal with or couldn’t handle Disney’s prolonged hotel and CL closures. The uncertainty and for those that didn’t get reassigned somewhere in the interim, lack of income, went on for so long that many good people had to find other pastures. :-(

Kind of off topic but just sharing amongst friends. Recently back from WDW and it’s the first trip really since the post-COVID always crowded era that WDW felt a little more seasonally normal to me. Pre-covid, to me summer was always a palpably slower season - there’s a reason summer has some of the lowest resort rates of the year. None of that seemed to be the case the last few years as crowds/demand just kept on coming. May have just had good timing/luck, but this time felt different - and Disney indicated on their last earnings call they expect lower summer hotel occupancy (I can’t remember if they framed it as occupancy or revenue, but it was something along those lines) so maybe it’s real. WDW is a better experience when not everything is busting at the seams - so enjoy while it lasts! (If you don’t mind the heat!) :-)

Recently back as well and had a similar feeling about the crowds.

Crowds have been pretty manageable. Even HS with no Genie and RnRC down we rode everything we wanted which did not include the 2 Star Wars land rides and were out by 11.

More Poly CL apps: sushi, tuna, chicken Wellington, eggplant dish, cheeseburger egg rolls and rolls. Any questions let me know!

I'm recently back as well and I agree about the crowds. To the bolded, I think I'm finally willing to admit to myself (and my family) that I can no longer handle extreme heat . We already have a trip planned for August so I will dutifully tackle that one, but it will be my last hot weather season Disney adventure. Going forward I'll be limiting myself to November through April. Trips are just so much better when I'm not delirious and dripping with sweat.

Love Portofino CL. So much space!

September, a few years, ago broke me. I might consider a 4th of July weekend at some point but I'm done with the rest of summer @ Disney. The prices are tempting but I can't survive  Next up: January pirate:

Hello everyone! So excited to arrive at RPC in less than two weeks. We are trying to figure out whether we should have water bottles delivered. Can anyone tell me the current water situation in RPC? I thought I recalled reading that they give you refillable plastic bottles in RPC but I searched and I am not finding anything super recent confirming. If there are plastic water bottles, I was also wondering whether anyone can tell me what the situation is for filling them at the parks… is the water gross? Do they have fill stations or only water fountains? We normally have a case of water delivered to our room but my tree hugging side would love to not be wasteful if we can avoid it. Thanks!
It is a personal choice, but even with the CL options, we usually get a case of bottled water in the summer months. There are now some refillable bottle stations in the parks.

Long ago, MK has traditional water fountains, then those mostly disappeared. Epcot still has some traditional water fountains, but the water that comes out of them is not that great. Where we have found the bottle refill stations the water is good, but they are also often a bit busy. Disney's QS restaurants also provide cups of free ice water, but they are often small. On very hot days, they sometimes put ice water out. At MK, they put out one of those plastic water buckets and stacks of paper cups, like you might find at a kids' sporting event. It was okay, I suppose.

If you are not eager to carry water, then it is possible to get by using the above options. We tend to drink lots of water though, so we do all of the above. Having to ask/wait for water takes some time and effort.

If you are staying CL at Universal, then the CL's there do give out bottled water. The CL at Coronado has bottled water.

A small tidbit perhaps is that FL bottled water- like Zephyr Hills- to me, still tastes like FL water. It is healthy, but not the best tasting. The water at the WDW CL is great. One of teh very best tasting water is Voss brand water. It is sold in Epcot's Norway. It is crazy $$ for water, but oh, it is refreshing.

OH- one last important suggestion- if you get some bottled water, I HIGHLY suggest getting electrolyte water. (or dry packets perhaps? Liquid I.V. is one brand that comes to mind.) If you don't buy electrolyte water yourself, you won't find it offered in any CL or the parks. In the high heat of summer, we have found it helpful.

Breakfast was chaotic so no pics but they had mickey shaped eggs with salsa, bacon, French toast sticks, oatmeal, breads, pastries, yogurt, and fruit. Afternoon snacks:
