Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I know I’m a page behind but the cappuccino maker brings back memories. My daughter had figured it out and the guy waiting behind her that she helped was NPH. love it even more that it was a normal moment.

That is very cool! What hotel were you at?

Anyone else having trouble finding happiness in daydreaming about their upcoming WDW trips? I didn’t realize how much my trip enjoyment was wrapped in CL... I day dream of the lounges. Breakfast at CSR GD. Afternoon drinks at Poly with view. Fireworks out of CT (that’s a literal dream, have never been there. Was going to but trip got cancelled and I switched to Poly for my June 2nd attempt.)

And lol- I just thought to myself: what if I was going to BC CL on my next trip? First thing that pops in my mind- coffee cake and espresso. Apparently the lounge doesn’t even need a view 😆

It's rough when we have no answers to anything, CL or viral.
I've given myself permission to think about our December trip, but keeping the door open to cancelling if I feel unsafe at all.

I'm having trouble too. The planning is the best part, but it's hard when I don't know what to expect. Plus, if there are too many changes, we may not even go. Hopefully, we will know soon and can start finalizing and daydreaming again!

We were supposed to be watching the fireworks from the Poly lounge tonight, for the first time. I kept myself busy cooking dinner, but it was hard. I couldn't even bring myself to pull HEA up on YouTube.

I'm praying that whatever changes are made, things will be more certain by the time we actually get to go, so I'm focusing more on the excitement of staying at a new (to us) resort, more time at the one we love most, and having so much time in general.

So here is a question for you all.... we have a 25th anniversary trip scheduled for September...a repeat of our honeymoon! I am considering an upgrade to club level for part 2 of our split stay--at the animal kingdom lodge. We already have a Savannah view...so it's not a huge upgrade fee...and honestly don't care too much if they limit the food offerings (in case they limit them post-COVID), we just like the feeling of luxury and the club level fast passes if things continue to be difficult to secure.

would you do it? We will start at beach club, non club level.

Just another FYI, AKL has 3 different savannahs and just having a Savannah view means you could look at any of the 3. The largest and most wanted is the Arusha Savannah in the middle of the hotel. Booking a CL room guarantees that you will get this Savannah. Otherwise, you could be on one of the other savannahs and they're just not as cool IMO. We've had stays on all 3 savannahs and the Arusha has way more animals. All 3 have giraffes but the worst is the sunset Savannah, it's small and animals just dont come there often unless its feeding time. Uzima is okay but it has a lot of the ankole cattle, so cows with big horns, these just aren't that exciting to me. So couple that with the access to the CL lounge and DSS, it's really a no brainer.

Fantastic point, thank you! Here is a question for you....I've never actually been in the AKL....I understand the lobby is on the 3rd floor and the restaurants are on the first?

DH and I love being able to walk/take stairs when possible instead of elevators. Our favorite Beach Club room is a flight of stairs from the lobby. Is it possible to walk down a flight of stairs to the lobby from club rooms at AKL? The rooms do seem closer than the ones at the end of the wings (looked at the touring plans room finder) so that's a definite bonus too!

Yes, if I remember correctly, you can, but it's not a straight shot. In our case, if I am remembering correctly, from our room, we had to take the round stairs that are outside, then cross the lobby, and then we could take the main indoor stairs going down to the first floor.

Sounds lovely! I think I am sold!

We really enjoyed our stay at AKL CL last summer. The CMs were really lovely, the cappuccino machine was heavenly, the setting overlooking the lobby was wonderful, we enjoyed the South African wines, the appetizers were fantastic and viewing the animals from the room made it quite unique. AKL in general is great. It has a really nice, laid back feel. The restaurants on site are the best group of restaurants of any property (all 3 are solid - Jiko, Sanaa and Boma). Delicious food and very unique. And they have a lot of activities and mini tours that are complimentary. I don't think you can go wrong with AKL CL. As you can tell, I am a big fan.

Yes, totally having trouble finding happiness in it, and we're not even staying CL this trip (DH's decision, not mine). Maybe it's because it's in a time of uncertainty of whether or not the parks/resorts will event be open, about the fact DH will have not been for 2.5 years and I wanted this to be amazing for him and now it might not even happen, or maybe it's just the general depression setting in about everything on earth and it's seeping its way in to my daydreams. We've been planning this trip for so long, and it was going to be amazing with all of our dining set up exactly how we wanted it, and it has always been so amazing to daydream about.....and now I just get sad. I just wish Disney would say something about their possible timeline, the silence is killing me.

Thank you so much!! Those are all the reasons we chose AKL! I hope we are able to keep our September trip!

Does everyone have airfare booked for their future trips? I notice the planes have all the middle seats blocked off. 1- I would check your reservation to make sure you have the seats you want. 2 - if you haven't booked, consider that your choice of flight may be limited due to decreased capacity and book accordingly.

I am booked for August but strongly considering postponing.

I just booked flights this past week for the beginning of August, but we fly SWA so no choosing seats. Good point, though, about checking current reservations that have seat assignments. I recently read that SWA will be boarding in groups of 10 with no middle seats available from now through June. It will be interesting to see how that all works out and if this process will be extended.

I booked my airfare months ago, like in fall 2019 if I’m remembering correctly. DH and I are flying first class (I had a lot of sky miles and the flight was cheap), and I keep thinking maybe I’ll move him to another row so I can sit alone since first class in delta is a 2 seat situation. Last I saw we were the only ones in first class, which of course could change, but I know they won’t be moving us far if they do.

I’m slightly concerned about my flights. I have a late June/early July trip planned. I have flight reservations (United) and check frequently to see how full the flight is. I noticed the middle seats in economy blocked off a few days ago. About a day after that, my outbound flight disappeared from the flights that are displayed when I search for flights on the date we are traveling. Right now it only shows one Orlando flight at a time I don’t like. If I go into my reservation, however, it’s still there/not showing as cancelled. I’m not really sure what this is about but it has me slightly nervous. There are only 15 seats taken on the entire flight, so it’s not sold out. I‘m considering a backup reservation on Southwest in case my United flight is cancelled and it just hasn’t been announced yet.

Fwiw anyone wanting a middle seat that can’t select one is being told to just talk to the gate agent so don’t let that worry you if you’re trying to get your party together :)

I think it will be extending until some demand comes back and then it magically won’t be necessary 😂

Is there a way to check seats on your flight without pretending to fake book and going through the whole process. I have jetblue booked for August and middle seats are open on my flight. It let me choose one.
