I’m always carded for alcohol (I look quite young) and I’m wondering how self-pour CLs handle this? (I really don’t relish the idea of being asked to show my drivers license in the middle of relaxing with a glass of wine or having a conversation with my family).

I look young too. I'll be 40 in a few months and I was denied a drink at Hurricane Hannah's last week because I didn't have ID. Who brings ID to the pool? Anyway, we were staying CL and I was never asked for ID in the lounge. They knew I was 21...I was there with my 14 and 12 year old children, for goodness sakes! Plus, the reservation was in my name. They have my birth date on file.

When checking into CR in May, the CM was offering “welcome” drinks and turned to DD and asked what she would like. My DD is 20 and the CM quickly realized she was not old enough and politely rescinded her offer for alcohol but offered her anything else she would want....and apologized a few times for the mistake.

He was WONDERFUL with my sons food allergies and always went out of his way to make sure he was happy. Was very nice to our family.

HRH CL makes everyone show their room key for drinks, but I don’t know if that has any age indication on it.

Ah, that is what I remember showing. I knew it was something, LOL

So how did the check in go?

SL was 1/18 . Room not ready text so we ran to MK for an hour. Came back to lounge and I asked status. "Your 2nd floor room request is not ready."

I had requested by email with dss the deluxe room (there are 3) in Sl. They didnt understand my request and recommended I book my deluxe room in RPC. UGH! So I said disregard that email and I would like to request 6320,6220 or 6420 ( the deluxe rooms in SL).

So they totally botched my request. They did have a "ready room" on the 4th floor and since I dont mind the dormers we accepted that. We did ask for champagne while waiting and sat in the lounge for a while . Nothing special.

RPC 5/18 A woman was at the podium and approached us. Asked to take us up to the lounge and had a birthday pin ready for ds 21 (who refused to wear lol). She chatted a bit on the way. I did say I was familiar with RPC and didnt need much help . I said I heard about the soup and was glad it was out at 11:30am. I had to hunt down a cm for a welcome champagne. I found another women also looking so we went together and knocked on the door. She was happy to get it for us. I did make a new friend and we had champagne a few other times.

Poly 7/18 I was on the ME and panicking when I realized I will have to RUN FOR IT if I wanted breakfast before taken away at 10:30. I instead chose to text my buddy @Dispro1 who was in the lounge at this time and asked her to make me a plate. I did go down and check with cm after a bit. My MBS did not work and had to be fixed. Room not ready so I was out at pool chatting with @mrsap until the thunder arrived. So I hung in lounge 3rd floor area while we waited. There were lots of cm's checking on things( this was 7/3). All were very nice and 2 different cm's offered to keep an eye on my room and notified me in person before I got my room ready text. Made me feel kinda nice.

Then we transferred to Cr from poly. Me, dd23 and ds 21. We arrived by uber and left bags with bell services. We went inside and they said I had not done online check in. ( I had tho). They checked us in and insisted on escorting us up to the 12th floor to make sure MBs worked. Shante got up and escorted us to the lounge and offered us the welcome drinks. I have to say she was so super happy, nice , sweet it really made for a great start! We also got a welcome box of chocolates AND a welcome chef plate!

So Sl was a miss. GF and Poly were ok but Cr won hands down.

Currently sitting in a very quiet Innkeepers Lounge at the Boardwalk Inn. Very different from last year so far with the chaos in the lounge. Hoping it stays this way. We got back late into the 5-7 service last night as well which might account for less crowds. I will try to give an update once in awhile while we are here the next ten days.

As for all of this "carding" to get an adult beverage..my niece who is most definitely and obviously over 21...(late 30s....but you didn't hear it from me...lol...) was also carded at Hurriccane Hanna's ....I mean really...who carries ID in their swim suit cover up??? Nor did she even have it at the pool with her... so she had to make the trek back to the room to get it.......kind of overkill IMO....

Club level check in is such an inconsistent thing! We've had great, so-so, and terrible. Why can't they make it at least somewhat consistent?? From resort to resort and from stay to stay. That really shouldn't be that hard, or too much to ask! That alone would help make people happier, and feel more like the extra money they spent was worth it. If your stay starts off in a great way, making you feel special and like they went the extra mile, I really think people would even be more willing to overlook other things they might complain about. It's a mental thing- if it starts off in a good way, as opposed to a cluster or just like they don't care- you'll be happier about the stay in general.

I've never understood the point of using DSS for ADR. They can't get anything you can't get yourself, they don't have an access to any secret stash or anything. They don't work all that early, for instance, they open after the booking windows open. To me it just seems so much easier to just search myself. I have just as much a chance to randomly find an opening pop up as they do. I actually find it better to just put in 2 searches at Touring Plans. Sure saves dealing with the will they or won't they question too.

Just booked Pizzafari with DSS. The web site was glitchy since it was announced the restaurant would host family-style dining, it was nice being able to just send an email to DSS instead of picking up the phone.

Not that I would usually use them to make ADR reservations, but I loved the added convenience. They were even able to keep conflicting ADRs, which was definitely a plus!

Exactly. I just walked away. It was their $14 loss. I just got my free sparkling wine in the lounge later anyway. Carding at the pool bar is stupid. Like under 21s are really going to try to get away with that...at Disney.

ha ha, this happened to me too at Geyser Point when I did a girl's trip for Dark Side. I'm 38! I told the bartender that if traveling without my kids made me look that young I guess I was leaving them home from now on! I had to go back to my room for my ID. Never got carded in a CL lounge, though!

I know they had lemonade, tropical juice (pog), and filtered water. These were in large self-serve containers; not in individual cans or bottles.
I can’t remember whether they offered iced tea. The did however have plenty of varieties of tea bags to make hot tea.

I’m almost positive there was iced tea in the large drink dispenser in December. No bottles of juice, just cans of soda.

Yep iced tea, lemonade, tropical juice aka POG and milk in silver one on right. Water is far left.

I add the trop juice to my wines and champagne and dh mixed the Iced tea and lemonade to make his own Arnold Palmer.
