Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Looking at CL at BWI, BC, or YC for December. Never stayed CL at Epcot area resorts. Which one would you chose and why? My family includes DH and 2 boys (12, 7). Last year we stayed at the Poly CL and it wasn’t our favorite. We liked GF RPC and Contemporary in the past. Price wise, BWI is cheapest and YC most expensive, but not significant difference between them. Thanks!

We love the BWI the best (especially the CMs) but with your sons ages - they would love the SAB pool. We prefer the YC over the BC but you get the pool with either resort. So if you don't plan on pool time I would say the BWI - our kids love it. Although the BC has the biggest lounge. Sorry to confuse you. :-)

For us we would choose the BWI then the YC and last the BC.

My DD and I had a fabulous stay at the BWI CL 7/28 - 8/1. It was our 1st CL stay ever and it couldn't have been more perfect. We had room 4223 water view. We arrived at the Inn at 8:30 am after a 5:00 am flight from Philadelphia...o_O We were walked up to the Innkeepers Lounge by Judith, who provided us with valuable info about the hotel. Once we arrived at the lounge we were met by Brittany who checked us in and made us feel welcomed during the breakfast offerings. Each of our nights there, Reggie prepared delicious dishes from the Flying Fish restaurant.:yay:Absolutely the best Disney resort experience we've had in the 10+ trips!

The BWI is truly our favorite resort for the CMs - we miss them when we don't stay there. Also Reggie was great. So glad you had a great time.

Personally I would chose the BWI CL for the CL experience and consider the YC next or finally the BC if the boys want to try Storm Along Bay (SAB) with December's bouncing weather along with at good CL experience.

Our favorite is BC by far. Especially with kids. We LOVE the pool, the overall feel of the resort, and the quick walk to Epcot. I've never been a big fan of YC or BW but I know they are popular resorts. We are going back to BC for our next trip again.

I just booked another BWI CL stay today! We are going April 2-9. With my cast discount the only thing available was the garden suite, so I took it. We also have one booked in February for our anniversary. We have never stayed in one, but I love the BW so much and the 50% off certainly made the decision very easy for us!
So, I now have 3 trips to my favorite resort planned, December, February and April!

You are making me feel better about my own Disney decisions. I booked another Poly stay today, of which I may have "a couple" on the books already as well. :-)

A bit jealous of your CM discount though!

We're a family of four, kids 8 and 4 (for frame of reference). Most of our CL travels have been at the MK resorts but we've been doing more branching out this year.

I am in the minority around here and don't really love BWI. We stayed there for a long weekend in Feb (adults only) - we liked it, just didn't love it. It doesn't 'call me' like some other resorts and CLs. I know I risk :duck:by saying that out loud on this thread. We found the lounge crowded in the evenings (couldn't find a table twice) and the pool doesn't do much for me (full disclosure on the lounge crowding - we were there the weekend of the Princess Half and I think many folks may have been in/around the resort for apps given the early morning wake-up calls for the races). CL food was very, very good. Exceptionally good really. We didn't really experience some of the amazing CM's that are routinely talked about on the boards, unfortunately. Overall we left thinking that we'd rather look at/visit the Boardwalk than stay there. I do want to give it another shot though.

We stayed one night at YC a few weeks ago - first time there - and granted it was only one night and you really need a longer stay to get a good feel for any given resort/CL, but we were very impressed. We already have a return trip booked. Beautiful rooms (newly renovated), very attentive CMs, food was awesome. Lots of little touches - candy out all day, ice cream fridge, the beer was ice cold. The resort and lounge just felt warm, cozy, and we instantly felt at home.

SAB is the ideal pool for our kids now that DD is older / a better swimmer. I'm not a total fan of the slide entrance being outside of the pool gates, but we just deal with it. We loved having real poolside service.

I don't have a ton of experience at BC but I kind of like the vibe at YC better.

Anyway - obviously all highly subjective and debatable. Just one family's perspective. Let us know what you decide.

I haven't stayed CL at the BWI, only one weekend stay there non CL. But we recently did YC CL and BC CL back to back and much to my surprise we liked the YC much better than the BC in terms of the rooms and resort, and slightly better in terms of the CL aspects.

We have 4 young boys, and for us if it was swimming weather for sure I would definitely choose the YC. Being that it's December so swimming is a little more iffy, I could see going either YC or trying the BW. Our boys love SAB, but I will also say they have loved every resort pool we've stayed at, including the CR ones which to me are ok but not nearly as nice as most other deluxe pools, so I guess they aren't that picky and I shouldn't worry about the pools when choosing a resort!

@cutigerlady
I like the bc blue rooms the best, yc wins for lobby and balcony (vs bc)and bwi has a more quiet (in the back ) relaxing vibe, bwi also can walk to HS which currently with TSL is a plus.

Lounges: bwi felt small and I had to take items to room at times because there weren't tables, BC was pretty big and we didn't have an issue there.YC my last to try, however I have done non cl and would try that.

Lots of times it's which one is available , and what price that pushes me one way or another. Good luck! Hope you get a good deal!

I just cancelled my deluxe king room at RPC for our quick anniv trip (8/30-9/1). DH wanted to stay closer to epcot for F&W so we now have one of the cottages at BWI. We have a longer family trip coming in January so maybe I can get my GF fix in then. Or go back to AKL or Poly or try the yacht club after seeing the pics here... I know it's the very definition of first world problems but does anyone else have trouble choosing a resort?

Got to love that cast discount! Our September trip with my son and his family is at the Beach Club, with I like, but love being able to spend time with family is better. He is bringing another family along this time to show them why we all love Disney so much. Good thing I can book extra rooms with my discount!

I love reading your reviews and actually even considered a room at the Poly for April, but we love strolling into Epcot, so, BW won out once again!

All the time - that's why we mostly do split stays. I keep saying I want to just pick one resort and stay for a long time yet we just can't do that. This trip we are hitting 3 resorts in 12 nights. My DH and kids love the variety - since we usually pick a MK resort and an EPCOT resort. We have become efficient in moving resorts. :D Have Fun!

I am convinced we have to try RPC again. Thanks.

I hope you have a great RPC experience the next time around :).

Our SL stay was exactly the same. We loved the GF overall - it's a gorgeous resort. But, their CL was so disappointing. The staff were extremely cold and unhelpful. They wouldn't help with anything and seemed annoyed when you asked for a drink...even when the beer and wine were out. The food disappeared quickly and wasn't replenished. I don't usually complain and roll with the punches but I was very honest on our survey after that stay and we got some money returned to us. But, I would still stay at the GF again in a heartbeat!

I feel the same way. Love the GF, but could do without SL. If I was planning a GF stay and RPC wasn't doable, I'd book GV before I'd book SL again ;).

We've never tried CL at BC or YC (have only stayed standard at BC), but I just returned from my first BWI CL stay (June) and I absolutely loved it! I found the lounge somewhat smaller than other CLs, but the food was amazing, the atmosphere was quiet, and the CL CMs were some of the best! They were always very welcoming with a smile and were very friendly and helpful :).

Glad you had a great time and enjoyed BWI CL. I've only stayed 4 CLs and BWI is now one of my favorites! I loved Brittany as she was always smiling and welcomed us into the lounge with "hello/good morning" as well as "have a good day/see you later" when we left. We were in and out of the lounge quite a bit during our 5 day stay and had a great time visiting with Brittany often. Reggie was also great as he made some fabulous dishes. We are trying Poly CL in Oct, but I can't wait to book a trip back to BWI CL :goodvibes.

The BWI is truly our favorite resort for the CMs - we miss them when we don't stay there. Also Reggie was great.

I'm already thinking about how Poly CL will compare to BWI CL in Oct. I'm not contemplating changing as Poly CL has been on my list to try and I'm excited to finally get there, but I know I will be comparing everything to BWI CL :rolleyes1.

I do! There are so many great resorts and while we have loved all the resorts we've stayed at (as well as have our favorites), it's always a challenge for me to choose one....lol. Good luck getting your GF fix in January and I hope you have a great time at BWI on your upcoming trip :wizard:.

That's alot of resorts in one trip, but sounds fun! Hope you have a great time! :goodvibes

I have to say we do love the Poly too! We love the theme and the beach area. So relaxing at night.

We tried to cut it to two hotels but friends invited us to stay with them in their DVC rooms - and we couldn't refuse. The more the merrier. :flower1:

Just left WDW after a 7 days, 6 nights stay at WDW. Two nights at Pop Century followed by 4 nights at GF in the Main building.

It was our first club level experience at WDW. Our other club level experience would be at the Portofino Bay resort at the Universals studios in Orlando.

The Main Building at GF is breath-takingly beautiful! We were greeted by a CM at the curb. His name is Larry, who reminded me of Santa Claus. He was very warm and friendly. I had put down 7:30am as my arrival time when I checked in online. But we didn’t arrive until 8:20am. When I gave my name to Larry, he said he has been waiting for us since 7:30!!! I was surprised to hear that! I thought no one would read the check in info I provided online!

Our room was not ready upon arrival. So Larry brought us up to the lounge for breakfast. He also checked out MBs to make sure they all worked. I had worry that with our stay at Pop, we would have trouble accessing the club at GF. Luckily everything went smoothly and all bands were working.

The food offering in the lounge was good but pretty much similar daily except for the evening appetizers . Breakfast was mainly the same. Mickey waffle was offered 3 mornings out of the 5 days. Afternoon tea time offering was similar everyday. Evening offering was mostly appetizers which were sophisticatedly prepared. My family was satisfied with the evening offer for dinner. But I would not recommend anyone to rely on the evening offering for a proper dinner. The dessert offering was somewhat similar every night. Although there was not much variety, all food were delicious.

All the staff at the Royal Palm Club were courteous and helpful. I didn’t need any assistance from the concierge desk so I cannot comment on that aspect. During one afternoon the weather was very bad with heavy thunderstorm. The lounge was packed. It was around 4pm. Usually the afternoon tea ends at 4pm but the lounge extended the hour and the food was refilled plate after plate.

So overall we enjoyed our stay at the RPC. But we would like to try a different resort next time, probably YC or BWI....

Oh, BTW, forgot to mention that we were showered with pixie dust during our stay. We received a surprise room upgrade to Room 4001..... the Grand Suite!!!! :rolleyes1pixiedust:

How is WL club lounge? I have booked for next year but it seems like it doesn't rate well. I also heard that it closes earlier than the others.

We just got back yesterday and we really enjoyed the lounge. The cast members were all helpful and friendly, and the vibe overlooking the main lobby is extremely relaxing. The hours seem consistent with all the other lounges. Doors close between services, but we were able to ask for drinks when the doors were closed.

The food was good, but they did not have anything like an omelette station that I've read about at other club levels. The only hot option for breakfast was the oatmeal. They always had meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, cereals, pastries, fruit salad and whole fruits.

The snacks during the afternoon were fine, but the evening appetizers were always really good, with a nice variety. The beers on tap were also good (Elysian Avatar IPA and Elysian Day Glow while we were there), especially in the chilled glasses.

GADisneyDad's pictures are good. The only change I noticed is that they've taken out the sink and they now put the coffee cups, coffee pots in that spot. They now have a water dispenser next to the Iced Tea, Lemonade, Spa Water and Geyser grog (Apple-cranberry juice with cinnamon). There are also water bottles in the fridge that can be taken with you.

We were also offered mimosas a couple of mornings - I'm sure we could have asked for them at any time.

I would not hesitate to go back, so I think you made a good choice :)
