Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I don’t think any meal plan would get me to keep our reservations if those rumors turn out to be true. A significant cut on the room rate might. We don’t really do CL to save on food costs. It’s the convenience and relaxed atmosphere, being outside the parks that I love about the offering in the lounges. There’s nowhere else I can sit in the peace and quiet of my balcony, eating crepes and sipping on mimosas :(. Besides, for the price, I’m better off with a less expensive room and buying my own food.
Kinda concur... Definitely concur if they offer QS meal plan.

It would never work because the room count is too high (assuming normal CL capacity) but the CLs could always do something like they do in the Tonga Suites for breakfast.... a limited order-ahead menu of breakfast offerings, drop off your selection the night before with CL CMs, delivered as room service the next morning.

Again, logistical nightmare, but just a thought. Tonga Toast (or Mickey Waffles, etc) can make amends for a lot of things. :goodvibes
OMG PLEASE. Mainly because most of my upcoming trip at end of June is Poly CL :P

I could live with something like this!

Sure is a strange time. While I'm not anxious about things per se, I continually find myself not really sure how to think or feel about any of this (travel in general, discretionary spending choices, WDW, CL, etc). We continue to keep/make trip plans - backups and more backups - to try to salvage some semblance of a summer vacation. Some of those plans include non-WDW backups. We'll adjust/modify/plan when information suggests we should.

I'm somewhere in the middle of all the rumors about operations... be it CL or the theme parks in general. I suspect it won't be nearly as 'bad' as the most aggressive/restrictive plans that have been suggested.... and it won't be anywhere as 'good' as before. Reality with Disney/theme parks/anything in life is often somewhere in the middle when it comes to opinions/discussion on message boards vs what happens or what one experiences on the ground, and I suspect some of that will be in play here too for awhile. And of course everyone's tolerance line for what they will and won't think are acceptable changes will be different.

Or it all could be far worse and my middle of the road expectations are foolish, who knows.

Beverages (coffee and espresso machine), beer, wine, and thoughtfully (key word) pre-packaged snacks/eats could work for us, generally speaking. The devil would be in the details. With my kids now older (5/9), we have found ourselves less around the lounge these days than in our earlier CL travels, hot evening apps have less appeal than they once did. Breakfast is where we do really appreciate CL, so that's more on my personal important list.

Perhaps in "there's a sucker born every minute" thinking... we're keeping our CL reservations. I want to see my CL CM friends (and hope that they are still there), I want to know where my room will be, I want to see first hand what sort of post COVID changes are implemented, I want to go on vacation and sit at the Poly pool all day. Obviously a lot of whiny wants in there and no real needs (and of course things that can be waived off if it is not medically advisable to return to travel), but it is what frames our thinking in terms of what we’re booking at the moment. Nothing else to do right now but plan anyway.

If anything, we’ll go and see what’s up so I can wave the green or red flag around here. :goodvibes

Anyway, just today's random thoughts.... to be substituted with whatever feeling comes next through this whole thing.
I breathed SUCH a sigh of relief when I read on the cdc page swimming pools are safe. It was going to crush my soul if those were off limits lol.

As for feelings- I'm done with them! They can come back into my life when this misery has passed. I tried to get rid of them last week but the booze wore off and I regretted that life decision :rotfl2:

I would really dig that, actually. Maybe they could similarly do hot apps dim sum style, as another option.

I can't see them having normal CL capacity if they're trying to implement social distancing. It's one of the reasons why we decided to book this soon for next May, just to secure our rooms.

I'm not making additional bookings or changing my end of July CL reservation until we know more. I've been keeping the rumor thread and I've seen just about everything.
I would have agreed I found it hard to believe but someone here reported they went right after 9/11 and that is what they did. GF and all they got were some beverages.

Oh- btw we’re letting the speculation fly about all the other non-CL changes on the rumor board under the modified experiences rumor thread if you want to join! (I like it- fine I get a kick out of it 😂- but it’s not for everyone).
If "furlough" time does not count as service time, then Jackie might delay her retirement to make up for the weeks or months that she has missed being on the job.
Also, I find it hard to believe that Disney would cut back on any of the CL food offerings, because who in their right mind would pay a premium to stay CL then. Fewer guests would mean they wouldn't need as many CL Cast Members, further making the problem worse with reduced service levels.
I think the bigger issue is what the guest experience will be like once they re-open the parks. Will social distancing (for our own good) mean the cancellation of parades, no fireworks at night, huge lines to enter an attraction because you need to stand so many feet apart from one another, going on any attraction (Soarin for example), and having 2 seats on either side of you empty, meaning that because of reduced ride capacity it will take you hours to get on? I think these are the bigger issues that will keep people from going to WDW, rather than the elimination of food offerings at Club Level.
I started that thread on modifications once WDW reopens and I’ve read every post and seen everything from opening with just MK and limited experiences, to opening with everything (including arcades!) except Epcot and just some sanitizing and no buffets. So, be ready for a wide variety of rumors and opinions. What will actually happen is in there somewhere! :rotfl2:

On other news, I looked at the availability of non-CL rooms around my July dates and there.is.so.much.availability. I don’t feel the need to give Disney any more $$ for backup reservations. I think a lot of group/conferences have cancelled and I think many are not venturing to Disney until they hear what exactly will be operating.I’ve never seen this much available.

Oh lord. If the pools are off-limits, my kids would say no way! We have them spoiled for CL Life but they would not be ok with no pool in July :crazy2:

I can’t tell you the relief when our backwards state made an exemption allowing for home delivery of liquor, beer and wine. :drinking:

I donno - the words "social distancing" and "Poly Lava Pool" in the summer don't exactly go together. But I'm choosing to ignore that little detail for now. 8-)

Oh gosh, for my mid July trip there is a ton of every availability, CL and non-CL. We are staying at Poly and before all of this happened only a couple of rooms categories were open, then all this happened and all of a sudden only the suites don’t have availability. I go every few days just to look at things, and after staying in July before and seeing how it normally looks I’m just amazed at all the rooms available this summer. Of course that might all change once a Disney announces when they’re opening, people could come flooding in and take all the rooms, but I’m ok if they don’t lol

Well, look at it this way, at least you’ll be covered in the equivalent of a very wet Clorox wipe. That pool has enough chlorine to not only kill COVID, but the Pandora parasites from FoP!

Right, which is why I said I thought it would likely be quick service, not deluxe. I never said the word deluxe.
I think deluxe would be way too much, but at least standard dining plan since the hot apps in several lounges are plentiful enough (and good enough) to substitute a nice meal. I would personally do QS for breakfast, snacks mid day, and then TS for dinner and it would equal how I use the CL lounge. That being said, I wouldn’t want to have to worry about that, I want regular CL.

And for me, Free QS instead of CL would not be a good substitute. I prefer the hot foods at the QS for breakfast, but they are usually so busy and crowded and it takes longer. We would miss the ability to pop into the lounge for a quick breakfast. Also, we’re already booked with FD Bounceback (4 Disney adults), so there would not be much value for us there. Of course, putting our order for eggs and waffles through a complimentary CL room service would totally make our day. (A girl can dream).

Unfortunately if they pulled the "we didn't say you'd get all that, it just says refreshments and that's exactly what you got" card I would pull out all my CL food pictures from my recent stay and go "I'm paying the same as I did when I got these refreshments, either give me my extra money back or give me food." I have a feeling they won't keep the prices so high if they aren't offering anything, part of me thinks they're smarter than that (but they've surprised me before).
I agree completely. I am at AKL CL *frequently* and due to my food allergies, they will always send up a full plate of food from Boma for dinner if the evening appetizers aren’t allergy-friendly. In no universe could anyone argue that the food at breakfast and at dinner is not meant to be used as a full meal if desired. I checked the prices and currently, club level at AKL is sitting at an average $200 more per night than a regular room- I would definitely put up a friendly fuss if they tried to tell me that the additional cost per night was not mostly for the food and drinks.

That's a great idea: a free room service breakfast, then packaged lounge snacks & canned/bottled drinks for the rest of the day. Maybe also cookies left in your room at turndown each day. That would be fantastic.

When we stayed at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver, we were club level and had to leave early in the morning before a flight. Because we had to leave before the lounge opened, we were given a free room service breakfast and it was great. So it's not unheard of. It does seem a bit above Disney's current standard of customer service, unfortunately.

Yes, I think this is a great idea!! I get everyone's point about getting a DP. But for us the thing that holds the most "value" for a CL stay is that I just show up. I dont have to trek all over the resort, I dont have to wait in line to order, I dont have to wait to check out, I dont have to scan my band and make sure the correct credits are deducted....you get my point. I just show up, it's ready, someone serves me as many mimosas as I want. I can grab a gold dusted cupcake and sip on a glass of wine while watching HEA. I cant get that out of any DP. But a modified room service menu would really be something that could work for us. Also I want to add, disney is more than aware of the power of social media. I just dont see them going the prepackaged route. Just 1 or 2 bloggers get those pics and they will be everywhere. That is not the press that Disney needs right now. Keep in mind, social media was not a thing when 9/11 happened so we are dealing with a completely different situation. I'm 1000% sure they read these boards and I think its quite possible they throw out these "rumors" just to see what the reaction is.

NicholeLarson, you read my mind!! I was just going to post to ask if you guys think that the Disney people read these forums.
