Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

We had the week of Christmas this year booked at RPC deluxe king room at GF, with 7 day park hopper. I just, for the hell of it, priced out what it would cost to book Four Seasons (through the WDW website) and for the same price we were able to change it to a one bedroom suite at FS with the same 7 days of tickets. We've stayed at GF RPC a couple of times now and love it but we want to try FS because it definitely looks nicer in every way. Only thing we will probably miss is the monorail.

Interestingly, if you try and book FS through their own website or through Amex, the price for the room was significantly more (several thousands of dollars) - I didn't expect WDW to provide a discounted nightly room rate when booking FS with a package but they did. I'm not sure most people know that...

If you have an AmEx Platinum, be sure and check after logging into your account and then going to AmEx travel. They are running some "get the 4th night free" on some "Fine Hotels" right now.

I'm glad they offered one but it's a weird one. 2 weeks only 🤷‍♀️

yep, very odd. I was hoping it would cover our mid-November trip. We have regular room reserved at the Polynesian, hoping to convert to club and/or apply a discount. We also have half of the week reserved AKL DVC with points, now maybe looking to use DVC points for Polynesian for the second half of the trip, but not much available.

I hope we all get an AP discount soon! Once you get an AP though, it will make going to Disney a lot easier to justify so you may end up going more than you initially intended lol (Disney math, right...entertainment is already paid for)! How long is that flight for you from CA...5.5 hours (not counting time change)? I think the time change would be the toughest part of a quick trip??

I'm actually fine with the time change. DH and I are avid scuba divers, and back before the 'Rona shut the world down, we used to travel to far-flung, weird places twice a year, so I get over a 3-hour change with no problem. Going to WDW, it's generally the fact that I want to get in before 6 pm that gets me, because it means I'm headed to the airport at like 4:45 am for a 6 am flight unless I have a nonstop flight - and even that flight leaves at 9 am!

Not only do the dates released today not cover a possible trip for me, but they went and announced dessert parties, too. Now I'm all, "What would be wrong with doing a dessert party to see the fireworks without crowds and then attend my After Hours party? It's the ultimate double-dip!" So not only am all rack rate at RPC, but now I'm doing two after hours (one solo, one with my sister and niece) and probably adding at least one fireworks shindig on top. Thanks, Disney, I'm gonna be broke. Hope you're happy. (In all honestly, since it doesn't look like our favorite remote diving destinations will be open for a year or more, I might as well splurge on some Disney.)

Have a wonderful trip!!! Can't wait to hear how RPC goes! I'm super-excited for my upcoming RPC trip, as evidenced by the fact that I'm stalking this board all day. Guess I'd better get to work now. Sigh.

Edited: dishes are 'from CG'. You can view fireworks from a 'private observation deck'.

Celebration at the Top: 50th Flavors & Fireworks at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is $129 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
Opening Oct 2

This isn't new though, right? Didn't they try this exact thing several years ago and it was a dud? I remember seeing some reviews and they were not good. (Not as bad as the ferrytale fireworks cruise though) It's not even in the main dining room, it's in the 2 back rooms, so you get a bay lake view and then you are on the back observation deck, not the one leading out of CG, so I would think your view of the fireworks would be somewhat blocked. I've never been on this observation deck but I wouldn't think you could see the castle from there.

Edit: I'm not going crazy, yes this is the same even that they did in 2017. Josh at easywdw did a good review of it (I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but you can't argue with the fact that he is very analytical in his reviews). Hopefully I can post the link... https://www.easywdw.com/easy/blog/r...-california-grill-at-the-contemporary-resort/

Who's stayed at RPC lately? Are the lounges running normally? Who's stayed RPC Theme Park View? Is the sun blasting your balcony all day long? It seems like it would be. Silly question and open to personal preference, I know... but RPC TPV pricing is SKY HIGH. Is it really worth it? I'm sure it would be extremely cool, but at rack rate pricing? I don't know.

wow, good call. I don't remember this. It does sound exactly like the new offering. It even has the same name. You should post in the threads about it. People are going crazy thinking they are closing CG for this.

It doesn't open until this Thursday, the 16th. the only Cl that has opened yet is AKL and it's somewhat normal foodwise but no turn down, no slippers and robes, no paid FP+. Is it "worth it"? You are kind of asking the wrong thread (we are horrible enablers) but generally, if you are going to actually use the lounge for meals, you drink alcohol and you like a place to relax other than your room, then yes. If you prefer to eat at restaurants most meals, you are only going to grab something in the morning and maybe a soda or something during the day....then no, it's not.

We did a similar "Sip, Savor, Sparkle" in 2018 and were not wowed, so this review doesn't surprise me. But the view wasn't terrible. However, unless the dessert parties are a ton more, that seems like a better view/investment (just my 2 cents)

And to note - though this is totally scuttlebutt - when we at at the California Grill in early September, the waiter told us he'd heard they were going to go to a prix fix menu in the dining room - which I understand but also am disappointed. I split an appetizer, entrée, and dessert with a friend and wished I hadn't taken that last bite of Creme Brulee as it was over the top on filling me up to uncomfortable.

I wonder if they would let you split the meal. We have done that at Chefs. I never order 3 courses.

If they do indeed go this route then I would expect it to be like CRT, where you prepay. I hope not because the food quality really suffers when that happens. Hopefully, it was just be an option.

Edit: Thinking more of it, I guess that's what they did with the brunch and it was still very high quality food. So there's hope!

Oh... maybe I'm asking the RIGHT thread, because I really WANT to stay RPC, so you enablers might be just the folks I need to talk me into spending ridiculous amounts of $$$. LOL. I'm definitely a CL kind of gal. I like lots of resort time, am fine living on CL food, etc. RPC TPV just came available for my dates, but I don't know if I can bring myself to do it at rack rate. Thanks for the input!

Of course you should reserve it at rack rate! Regardless, if it just became available, I'd go ahead and reserve it so you'll have it secured and then give a it couple days to work out any potential buyers remorse. It likely won't be there if you wait.

I am guessing they will NOT let you split a meal - I think a lot of people do just that and they're trying to ensure they get a full $$ for each person.
1 drink, app and entree is easily over $110pp with tax and tip so I wonder how they would price it. And that's with a cheap ($50) entree.

I am going to report myself :offtopic::offtopic::offtopic:
