Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I'm so glad you get to travel together again. That alone makes everything worth it.

So we went to Oga's in March and my kids want to go back and show hubby. I just read in a Facebook group that you share tables and booths. I'm not unfriendly but I don't like sitting with strangers. It's an interesting post with people on both sides. Was it always like this? Hopefully we'll get a bar spot.

We’d be excited to sit at a McD’s together at this point lol but it’ll be so nice to give her a little taste of Crescent Lake since she couldn’t come with me to YC in June.

Oga’s was like that pre-covid iirc.

Based on recent Oga's reports, you are shoulder to shoulder no matter where you are inside. So I don't think it matters.

Well we had a long talk tonight and after realizing neither of us were terribly excited about paying the outrageous rack rate for CR CL with so many unknowns wrt the offerings and dire looking rooms, we are saving a couple of thousand dollars and changing our split stay to Dolphin/Poly. I have Ultimate Rewards burning a hole in my pocket anyway (lol Europe travel when??) and with the current Sapphire bonus to Bonvoy transfers it works out really well.

I am really not looking forward to getting home from MK on 10/1 but in all honesty losing the walking convenience there for 1 crazy day will probably be evened out by the rope drop advantage for Remy and an easier time getting back after Harmonious opening weekend. I was admittedly worried about trying to do that from the monorail especially given the state of navigating Future World atm.
Your savings is like getting free dining.

I'm keeping CR because I'm getting old and that is the price I pay for not wanting to deal with crowds. I will ignore the decor at least it is new.

Someday we will try Chronos. :)

Oh man, it was going to be a DIS CR party!

But that’s a lot of $ and walking to Epcot will be a really nice bonus.

It’ll be interesting how it all goes down on 10/1. 2 major nighttime shows debuting on the same night. It’s either genius on Disney’s part or a recipe for an absolute show. 😂

Are you CL at CR? After seeing the pics of the Poly CL lounge, I’m actually getting really excited to see what they do with CR, assuming they also do a big overhaul in that lounge too.

Nice/fresh/new lounges at least helps take some of the sting off the prices. 😬

Yes. I should pay it all off now so I can begin forgetting more quickly. 2 years from now I will be saying, 'how much did I pay? Can't remember, but I think it was a lot.'

I know how you feel. I cancelled our CR CL for the 50th weekend a couple of months ago and while I was sad at first, I'm fine with it now. The cost just hit me hard and after giving it a lot of thought, I knew I wasn't going to be happy paying that amount of money for just a room. Like you mentioned, there are still unknowns about what CL will be, but that aside, I just couldn't/can't get over the nightly rate. Even if CL was back to pre-covid operations, I'd have a hard time justifying $3400 for just the room for 3 nights.

I am paying that rack rate because I too am getting old lol. Also I don't have grandkids yet. I am in those middle years with free time. I won't spend as much later once I have littles to care for. (I hope!)

I did get lucky that I am starting early and got GF RPC at the discount before moving to CR.

I paid for most of my room last year and have an AP and free airfare on Jetblue with points so it is not as bad. DD also has AP and free air.

I have done the math and hands down I am spending so much more without CL vs with. 2 drinks for me and dd and an appetizer or 2? $150 and that is without any meals. I also think crowds will be insane. I will enjoy sitting on my balcony!

Last DD loves loves loves Walt! We booked the 50th last year the day it opened. She had to be there. She has read and watched all the documentaries how they posted signs "We are opening 10/01!!!!". Lol she HAS TO BE THERE. So I am going....as any good supportive
Walt loving Mom would.

I’m admittedly bummed out about missing you guys that weekend but @mickeynut1 is where we’re at with it too. It probably would have been much different had things not gone the way they did this year, if we would have been able to take our big trip together for my birthday back in May/June as planned. I would not have minded even rack rate for just a weekend. But this getting turned into our big trip for the year and adding on the Poly stay, where we also have to pay rack for the first time? That made the math harder to stomach. And neither of us wanted to compromise anywhere else or shorten the trip given it’s our first time seeing each other in so long. If we had to pick one resort to pay rack rate for, we would really rather do it at the Poly, which is really “our” place (so much that if we really were to get married at the World, Luau Cove would be our first choice). And we are both in love with those new rooms being big Moana fans too.

It was definitely a tough decision but at the end of the day we had to be honest with ourselves…you know when you have to psych yourself up for a stay, it’s just not worth it. That’s how we were feeling about CR despite the history and convenience. As early as when I got back from GF I was starting to kick myself for not booking there instead for the weekend, but as we know the walkway was not complete yet when the 50th weekend was open for booking. We may get to CR another time when travel cools off a little and discounts start returning. And ngl I’m genuinely excited to show gf the Dolphin since I have a lot of childhood nostalgia for it and she has always been curious because like me she thought the quirky Michael Graves architecture was neat as a kid but never got to stay there.

My strong hunch is that the “new” Extended Evening Hour(s?) benefit will be active at MK on 10/1 and since Swolphin is included, we hope that will make things slightly less crazy.

Sounds like you made the right choice. I'm sure you'll have a great time, especially at the Poly.....those new rooms are beautiful! :goodvibes.

Stop reminding me :smickey:

All true, and I also have a Disney superfan so it will be fun. We have 2 APs and got 10k points pp RT airfare so it could be worse. I don't plan on hopping, just going back to my hotel, so the convenience is worth it to me.

I get it about the CL cost 'savings' (haha). When we do the apps and wine we usually don't order drinks at dinner, or have a smaller dinner, so that offsets the price. Let's keep this Disney math going. At least until we can start forgetting in the after (50th) times.

For those of you that had to cancel or move to another resort I will try to get lots of pix!!!::yes::

Bless you Trish!! Always appreciate your pics. We are taking the money saved and doing another nice dinner among other things. We still want to try Cali Grill, it will just be a quick monorail ride away. And Enchanted Rose since I never managed to make it there in May. Those drinks you posted looked so amazing.

I know it’s either autocorrect or fingers typing on a phone keyboard, but I still got a nice little chuckle before bed at the need to cluck on my plans and log in! For some reason it just struck me as hilarious :jester:.

Autocorrect on an ipad is brutal. Clucking on my plans is by no means the worst change it’s made. Thanks for pointing it out.

Argh CG is closing on Oct 2 for “special enhancements”. We were really excited to try it but I don’t like my chances for 9/30. Maybe with no fireworks that night it’ll be a bit easier?

I finally told my husband that I switched our October trip from Poly TPV to GF RPC. He was like cool! Then 5 minutes later... "so what is that?"

And to my surprise, he was SUPER excited! Of course I didn't tell him the cost, but he knows better than to ask questions he doesn't really want the answer to. He was really excited about the lounge food/drinks. With 2 little kids, we won't be having the multi-course meals we enjoyed in the past, so the ability to pop down to the lounge to grab a few appetizer bites pre-dinner or small dessert bite post-dinner is SUPER appealing to us. I'm 2 weeks away from the 60 day window opening... really hoping for continued restaurant opening announcements between now & then!
