Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Last day at BWI. Breakfast was quiche Lorraine, bacon and plant based sausage. I bought GOTG for the kids this morning and the app crashed and kept circling 😳 had to find my packed iPad to do it. Late breakfast at CM for the 15yo then epcot. Not sure what time we are heading over to Portofino. If we are here at 5 I will report evening apps. Anyone interested in CL at portofino? If so, I will report that daily too lol.

Edited to add the wifi has been horrible. Both at the hotel and MK. I've been turning it off to book my LL.

I really enjoyed Portofino Bay’s club level when we were there in May. If you’re a wine drinker, they pour very full! The breakfast options were quite egg heavy - hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos with eggs (I’m not an egg person), but they had nice fresh donuts almost every morning. The evening options were quite nice as well. Be prepared when desserts are placed, though - shark frenzy is an apt description. I hope you enjoy it as well!

Headed there next week. From the pictures I’ve seen, there seems to be a lot more seating than the typical WDW CL. Did you find that to be the case? Also how crowded was breakfast? We tend to take it easy and eat after the rope drop crowd.

We never had an issue with seating at any time of day. We were not rope-dropping either. But we were also there before the summer crowds, so maybe someone who has visited more recently will chime in as well. Have a great trip!

We were there just after July 4 and it got crowded but we were able to find a seat, just no spare seats. All tables were full, and we don't do rope drop either.
I'm still not a huge fan of Loews CL operations.
The Portofino was better than the others but still extremely tight with alcohol. I may sound like a lush but I assure you we don't walk around drunk but this is where we get our monies worth in CL stays. No options to get it outside of evening service time. They pull it at the end of service on the nose, not one second longer. The beer choices were abysmal (but we are beer snobs and not ashamed to admit it) If it's Coors/Bud/Miller, etc type of Domestics we will pass before we drink them. Yes the wine pours are large but I don't want to chug large pours in 2 hours. I prefer a couple glasses with lunch, a couple with dinner and a couple with desserts. Maybe even a couple of mimosas at breakfast. That's a big fat no at Loews properties.
Breakfast was ok. I made do but fewer things we liked than Disney had. Oh, and I nearly fainted, NO ESPRESSO! That is almost a deal breaker right there, LOL
Lunch the same as Disney now typically
Dinner was good. Portofino's was significantly better than Hard Rock's. Their dinner was horrid.
Desserts we did not care for. No cordials

We are enjoying portofino cl. Here is a picture of the menu I snapped. I'm also loving their text service though I didn't use it yet. I did get 1 or 2 checking in to see if we needed anything. Breakfast was donuts, pastries, hashbrowns, egg and squash fritatta and fruit. Them bagels, oatmeal and yogurt. Tons of seating. The new club room is nice. We are on the same floor but pretty far down. Dh liked this breakfast better then BWI. Evening was linguine, meatballs, salad and some veggie, I forget. Storms tonight and the busses are no fun. Spoiled by the boat. Express pass wasn't so great either, missed genie+. Touring plans had it listed as a 4 today but lines seemed worse. We waited the posted time with express pass for quite a few rides. It was also HOT. Will try and get a breakfast menu picture tomorrow.

Buses? Where did you use buses at Universal?
Sorry the EP wasn't working. I assure you, no matter what the wait times show, the EP lines are shorter. I've never gone to Universal and said I preferred Genie, FP, or whatever. But I guess it's what you get used to. I love EP
I get why Disney can't use EP but I really love it

Have a good time. Can’t wait to hear your compressions at the end of your trip.
Oops. I meant comparisons. Stupid spellcheck.
Have fun.

I’m guessing since it was storming they were running buses from PB to the parks instead of the boat. Another big EP fan over here! And CL sounds really nice there! Might have to try it next time we go

Yes, you are right. Express passes are better, we just had long waits and I was hot and tired lol. The only ride we waited at all with genie was TT and it was maybe 10 minutes. We also got lucky that I had a bunch of genie revert to any time so less planning and we were able to do rides more then once with it.

There was storms last night. Lightening until at least 10pm so boats weren't running. We only went back out because we Toothsome for dinner and my son was really excited for it. That was a one and done for us. My youngest also waited about 90 minutes for single rider for Hagrids. Hopefully today is better but its a Saturday so don't have high hopes.

@Erica Ladd , you should try it here. We are enjoying it so far.

I did it May 2021 and again Jan 2022. The new lounge is really nice! 3 separate rooms. They got smart and removed the drapes and you can see out to the water. Food was good too. I think it reopened in Dec 2021.

I was not impressed with HRH cl at all. They food quality was just not there.

I didn't realize you could see the water lop. We've been going to the room with the TV. This morning was potatoes, wraps, fruit and the normal stuff. We actually debated HR last night because of the walk and bus situation with rain. We actually ubered there because we didn't want to be late for our reservation. Good to know about HR cl though
The only thing this is missing is alcohol throughout the day.

They have a picture of Portofino, Italy in the room and my son said, look mom, this is what the hotel looked like when it was first opened 🤣 I really need to get these kids to Europe.

Oh, we walk. By the time you walk to the bus you'd be at Portofinfo.

You can walk from Portofino. It's about another 5 or so minutes from HR to Portofino. Maybe 10 if you walk really slow. I walk slow and it's only 5 or so min. We beat the boat once when we walked instead of taking it, past the HR boat dock before the boat reached it from Portofino. We usually stay at HR because I like the Rock vibe more the the Italian vibe but have walked between the 2 for events before. Porotofino have something called Harbor Nights that is a blast.

I had that egg wrap I think, the southwest one? They weren't bad. I may be able to forgive them the no morning mimosa but it's hard to forgive no espresso at an Italian themed resort

100% right with the no espresso. I googled distance (and I know people walk) and it said about 4/5 of a mile. I did mention walking because the busses are far and my family nixed that too lol. We shared a bus back with HRH but the entire bus was Portofino! Dh and I may go check out HRH later for a drink.

It feels as if the walk to the bus stop is the same as the walk to the resort. Or darn near close to it. Just out towards the City Walk entrance vs out towards the resort entrance. At least from Universal. If you came out of Islands the bus stop may have been slightly closer.

Just don't try and Google Map a walking route. I was just trying to play around to show and it refuses to give the correct route. It came close but it wouldn't use a couple of the paths for some reason. It wants to use the street sidewalks, which is not the way

Velvet Lounge is a nice place for a drink. Sometimes they have some good entertainment going on
